We are thinking of a last minute day or two at DL Sept 28/29, but I just saw that touring plans is predicting crowd levels of 9 on the 29th (Thurs). Does anyone know why this is?

September 29th is a Jewish holiday, and MANY of the school districts are completely closed that day. So...a tiny fraction of the students celebrating the holiday, and everyone else thinks it's a great mid-week day to go to Disneyland!

Out of curiosity, what does Touring Plans say for earlier in the week, like Sept. 26, 27 & 28?

Thanks.

Thanks for your quick response:thumbsup2. I couldn't think of any reason why a Thursday in September would be so busy.

It'll be busy as it's my husband's birthday! haha just joking but I couldn't resist, sorry......

I wonder why they are predicting high crowds?? When does the halloween deco's debut?

LOL, but TP has done nothing to convince me they know how to predict daily crowds. Further, I do not trust their historical crowd reports. What they showed happened in June does not jive at all with my own experience and what I read about crowds during unblocked AP days.

Sept 29 is a day that DL has park hours of 10AM-8PM. Which means Disney is expecting the lowest of the low crowds. This day is supposed to be more crowded than some of the unblocked days in June which were reported by other sources like MiceAge to have been among the year's busiest days? I don't think so.

Bottom line - I would and do ignore TP's daily crowd predictions.

On the other hand...

I have grown to respect TP's wait time info on their Lines app for the iPhone.

I am beginning to believe this as well. What they show happened during our past Dec trip does not match at all what Sherry E and I both experienced.

I still think it's because of the Jewish holiday. Here are just a few of the school districts (entire districts, not just individual schools) that are closed on Sept 29:

Los Angeles Unified (huge district)
Las Virgenes
Ventura County
Santa Monica/Malibu
Simi Valley
Redondo Beach
Manhattan Beach

I can't think of more school districts in Los Angeles County to Google, but if I could, I'd bet they are off that day.

Well, I'll probably go anyway and hope for the best. I don't think I can be in LA and not go to DL:thumbsup2.

Well I checked again and now they are predicting levels of 2! I think I'll choose to believe them on this:yay:

Dangit! That's my birthday and we're planning to spend the whole day at Disney that day.

We will be there on the 29th also. I had no idea it was a school holiday. What is the prediction now? Hoping for a 2!! :goodvibes

Gay Days Anaheim
The major activities in the parks are on Saturday and Sunday, but this event could still increase crowd levels on Thursday and Friday.

Ugh, we're going to be there 9/28-10/1. Dh is gonna kill me if it's crazy b/c I've convinced him it's gonna be pretty quiet relative to other trips. Good thing he  me ;)

FWIW, I was at DL on Oct 2nd and 3rd/10 during Gay Days. I personally found that the crowds were not much heavier than the rest of my 9 day stay at the mouse during that time. For people who are concerned about visiting the parks during Gay Days don't be. I didn't see more than holding hands and cuddling, found it cute, and there was nothing during Gay Days that offended me in anyway. They wore matching t-shirts but it didn't really matter, as I was at the happiest place on earth, and there we are all equal no matter who we are. In fact I'm heading back to the mouse on Sept 29th with the family to take part in the Halloween celebrations there. That we are going during Gay Days doesn't bother me in the least.

I have heard a rumor that these days are BUSY, can't see Main street busy......SOMEONE PUUHHLLEESSE SAY IT ISN"T SO :sad2:
