Based on crowds, weather, and all the things I haven’t considered… would you book your WDW trip for the last week of Sept or first week of Oct?

I would book the last week of September. There isn’t that much difference in weather between those weeks but crowd levels are different.

I went to AK and Magic Kingdom the last week of September last year. I had my own ride vehicle on Dinosaur and waited less than 5 minutes for Space Mountain the middle of the day. The next week I just went to Hollywood Studios and Epcot. It was more crowded but that might also have been because the 50th anniversary just began.

Isn't Epcot's 40th anniversary the first week of October this year?
You're quite right! I'd forgotten about that! That has potential to pop up attendance in late September and after. I'm not sure if official 'celebration' dates have been announced or how much they will be doing considering the 50th will still be in full swing then too.

Agree. They are being awfully quiet about it. Not sure why.

Is there any other ideal week you might pick. I am sorry for so many questions. This will be our first trip and I really want it to be good for the kids. Thank you again for all of your amazing help.

Depending on how old your kids are, the week right after Labour Day (and the one following that too) tend to be a little quieter as everyone is back in school by then. Until my daughter hit Grade 6, the second week of September was always our choice. Now that she's older we go the end of August, just before Labour Day as the crowds are down a bit but she doesn't have to miss school.

One heads up for August though (and often September too) is that it's extremely hot and humid and can have a fair amount of rain too, but the rain doesn't usually stick around for long.

Mid-October weather has never disappointed us. When we vacationed with kids we'd go in late September for the inexpensive rates over the holidays so they would only miss a few days of school but the weather is HOT and it's usually cloudy all the time (which you would think would help the hot but it is just muggier).

We have been in September and October. The weather on September still can be hot. October is much better, Just a reminder if you can go the last week in October and the first week in November you get Halloween plus some Christmas decorations.
