We just got back from WDW and had a blast pin trading! We purchased traders online for around $2 per pin and they were great. There were lots of pins worth trading for and the CMs with lanyards were very friendly. Here are some of the pins we found:
Hidden Mickey monorails: we managed to find them all!
Hidden Mickey topiaries: My DH took up the hunt and found them all!
Hidden Mickey Cinderella fairies: Found them all!
Hidden Mickey transportation pins: Found them all!
Hidden Mickey scuba pins: found them all!
Hidden Mickey inner tube pins: found all but Daisy
Hidden Mickey pirates: found all in the 3 pin set plus some of the others
Hidden Mickey Caldrons: Found them all!
Hidden Mickey Mickey and Minne heart shaped pins: found all 3!

I also completed some sets I had started before (HM dollar bills, doubloons, formals and princesses)!

In addition to the HMs, there were many of the tinker bell pixie dust pins, and I also traded for a 2005 passholder pin, and a 50 Disneyland spinner pin.

I had the least success at the MK, most of the CM lanyards were filled with the cutie pins, but all of the other parks had better pins on CM lanyards. We also found some good pins on the trading board at Epcot pin traders.

Don't forget to try the new mystery pin trading machines, they are now at MK tomorrowland video arcade, Mouse Gear in Epcot and Pin traders in DTD. You always get a pin ($5) no matter how well you do on the game. The duplicates also made for great traders and there were people around the machines hoping to trade for the pins they were looking for!

The only pin trading disappointment we had was at the MK, where they were sold out of the $1 MK logo pin you could purchase if you spent $30 on pins. In general, the selection there for purchase was not as good as Epcot, or DTD. When at Epcot we were also able to purchase some of the Where Dreams HapPin pins that were sold at the pin celebration on 9/7-8.

Overall an awesome time! Let me know if you have any questions!

Happy pin trading!

Thanks for the tips! We leave tomorrow morning for 15 days at WDW. Searching mostly for HM pins -- hoping our quest is as fruitful as yours was.

Is there a place you can see how many pins are in a series. When i was at a the event i saw people with print outs.

We just got back from WDW as well and had almost as good luck as you did in completing some sets. We ran out of traders at the parks and managed to find a local guy in Orlando on Crraigslist that had some for sale ($1.80 a pin!!!) Otherwise we finished up the pirate cuties, the pirates set, little baby princess sets, and managed to find a Flower the skunk from Bambi series. Also located a few Star Wars pins. Not many more sets but a ton of neat pins that we didn't have before. :woohoo:

LOL! There will be lots for you! I was also told by CMs that the new set will be released on October 1, so you will have many to choose from!

New, as in new? or as in more of the same? which also works for me since I still need lots of the old ones, just curious.

Sounds like you did some good trading. We decided to get DS #1 started on pin trading on our trip in September. He had a blast! He got all the monorails except for the silver one. Not bad for a 4 year old! :lmao: He's hoping to find the silver and pink ones at Disneyland in May. Do you think he has a chance? DS had so much fun that I am going to start trading myself on our next trip.

What a great job! I did get a silver monorail when I was at WDW, so you should be able to find it at DLR. The pink one is just being released, so it should be even easier. I was surprised that even my DH got into the act, he started trading for pins that had airplanes with Disney characters in them. They were not hidden mickeys, but he managed to find 7 different pins!

DS started trading pins at the end of our trip so his little brother could have some more pins and when the CM heard that, I heard her say under her breath "I don't have any Pixies!". I know she was talking about the Tink pins.

Thanks for all the information - we are taking our grandson in early Nov, and this will be his first pin trading experience! As for us...we have been at it since 2000. We're not great traders, more collectors.
