September - Magic Bands?

I know I'm probably getting a little ahead of myself here... but has any that is staying in Disney during September heard anything about Magic Band test or what resorts are being added to the test? I'm just curious, it seems the lucky number for the email is 17 days before check in. I figured I'd start this post so that when they do start emailing everyone can post here.

I think there focusing on this test to see how it goes because this is there largest test yet. They won't get ahead of themselves by any means. If they do open it up to more resorts next month its not going to be many resorts maybe 6 or 8 total instead of the four right now. There experiencing some problems with current testing and I don't see them expanding it without them getting that fixed first. Well just have to wait and see I guess.

I have heard testing is going well, and live cold come in October, so more than likely we will continue to see more and more additions on through August into September, IMHO

I too am going in September. As far as I can tell NO hotels have been issued bands for September yet. For August they didn't start inviting until over half way through. All I can do is wait. I know that my hotel has not yet been tested (Wilderness Lodge) but that doesn't mean it will be in September.

We are checking in on Oct. 31st (maybe even 30th, depending on the flights). Hope we'll get pick to test MagicBands! My Disney Experience is all set up if we're chosen!

I called yesterday (for something else) but found out while on the phone that currently Animal Kingdom Jambo House and Yacht Club are the only resorts getting magic bands for Sept. I was hoping for them but we're at Caribbean Beach. Oh well! Here's hoping they'll add more resorts!

I have heard a very good explanation concerning all of NextGen, which includes MagicBands, Fastpass Plus, My Disney Experience, RFID tickets and everything related.

The description is from a friend who is a very high-level Technical Specialist in Disney's IT department: "This is a railroad claimed to be in full operation while they are still building the locomotive".

Everything is in testing and development. There is nobody who can give any accurate answer about any of these, or their interactions.

Everything is still subject to change on a daily basis.

And nobody has any idea when when everything will work. My personal opinion, also, is that Bob Iger's public statements are prepared by the PR department and not by knowledgeable people.

I'm at POR in mid-November. I'm doing room only w/AAA discount and I hadn't planned to buy my tickets until just before I leave or even when I get there since they are non-refundable. It doesn't sound likely, from the above comments, that it will open up to all resorts by then, but if they did open up POR would it help my chances of getting the band if I already had my tickets? I've already set up my resort and dining reservations on MDE but didn't know if I should go ahead and buy tickets, too, to help my chances of being chosen.

Any thoughts?

To date, YC and BC are considered separate for MB testing. YC is part of the August test and BC is not.

We're staying at Pop in Sept, and already have our Magic Bands. I never received an email. I checked MDE randomly one day, and saw the option to customize our Magic Bands. I was like, "What Magic Bands?" Ha! Anyway, I customized our bands, we chose our FP+, and our bands shipped out very quickly. They were at my front door about a week after we customized them. The only email I received was to alert me that our bands had shipped--and they arrived at my door the same day I got the email (they shipped from Memphis and we live in the New Orleans area, so by the time the auto-email was sent, they were on the truck for delivery lol). Received our bands on Aug 1st.

Haha, ya know what, we DO check in on the last day of Aug. We've gone in Sept every.stinkin'.year. So it just rolls off my tongue to say we go in Sept every year. But yes, for the first time ever, we're checking in on the last day of Aug. So sorry for any confusion! Are the MB's not being tested by ppl checking in in Sept?

September hotels haven't been announced for magic bands. But I knew Pop was testing for August dates. So that one day got you a magic band. Congrats!!
