Aaarr me harties, we're on our own again. My MIL left yesterday. We're going to be flying out to Calif. this Mon. so at least the house is clean and I don't have to clean before we leave. My Grandma was pretty ill last week and we thought this was the end for her. Well, she's gotten better since we bought the plane tix and paid the car rental. We're going anyway b/c it would cost more to not go. UGH! I will be busy packing and getting ourselves ready to travel as well as taking care of DH. I hope to sneak in a trip to Downtown Disney...we'll see.

I have a dilemma yall. My DH's aunt passed away Thursday night. He didn't know her very well at all. I hadnever met her except for once whne she was in the hospital about 3 years ago. Of course his G-ma is upset and his Dad. The family visitation is tonight and the funeral tommorrow. Remember, we have 4 kids ages 9,8,5 and 1. I do NOT want to take them to these things, and especially fight the little one to be still and not cause any disruptions. WOuld it be terribly rude of me to only send my DH?

Not knowing exactly their plans. If the visitation is first, you could go (and take kids) to the visitation, then not stay for the funeral. I've had to do that before when one of my clients died a couple of years ago, it worked out well and I didn't have to fight my kiddos to be still and quiet. If one bleeds right into the other then I would opt to stay home. If someone asks, DH can explain the lack of babysitter etc.

Oh yeah thought I would share my day yesterday..... I was walking outside at work to go to my car... I stepped on the top step (metal stairway) and fell!!!! It was SOOO slick I had to essentially crawl the rest of the way down (I fell/slid half way down). I now have a LOVELY bruise the size of an apple on my butt and my back and wrist have been sore since it happened! It was awful and scary, but I'll be alright, going to make an appointment with my chiro for next week!

I am leaning towards NOT going. I did not know her. DH and I have been married for 12 years, and I had only meet her one time in the hospital, she wasn't even coherent. I do not think she had much to do with my FIL or her MOM (my DHs G-ma).

Dzneprincess, I know you will make the right decision. Even with family politics your family (most of them anyway) will understand why you and the little ones did not make an appearance.

OH THANK YOU TAG FAIRY! I got tagged! It's too cute! Noodles for poodles! But here's the cute part. I have been calling our new cat poodle because his hair is so long that when he drinks water his chest hair looks all kinky like a poodle! THIS IS SOOOOO COOOL!!! I can't believe this has me so excited!!!!!

Amanda sorry to hear about DH's aunt. I would have to say keep the kids at home. I am sure under the circumstances that DH's family would understand.

mom2sean_n_alex sorry to hear about your tumble. We all seem to be accident prone these past few weeks. Or is that just me!

taeja happy to hear that your grandmother is getting better. At least you can go and spend some time with her. And a trip to downtown disney wouldn't be unheard of!

My MIL saw her Dr. yesterday and she has a viral infection and a sinus infection! I feel bad when she gets sick and has to leave.

I, too, had been wondering how the "tag fairy" works. How do they know just what to say in the "tag"? Well, maybe someday the tag fairy will visit us common folk, TaeJa!

Dzne , sorry to hear about DH aunt. It doesn't make you evil, just human. Personally, I probably would've played the "no babysitter" card.

TaeJa: Sorry to hear about your Grandma, but glad that you'll be able to spend some time with her. I feel for your MIL. I've got ANOTHER sinus infection, too. Yes, it was just last month that I had one!! Last year I had back to back to back to back to back sinus infections in Feb & March. Looks like this year is a repeat. I had an MRI a couple of weeks ago because my dr wanted to see why I wasn't responding to my thyroid meds like I should be. Well, there is nothing "unusual" going on with my thyroid, but I did find out I have a deviated septum. Guess that's one of the reasons I'm prone to sinus infections too. Anyone else here have a thyroid problem?

Well, gonna take some sinus meds now & hope I can get my hands on some antibiotics tomorrow!! Gonna try to get some rest.

Oh, before I forget...............does anyone own (or know someone who owns) a Boston Terrier? We are thinking about getting one for Krystina. We are supposed to go look at one tomorrow morning. They only have a male left, but I really want a female. We'll see.
