Sept. weather?

Hi everyone. We just moved our wedding to Sept. 19. We will be having our ceremony at 5:00 pm. Since we are using the Whitehall room & patio I would love to have our reception set up outside if it doesn't rain. Does anyone know if it's cooler at that time or would it be unbearable? Thanks for the feedback.

Having lived in Jacksonville , FL - 2 hours north of Orlando for a large chunk of my life, I can say that it more than likely will be hot, humid and muggy -- but it's your wedding and if you choose to go for it, then you will be beautiful and have a fantastic time. It does start to cool up in the afternoons and evenings at that time of year -- typically, although not a guaranteed cool off-- so depending upon the time of your reception then the outdoor reception may be more tolerable. It usually doesn't start to cool up until early to mid October -- but as with all things weather there are no guarantees.

I have to echo what KAA1972 said. I lived in FL until I was 18 and September is still pretty hot. By 5 pm the sun won't be beating down on you, so that will help a little. The bigger issue is humidity. If you're used to living in places with humid summers, it probably won't bother you too much-- July and August are really the sweltering months. If September works best for you, I say go for it. Maybe throw in some cute fan programs

It's hot and humid in September. Luckily, I live in Louisiana so I'm quite used to this. But I feel like it's a good time to go, especially if you are honeymooning there. There are some fun things going on at Disney during that time

I can't say that I've had the experience of living in Florida, but I did get married in Disney last September. Our wedding day was soooo hot! And really our entire trip was hot (and we were there for a few weeks, so most of September). I found it a bit humid (compared to what I usually experience in Florida) but where I'm from it is always humid so we are used to it!

HI! We got married last September 19! You picked a great day Our weather was perfect....we had a 10am ceremony, and it was 78 at 'game time' and 84 when we left reception and very sunny. We did the ceremony outside and it was great. HUMID, but great. Our whole trip was sunny except our last day there when it rained that night. It's a crapshoot with FL weather, but don't let it stop you. Good luck!!

I'll give you a different take on September. My birthday is 9/21 and we've spent several of my bdays at WDW over the years. Every time we do it, we say NEVER AGAIN. Maybe we're hot weather sissies because we're from Michigan, but every time we'd walk outside, sweat would immediately start pouring down our foreheads. My makeup would melt off and my hair would go flat. When we were there for my 40th in 2009, it quite literally felt like walking out into an oven. Not one day was less than 93 degrees. Nighttime offered some relief, but FWIW, I would never plan an outside gathering at WDW in September. YMMV, of course!

P.S. After that trip in '09, we really are NEVER going back in September!

We were married on September 13, 2010, with 5:00 p.m. ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion, following by reception at the Whitehall Patio/Room. It was unbearably hot and humid! In hindsight, I feel a little bit bad that our guests sat in that heat for the pre-reception. Some of them returned to the patio around 9:00 p.m. for dancing and they were soaked in sweat (but they didn't seem to mind).

Some people tolerate heat and humidity better than others, but you may want to keep it in mind if you have elderly guests. We shuttled my grandparents from ceremony to reception in the limo, which helped a little bit.

My biggest worry about having a September wedding was the risk of hurricanes. I've been to WDW in August and nearly had my flight cancelled because of the severe weather. If you and your guests will be flying to Florida, keep this in mind. Good luck!
