Sept / Oct 2011

I called American Girl this morning and the lady on the phone was sooooooo nice. Just like when we called WDW to change from POR to WL, the guy was so lovely it was almost ridiculous!

I know that they are both working in call centres, but in places like American Girl and WDW I am expecting great customer service because how could you not be thrilled to be working in such amazing places? I would sleep with a smile if I worked there!! :):):):)

hey
dont know anything about american girl, but wanted to see my ticker...

raining, cold and blah today...roll on florida heat

DD16 doesnt want to do American Girl - (I asked..:)) I have a feeling shopping in SOHO is going to cost me more.......

Is anyone watching the path of Hurricane Irene? She is due to hit the coast friday / saturday -

Is it wrong, that all I am wondering is if that is a good thing for us, is three / four weeks too soon for another to develop? :confused3 or not?

Although my thoughts are with anyone that may be in her path - I hope she is not too ferocious.

Gosh Battymum, no it hasnt occured to me to watch out for the weather yet. But hurricane or not, WE ARE GOING!!

There was a discussion on cruise critic about it, a lot of ships are rerouting this week- it just got me thinking -

I know there is nothing we can do - its all part of the adventure!!!

I talked to a man about hurricanes a couple of years ago while I was at WDW, he was (still could be?) a CM and a local resident of some 30 years.

I was interested because I'd been offered "hurricance insurance" a couple of times and had been told when I was visiting in Sept/Oct is smack in the middle of peak hurricane season.

He told me in his experience, hurricances weren't usually a huge issue for WDW, there aren't that many that make it to Oralndo and even if they hit, because Orlando is so far inland, they've usually lost a lot of their steam and are just like a thunderstorm that hits, and then goes. They're not a big deal. And anyone who has been to WDW can testify there's usually an afternoon thunderstorm or two every week.

Some rides may close for a short time until the storm passes but WDW has never been devastated by cyclonic weather.

Still, I hope those on the coast and the cruises aren't too put out.

Either way there'll be plenty of warning, they don't come out of thin air. Well, they do come out of thin air! But I mean they're not completely unpredictable like earthquakes.

Something else off topic -

We organised a travel card for my daughter, she has a part time job, and her own money.

You have to set up a 4 digit access code as well as a PIN - they cant be the same. The PIN is the same as her other bank account (I think)

Well guess what, she has forgotten the access code - I thought we wrote it down somewhere, but cant find it - must be somewhere pretty secure, and cryptic.

She has about $1000 in there - what can we do?

Grrrr

We had a similar situation with our ANZ ones a few years back - from memory they reset the PIN in branch with ID. At the very least issue with another card and transfer the balance.

ANZ - I have been on the phone - they will give it out, if she answers the security questions, or go into a branch with photo id.

Had a Lovely weekend (just gone) with Nephew & Niece :grouphug:
Then my brother rings and tells me "Nephew has Glandular Fever"

With 13 more sleeps, I am keeping a careful watch on DD's temperatures:scared1::scared1:

I don't think we will go out anymore or let anyone visit:rotfl2:

We are on a cruise this Saturday - I'm nervous they'll have an outbreak of swine flu!! :rotfl:

Ugh......we all need to be germ-free for the next couple of months, don't we?!

I work with the public and especially kids everyday and I have never washed my hands so much!

I had a boy throw up 2 feet away from me just yesterday - I almost drowned myself in Pine-O-Clean and Glen20! We've come too far to let our guards down now!! ;)

Glad you got it all sorted Battymum, luckily you thought of it now and not the day before you were leaving!!!

I'm actually glad the kids are on school holidays for a week before we leave, it means I can keep them quarantined in the house :thumbsup2.
I have a shocking cold right now but keep reminding myself, better now then in 5 weeks! Mind you we are moving house tomorrow so I just want someone to shoot me now please :lmao:
Ugh coffee is finished, back to packing...

Totally get it, at least I'm not packing to move house though!

I'm off work today with a cold, virus, nausea, and everything else combined. Not fun. DD has been off school all week. I'm expecting (hoping with fingers crossed) she will go back tomorrow. I keep thinking it's now, not in a month's time.

Hope everyone's feeling fine!

Nothing much to say, just wanted to see my ticker now we're in the home stretch!

Anyone else at POFQ between Sept 21 and Oct 4?

Gosh, DH has come home today full of cold. We still have a few weeks to go but it's a reminder of exactly what we don't want to happen just before we go. :scared1:

Oz-Kateer, we will be your neighbour for a few days as we will be at POR 29 Sep- 8 Oct. I think you and Kylie will be at POFQ for a couple of days at the same time though.

That's it - we arrive late on 23 Sept, check out on 1 October. ETA: At POFQ! I almost forgot that part!
