September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

You know, I only got a tiny peek in those sideways cat 11's. How did you kids like them compared to the regular 11's?

.

We stayed in 3 sideways cat 11 cabins (2 families), but we only ended up using 2. We definitely took advantage of the bunk bed and the pack 'n play. The other room was left over for playing cards or hang out while kinds slept.
I would book another sideways cabin.. they did seem roomier.

Hi everyone,
We are home after an amazing 2nd week on the Magic. We really enjoyed the people we dined with, and especially the chocolate covered strawberries!!!!!!!!!!!! We love you Pierre!!! For anyone who cares, I did break something this cruise--------my little toe!;)I have done that several times before, so no biggie---could and has been worse. My pneumonia was getting better, but seems to be winding up again-guess i need to go back on the Magic :lmao: Reckon I could get a doctor's note for that so my insurance will pay? :goodvibes

Also wondering what cruises people booked today? We booked the first Alaska-can we say brrrrrrr/ Vicki

Hope your toe recovers quickly.

We booked the Panama Canal (wanted to do it last time, but too much $$ at that point). Now to just figure out how to pay for it!

Asked DH about Alaska, but he just flat out said NO - it had to be somewhere warm.

Enjoy the PC Kay....we did it last year. It's an awesome cruise with lots of sea days...and did I say, IT'S HOT! ok, we did it in May and you're going in Jan so it should be better, but it will still be HOT!

We booked the Panama Canal...

Have a fab time, Kay!!! It sounds an awesome cruise and it'll be a great experience for your children... :goodvibes

I would LOVE to do the PC unfortunately no one in my family can manage that time of year - apparently it's a 'busy' time for them... :faint: ;) Ah well, maybe another time... :thumbsup2

.... Regarding 2011.....does anyone know what's going on with the Wonder 9/5-9/20???? Last Alaska is 8/30 but the ship doesn't return till 9/20?? Will it be in dry dock in a northern shipyard? Kind of spoils my plan of doing the final Alaska and bringing the ship home to LA. :confused3.

Yes, dry dock in Vancouver between Alaska and LA. We asked about a B2B and learned why it won't work. We booked Alaska Aug 9.

I heard the changes you report too. Sounds like it will make the ship more user friendly for the colder Pacific itineraries.

Jan :earsgirl:

Back in NJ and Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it's only 67 degrees :guilty:

I wanted to let everyone who received the Green Bracelets from their FE that our son was an Organ Donor and they came from them. I am sorry that I ran out so not everyone on the list got one.

Our son was able to donate his eyes, bone, tissue and skin upon his death in May. I know his eyes have been used already. It was very eerie reading the letter about it. But we are very Proud of our son and even in death he was still giving :lovestruc

We're finallyback home after a wonderful cruise and 3 days at WDW. It was wonderful meeting you all. Wish we could have spent more time visiting with you. The green lanyards were a wonderful icebreaker and great conversation starter. Kept running into them all over the ship. DH and I are in "discussions" on whether to take another cruise (me) or buy more DVC points (him). I know we should have done it on ship for either of these but neither of us would give way. Oh well. I hope to see some of you on any future cruises we may take. My kids absolutely adored the kids clubs. My DD even made a friend (kimlovesdisney's DD) that she wants to keep in contact with.

On the next cruise I want to hang out with you guys in whatever lounge you guys were in. Sounds like you guys had fun, oh and I would do late seating for dinner too, it seemed like we missed out on some inboard activities because of our early sitting.

Hopefully we'll be seeing some of you on a future cruise:love:
.
You can book cruises with DVC points :thumbsup2

I know, just doesn't seem like it's a good use of points. I don't know. We probably should have just booked on board, it was a really good deal, and used the extra year's points to book a cruise. We're still "discussing" it. But we did miss out on the deal. I hope someone else was able to take advantage of it.

After going cold turkey, i think I am finally over my addiction to turn dowmn service:sad1: however, I would happily take up that vice again:banana:

Congrats Gene! I enjoyed the time we got to chat - tell Miss Cheryl hello for me![/QUOTTThanks :cool1:we enjoyed meeting everyone and thanks for the Eye patch with the Pink hearts it was Great for my Pirate outfitpirate::banana:we just booked June 24th to Russia and the Baltics - would love to hear from anyone going on that cruise:surfweb:Thanks again for a wonderful cruise everyone:worship:

I think a good use of points is whatever each family decides is best for them. We have cruised on points and on money. Each time many different factors were considered.

What bothers me is when someone on the boards says they are considering using DVC points to cruise and they get told it is not a good use of points. Those other people have no idea how the finances in that family are working out.

Hi! Just wanted to thank everyone for the exceptionally wonderful FE gifts I received! Lots of thought and work went into them and I very much appreciate everything!!:goodvibes

Here's one of the best uses of DVC points:

Renting them to ME whenever I need them! :lmao::thumbsup2:woohoo:::yes::

We'll be on the 1st one right before you. I'm really looking forward to that cruise. It's all countries I've never been to before, so this will truly be an adventure. Definitely looking forward to Germany, our families are from Germany so it will be awesome to see where we came from.

I know what you mean, and I try not to let other's opinion's color my own but it sometimes still sneaks up on me. I believe I am having a case of "not buying remorse!" I think we missed out on the good deal offered on board. I'm still kicking myself over it. And now that I have a clear head and can think getting the 2008 pts and 2009 pts (which would be an extra 200pts if you only added on 100 pts to an existing ownership) would have been the way to go. It probably would have been the perfect solution to our "discussion" and we both would have been happy. Oh well, we're not on board anymore so I can't take advantage of the offer.

Hope everyone is doing well!

I avoided all of the DVC presentations onboard (I was actually getting annoyed with the volume of voice messages they were leaving).

I avoided any temptation.

We use our pts (only have 200 so a cruise is tough, only pays for 1 person and then it's still a large outlay of cash and you reduce your pts by a lot). So that was our whole discussion that we couldn't agree on. He wanted to buy more PTs (100) and I wanted to save for another cruise in 2011 or 2012. In hindsite we probably should have bought the 100 PTA because their offer was that you got the full 2008 pts to use as well as 2009, with the additional 200 pts we could have done 2 adults on pts and paid cash for the kids. But that ship has sailed and we didn't get on it.

We use our pts (we don't rent them) as we go 2-3 times a year. If we end up buying more pts we may end up needing to rent Them, so we'll keep you in mind Jackie (if you're not already planning on staying with Ian)!

I wish we had more time to spend with you all on the ship. Early dinning seemed to put a crimp in our socializing. Maybe next cruise.
