I know this probably gets asked quite often, but does anyone have any experience of Orlando in September? Good or bad.

I'm just wondering generally about things like weather and queues, as I've only been once before in July.

Also, how easy is it to get around without a car? We're at the Peabody which, I'm pretty sure, doesn't have shuttles.

I'm quite new here, so I'm sorry if I've missed a few threads on this.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Krystal

September is a fantastic time to go. Kids are in school and the parks are very quiet during the day, especially very early in the day. I find the tricks to keep out of theme parks at the weekend also.
You can get rain, but we've been 3 times in September and have only lost 1 day to it. It's still very warm also.

We go in 2 weeks again and can't wait. I wouldn't go at any other time, with the possible exception of Xmas.

Getting around without a car I can't help you with as we've always driven, but that's personal choice, for me I don't want to spend thousands of pounds on a 2 week trip that flies by, then spend time waiting for a bus to come, I'd rather drive around in my own air conditioned car and not have to be a slave to a timetable, but like I say that's me.

We are not having a car and are staying on I-Drive. Last time we used the trolley which goes up and down International drive and the Lynx bus, it wasn't too bad they were pretty much on time.

Weather in September :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Remember last year? Hurricanes? I hope that was the exception since I was there for one of them and wouldn't care to do it again in a hurry.

However, I have been before in September and it was great - still a bit too hot for me (no pleasing some people :teeth: ) but the very low attendance in the parks more than made up for it.

I've no experience of getting around without a car, but there have been many posts on this subject and many people are quite happy to recommend it, especially from International Drive. The Peabody is a beautiful hotel - not stayed there but I've eaten at the B-Line diner many times - and I'm sure you'll love it.

September IS Hurricane Season but (touch wood) we were lucky last year and managed to avoid them.

The crowds were very low - the only time we queued for anything was Space Mountain at MK.

You can get to US/IOA, SeaWorld and Wet n Wild by using the trolley bus that goes up and down I-Drive but it's a bit harder to get to Disney. You need to get the I-Ride trolley to SeaWolrd (well, the stop before) and then catch the Lynx bus (No 50) from there to the TTC. It can be done and it is relatively cheap but it takes a while. Often, though, while you're waiting for the Lynx bus, taxis will come along and offer to take you for a few dollars each - that's a great deal if that happens so take them up on it!

Which TA did you book with? Sometimes (I know Virgin does this) you can book transportation through your TA, to get you to the parks.

Alternatively (and I shouldn't say this but I know others do it) you can always find a hotel that does have shuttle buses and see if you can use theirs.

Have a great time.

Hi Krystal, always happy to see other 'Leeds' on the boards! This year will be the third time I've been to Orlando in September, as the others have said, it's a great time of year to go, the crowds are less busy and you should see a major difference in queueing times from your previous holiday in July!

I'm not driving this year either, the I-ride trolley is great for getting to Seaworld, Universal and all the main I-drive restaurants, shops etc - I think the longest I've ever waited has been 15 minutes. As for Disney, I'm not sure if the Peabody does have transport but if you ask at reception they may be able to get the various coaches to stop by anyway - if you don't ask you don't get!

As for hurricanes, we caught Hurricane Jeanne last year and had to stay indoors for a day, not ideal but seeing a hurricane 'up-front' was an awesome experience!

We went in September last year, and are off there again on 7th September :cheer2: It's a brilliant time to go :cool1:

We never drive when we are there, and have never had any problems getting around. We use the Lynx bus a lot and it is very cheap. We stay on I-Drive and find it easy to get everywhere we want to go :flower:

WE used the Lynx a lot the first time we stayed at maingate and it ran really regularly, never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a bus even after park closing

I went in September 2 years ago and it was fantastic. The weather was lovely, and queues were non existent, longest was about 10 mins for test track. It rained hard in the afternoon for about 5 mins everyday, and then was fine again. Didnt need a water proof coat as it was nice to get wet and cool for a while. Perfect time to go on the water rides.
This year going in October, so hope its just as nice.

;) Brilliant time to visit we went 2002 and the crowds were very managable and weather fantastic, just expect the odd shower 2-3pm it rains for about half an hour usually. The www.IRideTrolley.com website can give you lots of useful info and prices staff were very friendly and always on time and the trolley itself vey clean I think the green line stops right outside your hotel and if you get a 7 day pass it does not cost any extra to change lines. Some of the hotels on I Drive do a shuttle bus to Disney you may find out in a brochure or on their own website, there may be a small charge.Previous posts about the Linx bus service are correct if memory serves well you can also find more info on their website too. I recall the linx 50 stops at the ttc (ticket and transportation centre) at Disney where you can jump on a Disney bus or take the monorail to Epcot or Magic Kingdom.Buses seemed to be every 10-15 mins but check the timetable before you go. ;) :lovestruc Have fun, Wifey

You don't say when in Sept but be aware the Us has a Bank holiday (Labor day) at the begining of Sept,so the parks will be busy that weekend.Other than that the parks will be quiet & a little busier at weekends,I think the water parks can get really busy at the weekend so we try to plan around that.
We have only ever been once out of Sept & unless we could fit a May in,wouldn't go at any other time. Can be a bit hit & miss weather wise,we've had a couple of holidays completely rained out, others just rained for about 30 mins each day,no rain & Hurricane Jeanne last year! We have noticed that the weather get's a bit more predictable towards the end of Sept,I think statistically May & Oct are their driest of the "hot" months.
Again can't help with transport as we always drive but you do see plenty of I-trolleys about,we just like the freedom of the car!

I love september, low crowds, not too hot, there are often showers in the afternoon, and the ligtening can be spectacular. There is the risk of hurricanes if you are in Orland it doesn't often get hit and the hotels are OK anyway.

:cheer2:

Thanks everyone. I'm so excited. Hopefully that weather will be nice, but I'll let you all know when I get back.

We have been about 20 to WDW and about 8 times in September. I think it is the best time to go, no crowds, weather is great! last yeah was an exception with the hurricanes, we never had problems before!
