SEPT 2009 code watch

Just booked our September 2009 trip! Staying 9/23-9/29 at Coronado Springs. 6 Day Park Hopper and Dining Plan. Praying for a code because we are paying for my parents this time! Our total with insurance and a water view room for 6 nights came to $2,699.09 (two adults one 5 y/o). Anything off the rack rate is welcome!

I am in the same boat with paying for my parents. Last sept we paid for everything, this time I don't think that we can pull that off, I am thinking that we will pay 1/2 of the room. Rack rate is soooo painful, we need some codes!!

Sorta learning as I go here...last year we decided to go to WDW for the first time and basically walked into AAA and booked our April trip about 5 months out.

Then, I found the Dis...and the rest is history.

Ok...so I am trying to understand the best way to plan for the booking of our September 2009 trip. The reason for the timing is to take advantage of Free Dining, assuming that happens.

Our cast is 3 kids from 4-8, my DW and I, plus my Mom. We are thinking of a Family Suite at ASMo (but open to suggestions)

So, if I book something now (through AAA or otherwise) and a code comes out (is 40% off the room rate?) then I can change the reservation and have the code applied?

Then, if and when Free Dining comes out, I can try and book under that (limited rooms I believe) and then cancel my other reservation?

Any lessons on how to nove ahead when we are 13 months out?

Thanks!

I am not an expert ,but from what I have read you can change, even with AAA if something better comes along. However keep in mind that there are a limited # of rooms with discount codes/free dining each year so you might not be able to apply new codes to your exact reservation. For example we had poly mk view last year but when FD came out it was only for GV rooms. Also keep in mind that you can only have 1 discount code %40 or FD not both. I would also double check when you talk to AAA about changing/adding discounts as they come up because I am not %100 sure about that, I am waiting to talk to aaa myself. As for the family suite I have no idea, but I am sure you can get feedback/photos on the resorts page. Good luck!:goodvibes

Check out the cost of 2 rooms at Pop vs the suite I've been told 2 rooms is cheape! I also am planning Sept. for free dining . Next just book the basic park ticket maybe they'll be a code to upgrade and if you really want the hopper option you can add it later.Check out fridge swaps at the values they are free and save renting one. Also read read read THE DIS .Youwill continue to learn more great tips !!

Our September 2008 trip just got changed to September 2009. I'm a little bummed, but now I get to look forward to a whole 13 months of planning. This could be good or bad. Does anyone think that the addition of the quick service dining plan will affect what they offer for the free dining package next year (if offered)?

I think that it will, but I am not sure in what way. I have herd 2 theorys that sound possible. First is that cs plan will be fd or that the dining plan will be tiered to match the resort catagory. I guess we will have to wait and see.:confused3

I've never been fortunate enough to get a code and I have a question. We are in fact going Sept 2009, about when during the year would codes become available (to those lucky chosen ones) to use toward a September 2009 stay? I've been told to check back with a CM every now and then to see if there is a code associated with my household, but isn't it a little early to do that now? :confused3 Thanks!

I have been to Disney in the past, however, I have always paid Rack Rate (ever since I joined DIS I am quickly learning the error of my ways)

What exactly is a code and how does one get a code?

I am planning Sept 28 to Oct 8 2009, 2 adults and two children (3 year old and 2 year old), either Grand Floridian or Wilderness Lodge.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.:disrocks: :thanks: :tinker: :tigger: :smickey:

Since that is a slow season for Disney (kids in school and hurricane season) chances are good that you will get a code. It will be published on the disboards, (and surely to this thread!). Your dates are kind of on the late side (about a week) for free dining (from what has been historically the dates for free dining), but since you want to stay in a deluxe resort, the money you would save on a room or package discount, could and probably would be even better than free dining (from what I have read here). Plus, with your dates, free dining will be ending, so you'll have even less crowds!! :thumbsup2 (with the exception of a little more at Epcot for Food & Wine Festival).

You will have to compare costs of "all" the discounts and what works best for you. You may see a "room only" code, a "package" code, free dining, and the AAA discount.

Free dining has historically been announced in mid-April. We've probably got a while before we start seeing discounts for Sept 09.

hope that helps!

If memory serves me I got our code in jan/feb. It was a large postcard that looked like it was from my cable company. I am sure that it will be posted here when the time comes. I think we have a little wait. :surfweb:

We are staying the 8th and 9th at POP and the 10th - 16th at the WL

so we are books for Sept 19-23 this year at the AAA rate.......if anyone has any offers/codes that can be shared they would be welcome! :worship:

We were there last year (2007) 9/22 to 9/30 (8 great nights!) We stayed at POFQ - no kids trip (left the teens home!), it was my DH, me, and my in-laws (they live in Florida, and joined us - and, they both celebrated their birthdays while we were there). We enjoyed Free Dining and the Halloween Party, and treated my DH and FIL to the bass nitro fishing excursion - it was the only way I could get him to let me do this trip ;)

It was hot and humid, so we just made sure we didn't overdo it. It was good having the dining plan, because it forced us to go and sit and relax in the air conditioning quite a bit. We also left the park each day to shower and rest before our dinners. Don't forget love bug season! The love bugs arrived a couple of days before we left. Not bad at all in the parks, but the pool area had a lot of them.

Here are the love bugs!

What the heck is a Love Bug?! They don't look vey lovely. Also, who did you use for your fishing excursion? My hubby is a hugh fisherman and would like to do this as well!

Love bugs are a seasonal occurance in Fla in Aug-sept-oct depending on the year. They don't bite, but they do mate, you will see 2 together! They are attracted to white. I have heard stories of them but I can say my last trip 9/21-9/27 2007 I did not see any. I don't think that you need to worry about them too much. As far as the fishing there are a few places. My dh went from the Poly and did 7 seas lagoon and bay lake. He had a good time. You can also go from epcot area as well. I am not sure where Mary-Oh "s dh left from. Check out the wdw site or the padcast page here on the dis recently did a review of it.
As far as codes go. I pulled out my resie from 2007 and I made it Jan 27, so the postcard with the code must have come during the end of Jan. Not sure what happened last year.

Thank you. Is the fishing through Disney or is it an off-site excursion? We looked at a couple off site, he wants to be on the Kissemmee (sp).:woohoo:
