September 30, 2012 - "To San Francisco and Beyond"

I called DCL today to see if I could motivate the pixie dust:tinker:
I think it was very nice of the agent not to laugh at me when I asked.:rotfl2:

I know don't worry, be happy. :dance3:

Haha! Yeah, it'd be nice, but we'll take what we get. I mean, it's not like we really spend that much time in our cabin anyway!

The wedding cake our friends had for their DCL wedding was tasty. We haven't ordered a DCL bday cake. They will bring the little Disney celebration cake to the table automatically if a birthday is on your reservation (maybe anniversary too?). I don't know if they offer candles??

I'm not sure if the cake always hits the right day... I think the one year we traveled on Sabrina's bday it did?? Other trips we were celebarting birthdays that were slightly before/after the trip so the day didn't matter.

Sabrina turns 12 on Sept. 21, so I put "Birthday" on our reservation. I expect some random night the little cake will show up. :cake:

Our personal experience with ordering a cake was from the Dream in January. It was AWFUL. They actually remade it and it was just as bad the second time around. A cheap grocery store cake would have tasted much better. Instead I'd make sure your servers know it's a special occasion and they will bring out a small treat that is pretty tasty.

I have to agree, go for the 'celebration cake' that the servers provide. I had just graduated on our last cruise, we decided to skip the pre-ordered cake. Meg just mentioned it to our server one night after I'd left the dining room and the next night they brought out the celebration cake and a badge, it was really nice! It was small, but they brought it out after dessert and I was slready so full I didn't come close to finishing it! I know we'd never have gotten though one of those big ones.

How is the Bracelet Making Brigade doing? Did you still want us to PM adddresses to you for mailing or are you handing them out at the Meet & Greet.

We're getting a lot more folks joining our "To San Francisco and Beyond" cruise. Please let us know if you need help or money :thumbsup2

The Bracelet Brigade is doing well! We actually just started today:rolleyes1 They are simple to do and my daughters are having fun helping.
I think I will just bring them with me and everyone can pick them up at the meet on the 30th. For the adults I am going to make 7, 8 and 9 inch lengths. Please advise if you think that you will need larger than that.

Thanks!
Jodi

Hello Everyone, My DD suggested checking Groupon for deals. She said on the San Diego Groupon there is a deal for Vistaprint. Thought I'd pass it along.

It's a pretty good deal... $17 for $70 worth of stuff. Tax and s/h not included

It looks like we are in cabin 2000 which would be cat9b but it lists it as being cat 11b which was our original guaranty. Will this change or is it assigned for certain? It looks like we were upgraded except that it still lists our original category. I am happy paying an inside price for an ocean view if I am reading it correctly!

Sorry I can't help you :(

I'm just wondering if you were GTY or IGT because were still waiting on our IGT assignment :)

Fingers crossed that is you're stateroom, that would be an awesome upgrade!

Normally I don't workout on board (its always ben too hot) but because the weather will be so nice I may do some running outdoors and also lots of walking. Any others going to try and fit some exercise in???

I'm not into the gym so much but I do enjoy a walk or light jog around the track. My DH and I try and hit it a few times in the morning before the boys get up. The weathers not to hot then either but that won't matter with this fall cruise.

We are celebrating my sons 6th birthday on October 2. He is so excited. I can't decide if I should order a cake or not. They normally aren't that great and are so big. I'm afraid it would go to waste and they are $$$

We celebrated my sons 3rd birthday on our Med cruise back in 2010 and they brought us out a cake. I heard now you have to actually pre-order them (and obviously they're not cheap). I would recommend just hitting up the servers to see if there is something they can bring.

From what I understand they will always list your original category because that's the rate at which you were charged in case you want to upgrade at the port.

It looks like 2000 is indeed a 9C so you've been upgraded :cool1:

Your ressie will always show your original category that you booked. Yay for your upgrade. I'm thrilled with our upgrade too

I agree. I'm sure our server will do something I will just have to figure out a way to get him to stay for the entire dinner (we are lucky if they stay 1/2 hour before asking to go play in Oceaneers).

. I don't mind spending money on a cake if it was good and wouldn't go to waste. There is always so much food. I thought about a cupcake with a candle. I will probably bring some fun decorations for the table.
