hey guys, im leaving for WDW on sept 12-17, i was reading in the unofficial guide to WDW and it was talking about how the off season can be bad cause the park hours change and some of the rides are closed, is sept part of this or is it still a good time????

September is good and bad. Good=kids are back in school. Lower crowds.
Bad=Hurricane season and hot :sunny: days. I have been in September once and I could not believe the crowds or lack of them. I remember walking on to so many rides. This was a few years ago. I also remember how very very hot it was.

Even if a few rides are down because of the off-season, it sure is nice that you don't have to wait as long in line. You can actually get more done in a day despite the shorter hours.

We've been in Sept twice and the crowds were very low.The weather was great when we were there [but it's the luck of the draw].
Hope you have a great trip :sunny:

We are going in September 8-15 as well. This will be our 4th time down there in Septebmber. Sure the weather is hot and humid, but there are ways of getting out of the heat and the crowds are pretty limited. Go and enjoy yourself. No worries. :thumbsup2

I think the only time I remember them adjusting hours or closing things was really more Jan/Feb. They even closed Blizzard Beach entirely for renovations. I don't think you'll have any trouble in Sept. Even if the hours are a little earlier in park closings, you'll be able to cover much more ground without the crowds there, so it will work out fine for you. Have fun!! Jane

The car stunt show (sorry don't know the name) at MGM will close on the 15th of sept. So you may want to hit that one on the first few days so you don't miss it.
This will be our third sept trip "the luck of the draw" is true for the weather. In the 21 days I have been so far in sept we had hard rain only twice and it only lasted a couple hours. IMO it's not that hot, but to some it may be.

It's been over 100 here for the last 10 days :sunny:

How long will the stunt show be closed? Bummer, I didn't get it worked in last trip and wanted to see it this time around. Oh well.

I love Sept. low crowds and most things are walk ons. I think everything we wanted to do last year was opened.

As for park hours, they may be shorted in duration, but we found we got on everything we wanted quickly, resulting in leaving the parks at a decent hour.

thanks for the information guys, i cant wait and i hope i dont get to much rain lol.

If you look at Disney's official site under each park is a link to a calander for what will be closed each month for maintenance. I do know the Hall of Presidents will be closed around that time but nothing else is scheduled in the MK that I know of (not sure about the other parks).

All Ears Net also has a list of the rehabs/closures by month: http://allearsnet.com/tp/rehabs.htm.

Don't worry about the reduced hours. I have been to the parks before with reduced hours and all it means is that you actually get more done in less time. Keep in mind that if the park is open to midnight, that means that the crowds are so large that you spend the entire day in line. :)

We have tried Jan., early March, May, June, July, Sept, and late Nov. Sept is by far our favorite time to go and I think will be our yearly trip from now on. Make sure you check on rehabs/closures before you go so you are prepared. We leave 9/24 and I can't wait

You will have plenty to do, have a great vacation.
