September - Magic Bands?

17 days out today... got the letter to participate in the test via UPS today. On Sunday night (19 days out), I saw that I could customize bands on MDE and did. They MB's came on the same truck that delivered the invitation to test them. Quick turn around!
I haven't done FP+ because I don't really want to plan ahead. With the uncertainty in the testing phase, I don't want to link my UT tickets and be stuck not being able to use old FP. Sounds like the August test allowed both FP and FP+, but who knows how it will work in September... I don't even think Disney knows!

When you say Contemporary, does that include Bay Lake Tower?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes. I say this because my stay from sept 12-16 is at BCV, and then the night of the 20th is at BLT. My first stay is likely the one that qualified me but either way, both are at DVC properties.

32 Days out. Checking in at POR on Sept. 20th.
I just logged into MDE and noticed I have the option for MBs and FP+.

Okay...so after seeing the message in MDE, I clicked on the link to begin customizing.
But, there are no magic bands displayed to customize??

Now, I did not receive an email or anything with an invitation, just happened to notice the option when logging in to MDE.

Not sure if I should call, wait for an email, or just leave it alone. :confused3

I had the same thing happen, I logged into the online check in and bumped my check in up a half an hour and then saved it- and got the option to customize our MB's after logging back in. Got the tip a few pages ago in this thread.

We received ours today!!!:cheer2:

I customized them Thursday, they shipped out yesterday.

We are staying at POR from 9/16-9/23:bitelip:

Do I understand correctly that you were invited to participate in the test without having your tickets linked on MDE? I was understanding that an invite to participate required that you have tickets linked in MDE. Clearly, I may have been wrong. It's all very confusing!

Does anyone know why it won't let me make FP+ selection for the 9/29 to 10/2? I don't change hotels (staying in Pop) or anything.

Tickets are not linked yet. It does tell me to link tickets or passes to make FP+ selections. I just got the email invite this afternoon, so it appears they make sure the website is live, then UPS and email people the invite.

Came home for lunch today, to find these waiting for me.

Animal Kingdom Lodge, Contemporary, Pop Century, Port Orleans Riverside, Art of Animation, Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Polynesian resorts are all testing MagicBand, MyMagic+, and Fastpass+ through mid-October.

I'm staying at Beach Club - wonder why I don't have the ability to order magic bands.

Update: I went back into MDE and selected the link for online check-in. Before continuing with the online check-in process, I cancelled it. (I don't really want to do online check-in).
Went back into MDE about an hour later and I had Magicbands! I was able to customize them. Although there was a message saying that this was the last day I was able to customize.

I wonder if Disney knows that their test guests are not being notified? I would have never known if I hadn't gone in and checked.

Thanks Dave, I'm on the fence about online check-in. Leaning towards not doing it so this is a great tip :)

Can I switch my end of Sept reservation from POFQ to por. Make fp+ reservations and order magic bands and then switch back to POFQ?

So here is my question? My Mother lives in Florida during winter months Oct - April. We are coming down for my 50th birthday celebration in March :cheer2: Mom is too frail for parks so we were going to set her up around the pool, give her one of our room keys and head off to the parks for the day. Will we be able to do this if we have MB's?

Unless they are still giving Keys to the world cards, with the magic bands, then no.

Amy,
It looks like on your band in the box you have the grey sides to it, but on your arm you don't. Are you able to take that off somehow, or is it just the angle??

You can take it off to make the band smaller, but you can't put it back on if you do.

Funny thing, not 10 minutes after I posed that question to you- Mr UPS shows up with mine and DH's bands :rotfl:

I too think I'm going to have to take the side strips off, my wrists are small (and thus the bone is fairly prominent) and this thing does not fit well/flush on my wrist at all. It's actually not comfortable unless I wear it further up my arm.
