Is this a good time to go to Disney? We will be there for the first week of Oct. How will temps and the crowds be ? ( we have free dinning! ) and we're going to upgrade
Thanks!

Oh great time! Not too hot not to cold! Disney is pretty chillaxed then and it shouldnt be too crowded.

Great time to go!! You so need to do the Not So Scary Halloween Party...and dress up! Our kids love it. DH and I love it almost as much as they do. :thumbsup2 Also make sure that you take some cheap ponchos that you can throw away...just incase it rains. Some years we would use them and then some years we ended up bringing them home.

We were there this same week last year (2010) and it was wicked hot! So hot we stayed at the hotel a lot more than we normally do. Hot, hot, hot!

Well that is my birthday, so celebrate for me since I don't know when I'm going back to WDW!

We're going for the Halloween Family Fun Run and staying for a long weekend, checking in Sept. 29th! I can't wait until they open up the booking for the Halloween party.

I've gone several times during the end of September/October timeframe.

Although other posters have said it's not hot at that time, please be aware that it can be very hot, in my experience. In 2009, I was there the second week of October and we had record-breaking heat several days in a row (90+ degrees and high humidity). It's not always like that, but it can be. (Sorry, don't mean to scare you!)

Plus, that time of year it can be pretty rainy, because it's hurricane season. I was at WDW during Hurricane Wilma in 2005; it was a low-level hurricane, so they only closed the parks for about six hours one day, and we actually had nice weather after that -- but be aware that it can rain at least a little every day.

But the trade-offs are lower crowds, the Food and Wine Festival, and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party. It can be a nice time to go, but be aware that the weather can be pretty brutal.

Agreed about the hot weather. We've been there in November and it was over 80.

I didn't think about the heat, but it can get warm. Last time we went in Sept. we left 100 degree heat, so when we got to Florida it was like a cold front. The trade off of no crowds and paying less is well worth the heat and humidity...drink lots of water! :thumbsup2

we went sept 30th to october 7th in 2009. it was wonderful! i've never seen the crowds so low...we've usually been there in peak times apparently. the temps were woderful- we actually hit a heat wave the last day and it was brutal. the schools are back in then and most of the kids that were there were preschool aged. the decorations for halloween were pretty amazing to see too!

I'll be there 9/24-10/1 and have done lots of research before booking this time. Expect it to be fairly low crowds but still hot and humid with the chance of storms, since it's still hurricane season. I'd get some good ponchos with the expectation of rain. I've been in rain storms with cheap ponchos and it makes it worse. You'll also be able to catch the Food & Wine Fest and MNSSHP which are added bonuses for going at that time!

We went the first week of september last year, and it was hot, but I'd go again in a heartbeat, the parks were practically empty! That in itself was totally worth the heat. Oh and the hotels were mega discounted!

That's 3 9/29 birthday peeps! Cool!
Maybe someday I will get there for my birthday!

We're going from 9/28-10/4! Sept 29th will be our 9th wedding anniversary so we'll be celebrating with you. We have been to disney at the end of Oct and the first week of December. Both times Disney had a cold front (so cold that we couldn't use the pool both weeks) so if our luck keeps running the way it is, then hopefully it won't be so hot!:thumbsup2

We'll be there!! Our 10th anniversary! We went for our 6th anniversary and it was the best time we had! Granted we had no kids along and our annual trip is taken during Marathon Weekend in January when it's COLD.

Buy ponchos at the dollar store before you go to deal with the afternoon rain showers that come and go usually just as quickly.

MNSSHP! Best time ever! Dress up! DH and I had so much fun!

This will be our 6th straight year there in the Sept. time frame. We love it because we take 2 weeks and go into the first week of October to catch the Epcot F&W festival. During Sept, the MNSSHP is great. We like this time because of the free dining, low crowds and great weather. it is the best deal of the year!:surfweb:
