Hi All,

I am planning a trip to the world in 2007. Everytime I have gone before was in May. I am thinking about September or October. Would anyone like to throw in their two cents worth?

We are an adult couple without kids. We really would not have much interest in the Halloween festival etc. We would like their to be fewer crowds.

Thanks for the help.

Chuck

September is supposed to be one of the best times to go to avoid crowds.

We have been in October before and loved the low crowds and the weather. It is just to hard to go during the school year for us now that our kids are so involved in different sports & activities.

ENJOY YOUR PLANNING & YOUR TRIP!

OH, just wanted to add a FYI: The last couple of years Disney has offered the Disney Dinning Plan free to guest staying at their resorts beginning in September (I believe). No promisies they will do it again this year, but always worth keeping an eye out on this!

Hi Chuck,

We have been twice in September and enjoyed it.The crowds were really low so there was hardly any wait to get on the rides or see the shows. You take a chance with the weather but the twice we went it was quite nice, we had a few thunder storms but nothing really bad.We are planning on going back next September.I can't comment on October because we've never been but whether you choose September or October you'll have a great time :thumbsup2

Due to my wifes new job, we have to move up our yearly trip to September. So, I am kind of just subscribing to this one.

My concerns are mostly weather related, but I do understand that this is something that can not be controlled (unless you have super powers....).
:confused3

I would schedule for late September. It will be a little cooler then and if they offer free dining, you can get in on that as well. We went Labor Day weekend and it was H-O-T!

I wouldn't worry too much about hurricanes. Usually, by the time they would get to Orlando, they are all rain and they pass by pretty quickly. We drove through a storm on our way. That was a little crazy, but by the time we got to Orlando, it was nice there.

I wish we could go back in September, but I think we will need to go on Fall Break this year(October)

We went Sept 22 for 7 days. It was not too bad, a little on the warm side. As the Food and Wine Festival started towards the 29th (I believe) you could definitely tell the crowds were picking up.

Seemed like a great time to go..but I love WDW at Christmas and so far I haven't found a time I prefer over that one. Enjoy!

We went the second week of September this past year, and the parks were almost empty. Even the Halloween Party (first of the year) wasn't that bad. I would DEFINITELY recommend that time of year.

we went this year during the last week of September. You couldn't of asked for better weather. We visited last year at the same time and I can tell you that it was really HOT!!!!! So hot that it was unbearable for me. This year I was pleasantly surprised. September has become our vacation month for disney!!!!! My family of 4 have enjoyed the free dining for 2 years in a row- come on 3rd year!!!!!!

FWIW, we are going to be there Sept 15-23. We decided on that week on the promise of low crowds, and the hopes of free dining again. Our honeymoon at WDW was Aug 29-Sept 4 in 2005. It was a bit hot, and I'm not expecting this time around to be much different. The weather was pretty rainy as well, but I'm chalking that up to the effects of Hurricane Katrina. But the crowds were pretty low until that Friday (the beginning of Labor Day weekend), so I'm hoping it'll be the same the week I'll be there next year.

I guess I have the first vote for October... I like the weather to be a little cooler and for hurricane season to be over.

I picked either!!!

What would the average daytime temp be...say the 2nd week of September versus the 2nd week of October.

I am definately better in cooler temps.

We went the last week of September (23-29). It was rather hot the first two days, then it rained at the weather was really nice the rest of our stay. We did not wait in line for anything more than 10 minutes. We did everything except the rides with height restrictions (tower of terror, etc) because we were there with two little ones. The only complaint we had was that it was luvbug season so they were everywhere. They took us by surprise. It's definately worth dealing with them for such little wait time. We will be going back September 2007. We are hoping for free dining again.

We are booking our trip for Sept. 19-23 and I cant wait. This is our first trip and my 9 year old is soooo excited. I do have a question though, we were told that there are no parades at this time of year, is that correct? And also, if they offer the free dining will they credit you if you've already paid for it? Thanks, Stephanie

Welcome to the DIS! There are definitely parades during that time period!

Free dining, when it is offered,is offered as a part of a package deal where you book a room on site and a magic your way ticket for each member of your party for at least 1 day. SO if you book now and a deal comes out, you will need to rebook with this type of package.

We are booking a 4 night stay at a value resort with the dining option and park hopper passes. So, does that qualify for the dining special if one is offered?

Okay....so it is definately very warm if we go towards the first of September. It will be cooler if we go the first week in Octber, but there wouldn't be any free dining right?

What about crowd levels; First week of Sept. VS First week of October?
