Who could do such a thing......Disney Villains maybe?

DIsney Fantasy
Disney Cruise Line USA Today reports security has been increased at a German shipyard after a mysterious water-valve leak caused damage to the 2,500-passenger Disney Fantasy, under construction at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. According to the shipyard, access to the ship was restricted after the incident, which occurred earlier this month. The damage will not impact delivery dates, officials said. While local media reported the ship had been damaged to the tune of $1.2 million, Disney spokeswoman Rebecca Peddle says that's an exaggeration. "There was some water damage that resulted in them having to replace some carpeting. It was not significant," she says. Peddle adds most of the damage has already been repaired. The ship nears completion; delivery is in February and the ship is set to debut from Port Canaveral in March.

I called Southwest and we can book our flight on Jan 22nd!!! On Jan 22nd they are opening their schedule up through the end of Sep however since my friend and I are staying in Disney until Oct 1st we will have to wait to book our flight home until they open up their schedule even more - but either way we book our flight down to Orlando on Jan 22nd!!

OK... we are flying into Orlando on that Friday sometime, where do we book a hotel out? In orlando or in Port Canaveral and will Disney pick us up at the airport on that Fri and take us to our hotel if we have the ground transportation in our package?

DCL will not take you to your Hotel on Friday unless you are staying at WDW. I would suggest that you check out the Hyatt right there in the airport. You still need to grab your bags after your flight but they will be picked up in your room the next morning. I love the Hyatt and that is where we stay when we fly in and are not doing WDW first.

You bring up an interesting scenario...we will be coming home on either the 29th or 30th. (it was going to be the 29th, but now they have announced the tower of terror 10 mile race at DHS on the 29th, we might do it!) We signed up for the southwest rewards credit card to get the free flights. The offer said "two round trip flights free." they show up as 50,000 points though in our rapid rewards account. So, should we be able to use those points to buy four one way out bound flights right away on January 22 when they open up, or will that not work. We have never used reward points before! I might just have to call southwest.

Thanks Dustin for the information on booking the Southwest Flights on January 22, 2012. I have been checking every day to book my flights. Like you, I will have to wait to book my return flight for October. Thanks again:thumbsup2

What is the cost per night at the Hyatt? So you get off the plane at the airport, walk over the the Hyatt and the next day walk back over to the airport and catch the DCL bus to Port Canaveral.

My understanding is once you arrive at mco you get your luggage and to to the hyatt i belive the hotel is on the third leavel (spelling not my greatest) you tell them that you are taking a dcl and the desk clerk hands you a nice printed letter that explaines everything. As far as the cost per night i haven't a clue due to the fact that i booked my air and trassfers through dcl. can't belive the fantasy leaves the ship yard on saturday dose any one know what time she will leave and what time would that be on the west coast

Float out of Disney Fantasy

New ship leaves shipyard's covered building dock

Papenburg, 5 January 2012 – The new cruise ship for the U.S. cruise company Disney Cruise Line (Orlando), the Disney Fantasy, will leave MEYER WERFT's covered building dock on Sunday, 8 January 2012. Around 11 a.m. the new ship will slowly be floated out of the covered hall, followed by a couple of tests and trials to be performed while the ship is in the harbour.

When the ship is berthed alongside the yard's pier the remaining work on board will be completed, for example the installation of the mast.

The ship is scheduled to be conveyed to the North Sea two weeks later. The passage on the river Ems will be depending on the weather and tidal conditions.

The Disney Fantasy has a length overall of 340 m, is 37.0 m wide and can operate at a speed of 23,5 knots. Delivery of the ship to the owner will take place as planned in Bremerhaven on 9 February 2012.

The undocking procedure will be broadcast live via webcam on the internet:

I believe it was in the 200.00 range but well worth it for the convience.

Exit your flight and pick up yopur bags. Do Not put your DCL tags on them until later on Friday. Tell the staff at the Hyatt front desk that you are taking a DCL cruise when you check in and they will give you current instuctions for the next morning. They will pick up your bags in your room the next morning. You take your paperwork and your carry on and are taken to the DCL bus to the port. (It was in the hotel lobby but I now thing you return to the airport and check in there) Lois

So...we upgraded today, to a 9D GTY. Does that mean it's basically an Oceanview GTY in general and we might end up with 9D or 9C or 9B or whatever?... or are we guaranteed to get a 9D stateroom, but just don't get to choose which one? TIA :confused3

Ok, thank you. I actually rather like the look of the 9D staterooms, lol, so I will be happy with whatever we get. When should I expect to be notified of our stateroom number? Somewhere around 30 days out? :)

Hello everyone!

Just booked. We are a family of four. I am dying in anticipation of seeing my 5 year old daughter and 3 year old son's faces as they board the ship and meet some of their favorite characters. Coming in from Phoenix on the 20th, staying two nights at WDW (not sure where yet). Our Cruise Rep talked us into getting two adjoining cabins instead of one for $200 more total. Double the space and some peace and quiet as the kids sleep.

Looking forward to learning about some fun activities or ideas we can do with our children. For example, how many hours a day do you normally like to check your kids into the kids club? Or any excursions the kids and us would love at St. Thomas, St. Maarten? Or how Castaway Cay works with kids our age. All tips and suggestions welcome. My kids are fishes, can already swim on their own. May take the 5 year old snorkeling or swimming with dolphins if the opportunity presents itself.

My wife is crafty. She'll probably want to join the fish extender group, although I admit this is a foreign concept we don't know much about.

Have a great day!

Welcome to our group. Be sure to read page one post one for details on what we already have in the Planning process. Ask any questions you might have and I am sure someone will have the answer. Looking forward to meeting you in the future. Lois
