Is anyone planning to take advantage of this year's four-day weekend in September for school districts that vacation on Rosh HaShannah? Am I right in thinking that it might not be horribly crowded, since many school districts do not recess for Jewish holidays?

I'm a teacher and generally have to vacation when school is not in session. I've been thinking that this particular long weekend might not be as crowded as summer, Christmas and Easter vacation weeks. Any thoughts?

September 16-19

School starts here on September 13, then the kids are out again on the 16 and 17.

You bet. We're taking advantage of the kids being out of school, a great airfare from AA, and AP rates to sneak in a surprise trip 9/15 - 9/19.

We're one of the few districts in our area that has those days off, unlike the conventional holidays like Columbus day, etc when every one is off.

In souht FL (I am looking at the school calendar now), the kids have thursday off, but not friday.

Our school district only gets Thursday off. I don't think it will be significantly crowded. Have fun!
