This is a report of a trip that has been planned for a year. My family me, DW, DD(13) and our friends Mom, Dad, DD (13) DS (10),
DS (7) and grandma. We had not vacationed with another family for quite a while and never for 7 days, however we were all a good compatible group, and hopes were high for a good time.
We had planned to meet at 4 am for our drive through GA to FL, howver DW and I had so much to do at the last minute that we ended up leaving an hour and a half later. Despite getting separated on I- 75 on the way down, which is pretty hard to do seeing as it's a straight shot from GA to FL, we all arrived safely if not a little tired.
It is usually not a good sign at check in when the CM checking you in calls in her supervisor while trying to check on your room, then they both leave the counter and go behind closed doors for about 15 minutes leaving you and your credit card, with a computer terminal that just flashes red and yellow any time they input your name and credit card number. Fearing the worse they returned with yet another supervisor who explained that they could not honor our room request (two queens, non-smoking,waterview, full balcony) at the Beach Club, and paid in full at least two months in advance. To my surprise however, they had already found us a nice room on the 4th floor at the Yacht Club, which turned out to be the best accomidations we've had since we have been going to the world. Got to love that Disney magic.
Having deviated from our planned first stop at Blizzard Beach which was closed, everyone headed to MK for a round of rides, parades, fireworks and fun. Everything was fine until it was time to catch the bus back to the resort. The line to the ASR was stretched as far as the eye could see, it wasn't until some investigation that we found we were in the wrong line for the bus to the Yacht Club which was considerably shorter. We really felt sorry for a lot of the folks still waiting, but I must say I have never seen a group of happier people despite the wait.
Pt. two Let' s hit the Beach
