September DL Trip/ HM Holiday Closure

Howdy everyone!

So I am planning a trip to DL in September about a week or so after labor day. I know that The haunted mansion closes so that they can put up the holiday theme. I am wondering if anyone knows about when they close it and for how long? Also, when does Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween days start?

At this point we do not yet know when HalloweenTime will start, but based on the past it'll probably be somewhere between September 12 and 18 (my guess is closer to the 12th). HMH has typically re-opened with the start of HalloweenTime (as does SMGG - which usually only closes for 4 days or so). HM usually closes in mid-August to install the overall (it takes approximately 18-days to install the overlay). (While you didn't mention it, Space Mountain also goes down for 4-days to install the Ghost Galaxy overlay.)

For the last few years Mickey's Halloween Parties have started on the last Friday in September. There are rumors that the MHP will undergo some changes this year, but we do not know if that means more parties, an earlier start to the parties, or a wholesale change in location, etc. Last year, tickets were not announced/released until July, so it's likely we won't know anything concrete for a few more months.

Ghost Galaxy usually re-opens when HalloweenTime starts. Historically it has closed for 4-days (so for example, starting on a Monday and re-opening on a Friday) to install the overlay.

Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy (SMGG, as referred to by figment_jii above) starts when Halloween Time starts, which is when Haunted Mansion Holiday Starts. At this moment we are not yet sure when Halloween Time is starting. I have said for the last year or two that I don't think it will start on September 11th. Even WDW's Halloween festivities are getting a bit of a later start this year than in some previous years. So I tend to think that our Halloween Time will begin somewhere before 9/18, but probably between 9/12 - 9/16.
