September 2010 Check-In

I have to admit I agree...I was sort of hoping to have a quiet, WOC-free day over in DCA. Now I'm hoping that weekday mornings will still be quiet. I just want a few hours of calm before the evening storm!

Something tells me that DCA will be quiet during weekdays in Sept, WOC or no WOC. Definitely much quieter than the summer!

For those of you worried about Alice being closed in Sept., I did a little research.... Not being a real fan of Al Lutz, I decided to find some more info on the subject :) The LA Times posted an article this morning regarding the closure. They confirmed that OSHA did not mandate the closure of the ride and spoke with a Disneyland official who said that it was a preventative measure and that they plan to have the ride back up and running in the next few weeks. So, it sounds like that is at least one attraction that those of us with Sept. vacation dates should get to enjoy :thumbsup2
Unfortunately, for my 17th & 18th visiting days, Alice appears closed on the calendar. DD & I were very excited for that ride, since we've been to WDW only and this one was new. Now we're sad :sad1:, sooo sad that it's closed!! :sad2:

I'm taking the Alice stuff with a grain of salt. I have a feeling they don't know exactly how long it will take. So I might hold out a bit of hope for it to open sooner than the calendar says. They are probably just putting that up there for a long time because it's better for it to open earlier than scheduled than it would be for it to stay closed longer than the calendar says.

You can add us to the list too - originally DH & I were going to WDW in Sept/Oct for the Food & Wine Fest, but we ended up buying a Jeep, so we'll be driving down the coast from Vancouver to Anaheim instead. We have a WDW trip still planned for May (Disney Cruise) so we'll add some WDW days on there instead - decided that I'll miss DL (it's my "home" park ;)) too much to not do it for another year or so, so this works out better - I get to do both parks & the cruise within a year! :thumbsup2

We'll be at GCV 09/28 & DLH 09/29-09/30 (though we're hoping that we'll get a room at GCV using our points - we're on waitlists currently).

I'm crossing my fingers for Al Lutz to be right about WOC for the end of Sept. I'll be really sad if we don't get to see it during that time.

I am so bummed that Haunted Mansion and TSM will be down while I am there :( The DH and DS6 have not been on TSM yet and I know they would have LOVED it. :sad1:

It's official, my wife and I won the weightloss competition that was sponsored by my work (I mentioned it earlier in this thread). Our results for anyone who cares, I took first place ($2,000) and lost 48 lbs (83 pounds total for the year). My wife took second place ($1,500) and lost 20 lbs.

Disneyland...here we come!

WOW caimakale..congrats to u and the wife on taking 1st and 2nd place and loosing all that weight. And for winning $$ and taking a trip to Disney together.

I will be at Disney August 31st-September 1st and staying at the GCH for the first time. I used to live not even 30 minutes away from the park so I never stayed onsite til last year when we stayed at DLH, not in the new rooms. It was great to stay onsite, however, we didnt like the rooms much. I would like to stay there again but this time in the newly renovated rooms however if we booked 2 night stay at GCH using our DIsney Visa, then in return they will give us a $200 gift card. (DHL would be $150)The main reason we picked those dates is because its only $430 wo taxes/fees. I checked middle of August and its $530 wo taxes/fees. Then I was thinking about going Sept 7th-9th since its only $430, but I checked on the Calendar and WOC isn't showing...well as of yet...I also thought of going Sept 15th-17th (my bday is the 15th) but the prices is once again $530plus no WOC. So the only real solution as of now, is to go August 31st-September 1st, so I still get the late closing of the parks as well as WOC. Summer nights end August 29th, I believe, but do you think my dates would still have the summer crowds? I know the so cal AP holders get unblocked the week prior.

Also, if Disney ends up showing WOC during the weekdays in September, (im gonna wait to book til mid August to make sure) and I decide to book September 7th-8th instead, how do you think crowds would be at that time, it being after labor day? Any knowledge would be greatly appeciated! I CANT WAIT!! :]

I will also be at the parks again in october (i know im spoiled :} ) I went last year and loved the space mtn overlay. I also went Xmas time in December. Wow such a difference in holidays. Never again during christmas time lol

Congrats! That's awesome!! We're also from UT and it looks like we will be there around the same time! :)

Just checked the Disneyland.com park hours calender and... WOC has been added to every night up thru the Sept. 21st (the last day listed so far)! Couldn't be more excited! I'm pretty sure they won't stop the shows on the 21st (although it seems anything is possible with this calender! :rotfl: ) so, I'm confident that we will get to see WOC during our 22-27 stay. :cool1: Looks like they have 2 shows listed for Fri, Sat, and Sun (9 & 10:15) and one show listed on weeknights (8:15).

WAHOO!!! :dance3:

For the 20th-22nd they have WOC listed at 8:15, but it says CA closes at 6:00. :confused3. Not sure how that works?

Just booked a quick getaway for DD and I for 9/5-9/8! We are so excited as we haven't been since last November. Hoping to see WOC but am sad that Alice, HM and Toy Story won't be open....oh well - we'll be at Disneyland though!!!!

I'll be interested to see what really happens with the schedule---if they are closing at 6, how can they do WOC at 8:30?? Hmmm. Interesting!! I guess we will see how it plays out.

I'm not overly concerned---if they don't show it, oh well!

Darn. I was really hoping for no weekday WOC and low DCA crowds.

EDIT - Woohoo! Just saw my signature. I'm in the 50's now!

OK, for those you out there that are Sept vets (I am not), how busy has the park been in the past during that month? I know that WOC throws things off a bit, but in general how busy is Sept? We are going to be there during the week after Labor Day.

We are Sept. vets---it's the only time we go! We've had AWESOME luck in th past, not busy at all!! I don't know how WOC will mess things up, but I'm not too concerned.

Sept is our favorite time to go, sometimes October [certain times], but we LOVE Sept!!

DCA weekday hours have been updated- 8pm closing. That's makes much more sense!

Strange to see DL and DCA with the same hours. Bet that's never happened before!
