I stings a little, but it doesn't really hurt, but she told me I had a high threshold for pain. They base your laser settings on what you can tolerate and you skin color. Being that I am pale and have a high threshold, I can go with high settings. I have had it done before and it takes a few treatments to get everything, but you usually don't have to shave for the first few weeks- so I should be pretty good for the trip. It was $135 for armpits. You can buy packages so you can get everything...I usually just go when I want to. You end up with less hair each time. Personally, I like it- I hate shaving.

I've thought about it before and the only thing that's kept me from doing it was how much it would cost, but that doesn't sound too bad. Is it permanent for the most part or is it only temporary? One place here that advertises says it's permanent.

Now here's something to consider as well... the cost? You suppose I could get my chin lasered if the cost was low enough - and what of any scarring? Does that ever happen?

So muchg to consider?

OK...

gotta go now...

Have a wonderful day folks... We're off to return the rental, catch a $1 flick, shop, get a meal and hit the aquarium!

Adios!

Maybe I should rephrase that to say, "did it hurt, bad???"
The answer would be No, it didn't hurt bad. It doesn't really hurt after, just a little sore. They will adjust the laser to what you can tolerate- they do tests, increasing the amount each time.

And to Emily (Rotary) yes, it is permanent, but don't expect it to all be gone in one visit. You go, they zap you. It takes a little while for the hair to fall out, esp. those that were benaeth the surface. For a while you are totally hair free. Then less hair grows back in- and you repeat the cycle. As I don't know how old you are- please take no offense here- it won't work on gray hair, as it does not have pigment. It also won't work on light blonde hair.

I don't think I tolerate pain well, and I think it is okay.

Edited to add: no scars. I have known a few men to do their backs and some men of Africian descent to do their faces due to issues with in-grown hairs and scars.

Congrats on your upgrade!!!! I bet that was a pleasant surprise. :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

Celeste, I might have to look into that sometime. I'm like you I hate shaving. How much is it for legs? I always cut myself and if I could avoid it by having this done would be a big consideration. It should work pretty good on me, I'm only 22 (well, almost) so if I shouldn't have any gray hairs yet. :lmao:

Can some of you give me some advise on what to wear for the Pirate and Tropical nights? Also...what are the fish extenders? This is my first cruise ever (Sept. 17) and I want to do it right!!! :)

Welcome aboard!! Happy to have ya!!

You can't go wrong with whatever you wear. This time around for hubby will be the first time with a pirate costume, he just ordered it from costumesupercenter.com. I found what I am wearing for pirate night..kind of a modern day pirate during our recent trip to Mall of America. Before this we didn't have costumes, just eye patches and earrings and the bandana they give you at dinner. Doesn't matter...everyone has fun on pirate night..lol.

For tropical night..hubby wears shorts and a tropical print shirt, I wear capris and a tropical print shirt..or a tropical print dress. This time will be the first time hubby will have a grass skirt on tropical night..can't wait. If you are traveling with your hubby...most the guys are picking a grass skirt up at their local party store, or orientaltrading.com. The guys will also wear the grass skirts to the sail away party..right..Scott and Bob. This again will be my hubby's first time.

WOW! What a haul of goodies! Now I am confused... :confused3 do the fish extenders get used for everyday utility in the cabin or are they part of a sharing game where we all contribute something to everyone elses' fish extenders in our community? IE.... where did all this "loot" come from and what was the premise? As I would not want to misunderstand and FAIL to contribute properly to the community event??

So far all I know of is we are to have some sort of fish extender decorating contest - divided into two age catagories... :confused3

captaincrash...the fish extender on our panama cruise..lol, was so that all the cabins could accept all the goodies delivered. Debbie found the originals and decided it would make a great gift because so many people were contributing to the cabin gift exchange. It was like christmas almost every day on the ship. Of course..you are not required to participate in the gift giving.

As all you lucky upgraders get your new cabin numbers, don't forget to e-mail Tony so the cruise list will get updated. Lots of lists and fun activities are keyed to cabin number.
