Hi!
I have never been to WDW with a kid before  , but we're bringing my daughter who will be 14 months old :cutie: . We have a backpack style carrier, but I'm thinking a stroller will be a good idea. The Orlando Stroller Rental place seems a little pricey, and I was thinking of bringing our own, but I'm not sure. Has anyone brought a stroller with them (i.e. a regular, not umbrella stroller, like the Graco MetroLite)? How much did it cost with your airline (Air Tran preferably)?

Or, is there a stroller swap going on in any of the All Star resorts for Aug 31 to Sept 5, 2008? :wizard:

I looked at the park strollers, but I want to be able to have it at the resort too.

THANK YOU!! :worship:

We have always brought our own strollers (2) and gate checked them for free. Not sure of Air Trans policy, but you should find out if they gate check and if there is a fee or if it counts against your baggage. You just roll up, get a check ticket, and when boarding roll up the jetway and collapse your stroller and they will tuck it under...it will be waiting when you arrive, or at each leg of your trip if you change planes.

Not sure of your model, but if you are using Disney transport to the parks, make sure you can manage folding/holding the stroller on the bus along w/baby and diaper bag. Umbrella styles fold up compact and are light so they are easier on the bus.

I've never heard of gate checking! Good to know!

I have folding and unfolding our stroller down to a science, it's got the handy dandy one-hander folding. I did look on amazon (dot) com, and a cheapo Jeep stroller for $29 and shipped for free (to the resort!) looked pretty tempting!

Thank you!

If you are a frequent Disney traveler...and I am guessing from your username, wedding site and anniversary celebration sites, you aim to be, finding the perfect Disney stroller will slowly become an obsession that can make you crazy!!!!

If you are tempted to buy a new stroller, just cut to the chase now and get a Maclaren!!!! I wish I would have known about these earlier!!! They push and fold like a dream, are easy to carry on the bus and hold kids up to 55 pounds, so they will last until your child is 6/7 and be tough enough for any siblings that come along. Otherwise, every darn trip you are going to second guess your stroller.

Once you have the Maclaren, you won't need to do that, and then can focus on finding the perfect parent cup holder for the Maclaren!!!

OHHH I WISH! I would love a Maclaren! I think I'm going to try to find one on craigslist. I'd love a new one, but that might cut a little too much into the Disney budget. (This was a very spur of the moment trip!)

I also don't want to make too big of an investment, since hopefully our next trip, we'll need a double stroller, if you catch my drift!

Does Maclaren make doubles?

I have a Joovy Caboose and rented a disney stroller one night. you would be amazed at the difference. the rental is soooo much easier to push and has tons of storage. When we go back, I will probably rent the whole time.

I too am having Stroller problems. Found a nice Schwinn jogging stroller with front swivel wheel, but it's kind of big and heavy and it's $150 Can.

I can get a Combi Flare for $85 Can. It is small and holds 55lbs. But seems a little too small for my 4yr old niece.

Just don't know what to do. Maybe I should take a trip down to the US and see what is available.

well our first stroller was an Evenflo journey liked it ok noit thrilled, next was a schwinn double jogger w/ swivel wheel - love the ease of pushing it, sunshade/storage and size are not great but it works great for jogging which is what it is made for. We took two umbrela strollers last time to disney which worked out ok since we shipped everything(souvineirs) to the hotel and then home and we only carried the basics for the day in a bag that clipped to the stroller. For DD3 we purchased a graco stroller frame for the carseat -very easy to use huge basket, adjustable handle - it's great for when baby is using the infant carrier carseat. THEN for this trip I bought a new stroller - the City Elite by Baby Jogger - I Love this stroller -pushes wonderfully - with one finger! it is truely a one handed fold, it folds up smaller than the stroller frame for our carseat. I also bought the toddler jump seat & canopy that can attach to this stroller ( I have not rec'd them yet so I can not review them yet but I look forward to it.) The sun shade on this stroller is huge, the handle is adjustable for many different heights, the parent console and storage are unique and easy to use also holds a lot. I am really looking forward to using this stroller in Disney.
