Sept. 26, 2009 Magic

My randomness for the night... LOL... :goodvibes Can I have a quick run down on who everyone is? First names... where are you from? I feel so lost... like I switched highschools in the 11th grade and don't know a soul. :confused3 From what I see so far it looks like we have a fun group!

Welcome Bobbie... I am Rebecca, DH is Earl we have 5 kids..but only 4 still live at home and they are all going with us. Jennah just turned 13 on Satuday, Macy is 10, and my identical twin boys are 8. We are from Northern Ca.. Stockton..this will be DH and I's 9th cruise, 3rd on DCL, our grils's 4th and our boys 2nd. You will not be able to miss us. I am a short/fat/white woman :rotfl: in an interracial marriage...DH is a very large/loving black man and my kiddos are are really pretty brown skined babies. :grouphug:

Grin, you sure have some selfhumor, Rebecca. :)

Ana; whoohoo to you indeed for finishing the FE-gift part! I finished the sorting out a long time ago, but still need to kick myself in the behind to make the actual labels.

Bobbie; as said our FB is a great tool in recognizing others on here. :thumbsup2

When is everyone getting to the port???? Is boarding at 12pm? I can't remember from our previous two cruises.

We'll be coming from the Beach Club and I'm thinking we'll leave around 915-930. I want my sister and her family to get the full experience of the terminal and look around before boarding starts. And we want to make the mad dash to Rockin-bar-d to hopefully get Palo brunch and maybe tea for the girls.

Bad Fat Cat...Bad kitty.. Have you learned nothing with your main board fiasco... :rotfl::rotfl:

As a lot of you know I do not drink any alcohol at all. I grew up with ALCOHOLIC/EXTREMELY ABUSSIVE parents and there is WAY to much negative thoughts with drinking....BUT I have no problem at all with others who enjoy a beer/wine/shots etc as long as I am not around them when they are D-R-U-N-K. And not the "everything is funny":rotfl::rotfl2: buzz, but the crawl home on your belly, and sleep in the front yard drunk. :headache:pirate::scared:

What I DO have a problem with is the "stick up their booty,,,,noses in the air,,,,,holier then thou attitude" people. Weather it be their thoughts on "kitty's" who like to :drinking1 celebrate or how they think my special needs twins should act..even though they have ZERO idea that my boys have any needs..I mean honestly..how in the freak is my boys sitting quietly at the dinner table with their gameboys on WITH earphones in their ears not a sound coming out gonna ruin YOUR dinner...Shoot If they didn't have them then TRUST ME your dinner would be ruined. Or that in the year of our Lord 2009 a black man who is married to a white women isn't her PIMP..[well, maybe in our own bedroom :rotfl::laughing::lmao: but that's another story:blush:] or a drug dealer, or not in prison. When I do tell him that he owns his on IT business I usually have to explain that NO IT does not mean Iced Tea, they think I am lying. I told DH and DBIL about all the alcohol police people, and they both just sorta  rolled their eyes  and said "Wow I know times are tough, but goodness DCL will allow anyone on their ships now days".

Sorry, I didn't mean for this to sound like a lecture. I just am very pasionate about closed minded folks. Becca will get off her soap box now. :upsidedow

Rebecca,

I'm so relieved that you let your boys bring in gameboys, etc to dinner. My son is 8 yrs old and also has special needs & he too brings in stuff to occupy his time/brain during dinner. He isn't bothering anyone else but it seems to annoy other diners. Thanks for bringing up that point so others don't quickly judge without personal knowledge of the child in question. Like your's, no one would know that Hayden was special needs by looking at him.

It just pirate:chaps my hide. Something I haven't told any of you...our twins are actually adopted. They were given to us at 7 weeks old as temporary foster placements. They were tiny little :sad1: drug babies. Born addicted to meth, cocaine and alcohol. Their birth Mother also had SEVER mental illnesses's, which sadly the boys have inherited. And due to the drug abuse the boys have cognitive learning delays as well. They are in 3rd grade, but are only at a high K level. Our one twin has bi-polar, anxiety disorder, SEVER ADHD, and extremely poor impulse control. Our other twin didn't get as much of the drug's and only has the cognitive delays, some mild OCD, anxiety disorder and the ADHD as well. We were  blessed to have been allowed to adopt them when they were 2 1/2 years old.

We have worked ::yes:: VERY hard with them... in fact you can tell by my signature line that I now :teacher: home school all my kids. The boys are the major reason for that. We tired private Christian school for K and 1st, but they couldn't keep up so I had no choice but to pull them out. Public school can't really help them, except to pull them out for special ed classes... i.e. math, English etc...but keep them in a regular class all the rest of the time..but the teachers can't handle there ADHD..it is :scared1: REALLY bad.

So we try to teach the boys acceptable behavior in every day situations, like going out to a :cake: restaurant other then fast food or a buffet. And after a few :furious: "WE WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN", we finally found that if we bring more then colors and books..i.e. the game boys and IPODS then they can maintain for up to an hour:worship:. Now if truth be told I am sooooooo STRESSING about the 9 hour plane ride to Florida...there is only so many games, songs etc that they can handle. We REALLY don't want to be "that" family that everyone :chat: talks about when they leave the plane. But I just have to go into it with a :hippie: relaxed attitude and stay calm and make it work. So when the parents of perfect kids tell me just how  awful they think a game boy at the dinner table is..I just have to think they are closed minded, and have no idea aobut our situation and secretly wish I could just put my boys with them for one 2 hour dinner WITHOUT any calming, attention keeping devices and just sit back and :rotfl2::rotfl: laugh my booty off.

:sad2: I don't want it to sound as if my boys are out of :furious: control monsters. They are on various RXs to try to get some of the conditions under control. My boys are very, very :lovestruc loving, :flower3: caring, sweet and  kind hearted kids. Are there days that we all end up :sad1:crying...Yes, are there days that we all end up :crazy2:frustrated and angry....Yes, but as long as the good days out pass the REALLY bad ones then I know we are doing something right. :woohoo:

No explanation needed. You sound like a godsend to me. I can't imagine everything you've been through with your boys. They are so lucky to have you.

Rebecca,

Thanks for sharing all that information about your boys. Hayden is the sweetest little boy but can be a major handful without any notice. His also has ADHD, social & learning delays and impulse control. He is starting 2nd grade and is coming along pretty well with the help of therapy and special ed. We chose to start him a year later to help make up for some of the delays and adjusting to medication. I"m really proud of his accomplishments but it's a long road. Just know, you're not alone.

Maybe we can get the boys together at the kids club?? There seems to be alot of 8 yr olds cruising with us.

Thank you for being so kind. I was thinking the same thing about the boys. And I noticed that your girls are the exact same ages as my grils..Well, actually Jennah turned 13 last Saturday. :woohoo: But Macy is 10 1/2. Do your girls know about the kids only Sept 26th thread? It isnt very busy, but a lot of the kids already have gotten to know each other. :thumbsup2 Well, i'm off to look for more FE insperation. :upsidedow

I noticed that too. Megan will be 13 mid October and Emily will be 11 in August. We also have a friend's daughter traveling with us; her name is Addison and she is 12 1/2. I have heard of it but haven't done anything about it with the kids. Are your girls on it??

All my FE stuff is bought, I need to sort and put into bags. Yeah!!!

Facebook is a good start ..... Disney Cruise Line Sept. 26, 2009 .....just type that in the search and it should come up

Or you can click the link in my signature line and see everyones DIS name, real names, ages of kids, state they live in, etc....

Hey Lyndi!! I'm hoping I can think of something creative but useful for the FE. It also needs to be small b/c we are already going to have a ton of luggage since we are staying at WDW before the cruise.

I live in the 'burbs of Memphis, so maybe something Elvis related? Hmmm....

Beale Street!!! :rotfl:

We are arriving the day before but will be back at the airport bright and early to catch the first shuttle to the cruise terminal....I think it leaves around 9 or 9:30am....so we should be there by 10 or 10:30am...I hope!!! :woohoo:

Yes, they both are there. I thought I had all my FE gifts bought, but then I keep thinking of something that I "just have" to add.

:lmao::rotfl: Your drinking thread just got shut down... :rotfl2::rotfl2: Said that to many of us were making fun of others with diffrent views. :3dglasses

Those uptight, stick up the ___, holier than thou, cry babies had to go and shut down the thread just when it was getting fun.

Fatcat will have to start his cigar thread now. ;)

Okay this post as dis-evolved to the point it is picking on people with differing views. I am closing this one. "

If you really want to be truthful none of us picked on anyone. Other poster said basically that we were the reason for teenage drinking and the erosion of our culture; we simply said that we would like to have good clean fun! :)

I actually try to attract as much attention to myself to detract people from viewing my parenting skills

Becca and Kim: thanks for sharing. You guys are amazing as my aunt has twin special needs children and I see her struggle. I must be a horrible parent. My son has not been diagnosed with any type of special need and I STILL let him bring his DS/gameboy to the table. I could care less what anyone thinks or does. If a peaceful dinner outing with a DS/gameboy will restore my sanity after a long week, then those people who scoff can kiss my, well, you know. I think I wrote DS on the "Don't forget to bring it" list like 3 times so I definitely don't forget it! :rotfl:

Off to find lodging in Palm Coast...our pre-cruise destination. Wish my MIL would sponsor a night in Disney. I haven't been there in nearly 9 years and never with my kids.
