September Ducks are Flying Towards Fall

It's been a long time since I've stopped by for a quick quack-out to my duck buddies! I'm sending you a new teammate, eyor44/Lisa, who will be doing this year's 5K and 1/2. I'm sure you'll welcome her with open wings! :lmao:

:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:

Lisa, glad to have you join us duckies.

Hello Ducks, it is that time of the week again. My miles for the last week, 15th to the 21st, is 150 miles biking in 9.5 hours.

Welcome to our newest duckie, Lisa!

And have a great time at the EEC, SamSam!

Tomorrow I am going into the city to be in the audience of the Daily Show. They did a pretty funny piece on our work a few months ago. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-april-30-2009/large-hadron-collider

Have a good week, everyone! Keep running!

Please let us know how it goes! Sounds like fun!

I plan to have terrific fun at EEC....just worried about the scavenger hunt:scared1:Dh and I are both 'challenged' in this area. However, we will try to represent the Team in a 'somewhat' responsible manner. :goodvibes

My hours/miles for week ending 9/21 (my birthday):
345 minutes 15.3 miles

:cheer2::cheer2: Welcome to our new teammate!!! :woohoo::woohoo: Lisa, I look forward to seeing and reading all of your posts. You will have a great time in January. Happy Training!

Sharon Hope you have a blast with the EE!! Good luck!:woohoo::cheer2:

I have noticed that I haven't posted my totals for the last 2 weeks. Still don't have a full time computer. I have borrowed a laptop from a friend until mine gets fixed. I will try to get on her more often though.

My totals for the last 2 weeks are:

9-14
Miles - 65
Hours - 9.25

9-21
Miles - 77
Hours - 10

Not a lot but I will attempt to do better this next week to finish the month off right.

Hope everyone is having a great month!!!

Bryan

Thank you, thank you for the very warm welcome. Glad to be here.
I will be walking the 5K and 1/2. I have walked my dog for years, but just decided to do this in March, so I have actually been training since then. I try to walk three evenings a week 4-5 miles each evening with longer walks on Saturday mornings. I am up to 7.5 miles on Saturdays. I am averaging 14-15 minute miles. I have just begun to add strength training also and that is going slow, but figure will get easier as I get used to it.

Hi, Duckies!!

:goodvibes
Lisa...welcome!! Since you are new, what we do here, besides try to encourage each other, is track our miles of movement, and hours/minutes of exercise. We report on the 7th, 14th, 21st, and last day of the month (so the last "week" is usually more like 10 days). If you have any totals from your past training (if you have kept a log), feel free and let me know, otherwise, we'll start right now!

Any exercise---walking, running, biking, cross-training, weights, yoga, etc...counts as your activity hours/minutes (however you want to list that is fine...). And then count your miles for the things such as walking/running/biking/swimming.
If you do a race, the miles count double! So if you did a 5K race...instead of adding in 3.1 miles, you get credit for 6.2.

That's it in a nutshell....sort of brief, so if you have any questions, any of us would be happy to help.

Oh, and the spreadsheet everyone's miles/hours is on is located here:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhkQlDatUiUqcHk4X1UxVHMxZnFBb2xUM3F4elFmS0E&hl=en

I try to updated the spreadsheet every week, but I travel a lot and get behind. :rolleyes1

Now....
everyone needs to get to posting, as there are lots of holes in the spreadsheet! And I'll admit..I am one of them. and am off to vacation tomorrow, so I don't even have my totals together for the last week. Though there will be some double miles, since I did another tri last weekend (and totally sucked on the bike, which is so not like me!). Oh, well, it was fun, and now it's really time for Goofy training.

Kira is getting over an injury...everyone send good vibes her way!

Will get everything caught up on Sat night or Sunday!

Thank you for the information. I was logging on tonight to figure out how you all post. I have kept a loose log of my mileage and time. I think I can have something for the end of the month. I tried to get to the spreadsheet, but it wanted a login and password.:confused3 Help?

Thank you all for the very warm welcomes.

I just wanted to say WELCOME to the Team :thumbsup2 to Lisa.

Sorry I did not post my totals last week. I've had a sick child and wife at the house, so needless to say it hasn't been alot of fun (training) the last week and a half. Any way my totals for Sept. 15 - 21 were

Ah, the end of September. And into the busy month of October!

Hope everyone had a good month. SamSam, how dids EEC go? I have read some sad stories about it. I know Disney cannot control the weather, but some of the other things that happened, volunteers not being there, baggage left unprotected, bad communication, all seem to be very un-Disney..... Is it correct as to what I have heard, that Disney is not involved in the planning and orginazation of these events, it is an outside company? I have heard only positives about the marathon weekend, is the same company involved in that? Hope ToT turns out better!

Anyway, here to report mileage, the last 9 days of the month I had 245 miles biking and 14 hours, 45 minutes for the time. Although not a race i participated in a ride called Tour of the Hamptons, of which I did the 65 mile route.

Hope everyone has a good month and good October. If all goes as planned I will be doing a race every weekend, three duathlons and the ToT.

Keep moving!

Augie

My first post of training for Sep 21-30.

Walking

It's deceptively high. I commute by bike a few days a week. It's all lumped together. I've been running 12-13 miles a week for a few months. Hope it's enough to start.

Ronda

Hi Ducks felt like a Duck lately with all the rain. I hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for the WDW Marathon weekend.

Miles for 9-21-30

Running
67 Miles
9.50 hours

Biking
125 miles
10 hours

Have a great week everyone. Rich

Hi team. Dh and I were in the EEC and being in the 10th wave (and walking) we were right in the middle of the deluge. :) We did have fun, but it was raining so hard at times that it was hard to see. The party was over by the time we finished and it was still raining plus we were drenched, so we were more than happy to head back to AKV and take a hot shower and just relax.

Here's my mileage/hours for the last week of Sept.

210 minutes 13 miles

We are fully into enjoying the Wine and Food Fest, so although I willl work out a little, my numbers will definitely be low the next couple of weeks. :)

Hello from a long-lost Duck!

Hopefully I am not too late for a September report. I finally got everything in one place and totaled it up, so you are getting all my miles and hours for September at once.

Here you go:
Minutes - 670 (11 hours 10 minutes)
Miles - 30

My totals include running, walking, biking, and my new favorite cross-training work, Pilates. I am pretty proud of myself about what I was able to accomplish coming off an injury, and I am now easing into my Marathon training, and keeping up with it well. In fact, I am about to go downstairs to the fitness center (I'm in Anaheim at a conference) to log my first miles of October.

I have heard from a couple of you that you have missed me here, and I am sorry I have been so scarce. I know that October will be much better, and I look forward to hanging out with all of you on the new thread!

bumping this up!

Is there an October thread? I can't seem to find it! I'll repost my September hours there if that will help get them counted!

I am setting up the October thread now. Sorry for the delay. Haven't had a computer for the last several days. Will try to do better.

Hope everyone is doing well.
Bryan
