I am scheduled to leave for WDW on Sat. Sept. 18th. We are staying at the Sheraton Vistana Villages.

I am so worried about Hurricane Ivan. I have a friend who lives in Orlando and they are saying to still plan on coming. I know that Ivan is suppose to do whatever, whenever in the US by Tuesaday and we are not leaving for another 4 days after that.

Any advice. Should I just pray for the people in its path wherever that might be and plan on going or what?

It's too early to know what Ivan's going to do.

Go.

Disney is 2 for 2 in getting the parks up and running that day after. The state will desperately need your tourist dollars.

I agree w/ Dan. It's too early to start thinking of cancelling for 9/18. We are leaving at the end of the month. Even if another hurricane pops up-- I intend to go. If we can't get there due to cancelled flights I only intend to reschedule by the least amount of days as possible.

I would just keep an eye on things. Lets all hope, especially for the Florida residents, that Ivan turns, and things settle down in FL weather wise.

We leave on the 19th and are still planning on going.

I know that Ivan is bad but I don't think it's going to end up in Florida. First of all, the weather predictors are not falling over themselves nearly as much as they were with Frances which makes me believe that what we are hearing is more new media hype to try to create another "panic" about a third hurricane.

Also the reports I have seen are now saying that Ivan "may head toward Florida." I looked at some of the projected path information and while all of the projected paths for Frances headed straight into Florida, the path for Ivan is all over the place - at this point, the majority don't even head toward Florida at all.

If it does end up in Florida I'm sure WDW will have the same cancellation policy it did with the other two hurricanes. So at this point, all we can do is wait and see what happens. We have our fingers crossed that we will still be okay!

I just postponed Sept. 12 departure to leave on the 18th also. Hopefully Ivan will be gone by then (really hope it's not an issue at all for Florida). Disney is so good about getting the parks back up and going I wouldn't worry too much. Lets just pray for whomever Ivan decides to hit.

We're leaving then too. Full steam ahead!!

We're staying on site, so I'm not worried. We don't have a rental car, so I don't need to worry about gas shortages.

I think we'll know where Ivan is headed in the states late Sun, or Mon. That gives you plenty of time to decide what to do.

I sure am hoping for the sake of all. Mainly residents, but us vacationers, too, that IVAN gives everyone a break!

I read on another thread that someone was pushing a trip scheduled for Sunday back to the 18th. So hopefully Orlando and WDW will be ready for us. We aren't staying at WDW but at the Sheraton Vistana Villages, so hopefully they will be ready, too!

We are also going on the 18th. I looks like if it hits Florida (hopefully not) that it will be well past by our date.

Enjoy your trip!

Kimberle - maybe I will see you at CR! Not lucky enough for the 14th floor but the 12th will have to do.

Also leaving the 18th. Besides hoping the whole thing misses Florida for the sake of everyone there, if it does hit I hope the damage is minimal. For anyone flying in(we are) delays and the condition of the airport are very important.

Our trip is planned for the 18th as well. Here's to hoping everything will be back to "normal"!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

We are also heading out on the 18th. I was hoping for low crowd attendance. I am concerned that everyone will be pushing their trip next week back to the week of the 18th. See you all there:tongue:

Another one headed out on the 18th! I think we're sufficiently outside the window of danger.

We will be there 9/18-25. I, too, have family in Florida and am praying Ivan turns away and gives the state a break.

For months we have been eagerly awaiting this trip, because we rarely get away without the 3 kids. Now I am happy the kids aren't going because if we need to cancel/modify our trip, they won't be disappointed.

If SW is flying, we'll be on the plane. I'm ANXIOUS to give Florida as many tourist dollars as I can!

my boyfriend and I are also going down on the 18th. I think (hope) the storm should be gone by then, but I do worry about flying from Jersey on Saturday. I wonder if what is left of the storm will make flying conditions bad from all the wind. My friends in FL keep saying to still come.

I too am starting to wonder if the parks will be extra crowded from everyone pushing their trips back a week. But then again, i also read a lot of posts from people moving their trips from Sept to November instead.

We are also scheduled to leave on the 18th. Two people in the party are thinking we should delay our trip & go in Oct. I've been reading all of the posts and it seems that everyone is still keeping their plans for the 18th. Is there anyone who plans on pushing their trip back a week or 2??? Confused and not sure what to do.

We are leaving on the 18th. I would at least wait until Tuesday to make a decision. We are staying at Fort Wilderness and I just found out they are closed for now. I guess they are waiting for Ivan before they open back up. Hurricane Charley and Frances has caused them to have to move everyone out of FW each time so I can see their reasoning. I sure pray Ivan goes very west and chills out. We are driving so we could postpone a week or so but my extended family is flying. If the airport is shut down then that makes a decision for us. I would not cancel until we find out where it is going to hit! Oh! and another concern for us will be flooding in NC and SC because we are taking 95S from VA.

It is teaching me great patience and appreciation!

We are going September 18 - 28 and as of today (Saturday 9/11) still plan on going. Most hurricane forecasts predict that Ivan will have come and gone by then. I've been watching AccuWeather's site since Charley hit. Like many others, I have been keeping the people in Ivan's path in my prayers.

Ivan's Forecast Eye Path

I'm more than happy to give Florida and Disney my tourist dollars!! I will do my best to personally jump start the economy while I'm in Orlando.

Hurricane season runs through the end of November, so pushing my trip back a week or two doesn't guarantee good weather - yet another hurricane could be brewing in the Atlantic!

Just watched the weather channel and it has moved more west! Not that I wish this on anyone. May be if it keeps moving west it will have more time to fizzle....
