September 2014 Discount Watch!

I might be the only one but Any hint of what the room only discounts (if any) will be?

Not eligible for FD since I got my tickets from Orbitz before the ticket increase. Hoping to save a little more on the room if possible (sept 13 - 30)

Thanks!!!

So FD isn't available if you get park tickets elsewhere? Guess it's a good thing I haven't bought them yet. Even though I think FD wouldn't be as good a deal for me as a RO discount.

Anyone know if RO discounts for this time of year end up better than 20% for value resorts?

If you currently have a room-only booking, and then you switch to a package for free dining, I understand they cancel your room-only and start with a new booking for the package. So in that case, do you lose all your existing dining reservations when they cancel the room-only reservation?

Is there a certain time of day that Disney opens up promotions? Do you have to get on the phone right away like ADR in order to get your resort of choice?

Thanks!

7am EST and if your resort is one of the smaller and more popular ones, I would say that it is a good idea to call in as soon as you can since each hotel only has an alloted amount of rooms available for the discount. Remember that some resorts could be excluded if Disney sees them booking good without a promo. Just don't book until the promo is already out since that is what causes resorts to be excluded,

With that being said, Last year my daughter was wanting to take her family to Disney. She was not a Disboard stalker (like me) and never knew that FD was even available (I wasn't looking for a promo last year so I wasn't lurking). On June 1st (her birthday) she saw an advertisement and thought "happy birthday to me" I am going to go to Disney World. She called and booked a FD trip for September with no problem at all and the FD promo had been out for 3 weeks. She was not picky about the resort and she was flexible with her dates, she only knew that she wanted Value and QS. She was able to book POP which was actually her first choice. Hopefully it will all work out for us all that are yearning for FD:thumbsup2

:tinker:Pixie dust that we all get exactly what we want:goodvibes

Does Disney offer FD to certain groups of people before the general public? I have a Disney visa but can't remember if I've received email offers in the past.

Thanks

Eva

No. Dining reservations won't cancel.

In the past during some of the discount offers Disney Visa card holders have had an opportunity to book 2-4 days in advance as long as they used their Disney Visa to pay the $200 deposit on their trip. There have been some offers excluded from the early Disney Visa bookings. There is no rhyme nor reason as to why they exclude some but its true.
Disney Visa is not the best about notifying their card holders about this and they are even worse about posting it on their website. Keep an eye out on these boards cause it will start blowing up as soon as it is announced.
During the summer promo's that were just announced in March, I found out a day or 2 ahead, right here on Disboards before I ever got my email from my Disney Visa. I didn't even get my Disney Visa email until 3:30pm on the day of the promo. If you get an email from your Disney Visa, it will come from the email "Disney Rewards".

Hope this helps :disrocks:

Same here. I had FD added to my reservation 6 hours before I got the email from Disney visa. I of course found out here first. And only was on hold 45 minutes.

Hi erinmarie2224 :wave2: You're not the only one :sad2: We were soooo excited for FD, however, since our desire is to stay at a deluxe resort, have been running the numbers and created about a bazillion spreadsheets :faint: after all the calculations settled, looks like the RO discount will be the better deal for our family ::yes:: I'm anxiously awaiting word of any RO discounts :hyper:

I'm hoping for RO discounts too! Any idea when they will be released?

Question, well a few questions.

1. Is free dining usually offered at AoA?
2. Is it offered in the Family Suites?
3. Is it a QS dining plan that is offered?

Obviously these are generalities, or assumptions based on the few past years, but I'm trying to figure out if a room only discount or free dining would better suit our needs. Thanks in advance!

This is so right. People get a bit freaked out over the release. Truth is, once the initial shock of the first day happens, more rooms open up as people cancel and move around. I've known people to get what they want weeks after the announcement. Sure, a few room types and maybe a resort will be unavailable, but it's not difficult to get something great.

1. Never offered at the Mermaid rooms.
2. Usually offered in at least some of the suites.
3. It is the QS plan; however, you can upgrade to the regular plan by paying the difference.

We would really, really like to go back to WDW the second week in September, and we would like to stay in Wilderness Lodge. I read about "discounts" and PINs (I even read the "sticky") but I am still confused.

When - and if - early September discounts are ever "announced," just HOW are they announced? Are they just automatically in the web site, or does one have to know just where - and how - to look.

Thanks for any insight you can offer...

Rob

Hi abja09 :wave2:

Unfortunately, I have no idea when the RO discounts for September will be released

Am hoping the Dis Whisperer {black562} knower of all things, will chime in and enlighten us :worship:

I'll keep checking the boards until the word comes out, that's the best way to find out ::yes::

I have no reason to believe that room discounts won't be included. But at this point, all eyes are on free dining. :confused3

The Dis is probably your best bet. Things go crazy when a discount is released. Often times discounts aren't in the website until later in the day.

Hi Joe :wave2:

Thanks much for responding :worship:

Yeah... all eyes are on free dining... I hope everyone is able to benefit once FD comes out :thumbsup2

In the meanwhile, I'll keep my eyes out for room discounts :surfweb:

Truly appreciate you ::yes::

No. Dining reservations won't cancel.

Thank you!

I would greatly prefer a room-only discount, but it's good to know I wouldn't lose my dining reservations if I switched from a room-only to package. The last time I did that they first canceled my room-only, so I was afraid that would dump my dining reservations in the process.

Is POR a more difficult resort to get during FD? With a family of five we don't really have a lot of options to even consider other resorts. I don't want to have to wake up at 6am to call in if not really necessary.

Eva

In the past I have been able to add a Free Dining discount to already-made reservations. (I did this in 2007 and in 2009.) Has this changed?

Will I have to entirely rebook if I get a PIN code? And more importantly, will I not get a PIN code if I am already booked?

Anyone who knows about this stuff -- your answer would be greatly appreciated!

(And I'm sorry if I am not posting this in the right place -- I am brand new here, so I am not sure where to ask these types of questions.)
