I am sorry to hear this, but I hope you can get used to taking the new meds. I do know that there are companies that make cases that keep things cool for many hours without refrigeration through I think evaporation. My co-worker has one from I think Frio for her diabetes meds. How is your daughter doing?

In 15 days I will be on a plane to Barcelona. I sure hope I have the stamina and energy for this trip. I am feeling better but tire very easily. I go back to the doctor next Wednesday for my follow up, so hopefully I will have the approval to go.

Prayers and pixiedust: that you will be able to have the stamina and energy for this trip. Just take it easy and slow from now until the cruise.

Hope that you doctor gives you the go ahead for the trip!!

His vision is great this morning, and they say it will get even better in another day or two. He can see far with the right eye and close with the left. Pretty awesome no glasses after all these years! :thumbsup2
:cool1::thumbsup2

Wow, sounds great. I would need both eyes done because I see nothing without glasses/contacts.

Hello, my name is Ana, my husband is Mario and we have a boy, Ruben, who is seven years old, and a girl, Alicia, six years old. You are very kind. We will try to practise our English.I am grateful to you very much for the explanations, though I don´t understand them completely. In the web of transatlantic pirates our disname is MONPORMA. I will copy the logo of the shirts and then I will do shirts for all of us. Is that correct? We will come to Barcelona on the 18th, because I work on the 17th, but I will be delighted if you have any doubt about Barcelona in answering you.Barcelona is a very nice city. You must see the Sagrada Familia, the park Guell, the Port Olimpic and Poblenou. There is a turistic bus with different routes. I advise you that you have care with the pickpockets.

So I outsmarted myself.....I was not supposed to have my physical until sometime in October....but since I am a Type 2 diabetic I have been on medication that I take by mouth. I figured since we would be on the ship for 2 weeks and probably eating things we never usually eat I would have the physical early. So I had it today--having the blood work last week. Doctor was not happy with the numbers so he is changing my medication to an injectable medication which I have to do myself each day. So now I have medication that needs to be refrigerated and now I have to also carry needles with me. So we will be flying for over 8 hours, so I guess I will have to ask the flight attendants to refrigerate it for me and will have to go through all the security checkpoints with needles. I am so smart....could not just leave things alone until we got back......doctor gave me a note that I need to carry the medication with me on the plane along with the needles....Just something else to worry about.
Tom

I don't know if the flight attendants can refrigerate meds for passengers. You might want to call your airline and ask.

If you don't mind me asking, what medicine did your doctor put you on? I just started Victoza last week and although it needs to be refrigerated before use, once the pen is in use it doesn't have to be. I should ask about carrying my pen on board - my doctor didn't seem to think it would be a problem, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. As far as giving yourself the injections, it's not as bad as you think...I thought for sure I was going to freak out but I was actually ok. It didn't really hurt at all.

I would carry them on. Always carry on all medicines that you don't want to be without. You don't want them to be lost in lost luggage.

Remember to fill out the medical form for DCL. So sorry you have to deal with this on your cruise :( You can put them in a freezer bag check the airline rules regarding what freezer packs you can take. I believe frozen not gel is ok. But each airline might have a different set of rules.

But it is best you did go. What if you had a problem on the ship. This way you can control it better.

The last six days have been a whirlwind and haze. One of my friends, Becky, for the past 27 years was told last week she had two days to live. They found she had pancreatic cancer after they believed she just had a kidney stone. She had better predictions a few days before that, to the point that she would go home and start chemo that would prolong her life for about a year. Not sure if she had really even decided to move forward on that plan or not. Everything just changed SO fast. I'm thankful that three other friends and I got to be with her all of her last day on Earth on Saturday. So for those who believe, please pray for her mom who's now lost her soul mate and her first born. They are an extremely close family, and anywhere you saw Becky, her mom was with her. Parents just shouldn't have to watch their children come in and out of the world. I'm getting ready to head back to my hometown for calling hours tonight and her funeral tomorrow, so her family really needs some extra strength in the next 24 hours and beyond.

Then....I have to get back home for Lisa's memorial on Thursday. She's the one who I told you drowned in the Atlantic on August 15. I highly encourage all of you to "Like" the group "Shea It Forward" (like pay-it-forward) on Facebook in honor of her. Share random acts of kindness that you've given out or received. It's so enriching to see how wonderfully selfless people can be.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to hear about your friends. All you can do now is hold their memories close to your heart.

Sandi just called me with WONDERFUL NEWS. Her tests today showed everything is good. :yay::yay::yay::yay: We are going to have a great cruise.

, had scan today, all ok, dr felt something on my r kidney, but scan says normal abnormalty, a relief, all my "woman bit" are normal
what a relief, I celebrated my going to debenhams and buying a full length ball gown for villains night, Happy Days.

We went to see Dennis' opthomologist this morning and he said it was a "perfect transplanted lens!" :dance3: Good news from Montana too! :)

Hooray!! Wonderful news, all!

Lorraine

You ladies are going to look so gorgeous :thumbsup2.

By the way, for those that responded to my Project Runway comment, yes, I love it and I did not like the guy kicked off, forget the name, but I love Tim Gunn and do NOT like Gretchen. I am waiting for her to get the boot, but I have a feeling we will be seeing her at Fashion Week. I wish Mondo's outfits were a little more eccentric like him. I LOVED Seth Aaron from last year.

I do believe we have the same feelings about the show :thumbsup2.

It's a pain and tough to change your routine just before you leave but I don't think you'll have too much trouble traveling with your medication. I have a close work friend that was concerned when he cruised in 2009 with needles and they never even questioned him. This year in December he will be traveling with the injectable pen. Especially in the states with Type 2 diabetes on the rise, they are very used to people traveling with their medications and know what everything looks like.

you'll weather it through.

I hope you can get a bit more strength back and that you don't have any issues going back to the doctors. I'm with DisneyGirl02, at least it's not like a trip to WDW where you'd be on the go all the time. You will be able to have some very relaxing time on the ship.

Mirando hacia adelante a satisfacerle.

What I said in English

I do not speak any Spanish. I grew up in Canada and we were taught French. It has been years since I spoke that. I did read the three bears in Spanish when I was kid. I had a summer friend who was from Spain. Now if I could only take this web site with me :) But I am good a mime :) I am sure you will have a great time on the cruise.

My name is Ruth. My husband is Glenn. We are from Toronto Ontario Canada. Our Son is an adult and he will be staying home to look after our dogs. Looking forward to meeting you.

Sí copiar el logotipo. Imprímelo en plancha sobre el papel de transferencia. No estoy seguro de que esto se traducirá también. Espero que los que hablan español pueden hacer un mejor trabajo en esto.

Yes you copy the logo. Print it on iron on transfer paper. I am not sure this will translate well. I hope those who speak Spanish can do a better job at this.

Thanks for all the kind words....did the first injection tonight and it was rather easy and basically painless.....a little stomach discomfort but they say it could be a side effect that goes away.....anyway.....I am ready to cruise!!!

By the way folks...my DD is doing much better....thank you all for asking about her!

See you guys real soon.....OK...a couple of weeks....

Tom

Got back from visiting family in the Denver area today and couldn't believe I was 54 pages behind! Hope I didn't miss anything important.

August has been a blur! Not even going to try to catch up since we now have three days to get all my son's stuff packed up and ready to take him back to college in Massachusetts on Saturday (8 hour drive each way). When we get back , we'll be about a week away from leaving for Barcelona.

I try not to stress too much about travel but this cruise just crept up on me...oh well, adds to the excitement!

Looking forward to meeting everyone soon!

Andrea

Nineteen years ago, I freshened my best friend's lipstick and held her as she took her last breath. I know there is nothing I can say that will lessen your pain right now, but know that your being there meant the world to her.:hug::hug:

What a beautiful expression of your love for her. I do believe that what goes around comes around. You've got some good karma just waiting for you.

Tom, as much as a pain as this is for you, it's all for the best. Now you have a better way to take care of yourself!

Becky, give yourself some time; an operation is no small matter. Be good to yourself!

Make sure you carry a copy of your prescription with you for 2 reasons:
1. if you have a problem someone will know what you are taking
2. If you run out or your bottle breaks while traveling you can get it replaced. My mom forgot her spare bottle when we were traveling but because she had a copy of what she was taking Rite Aid or Walgreen's cant remember which one gave her a replacement bottle without a problem.

Also make sure you take your own food on the plane. When we went to Hawaii we sat in the back of the plane and they ran out of food before they got to my mom. Thankfully we had planned for such a thing and we had crackers for her to eat. My mom is not the best example to follow she will take her medication and forget to eat causing us all to act quickly when her sugar drops. I keep candy in my purse just for her.

question: if you travel with medication does it have to be in its original bottle. i work a Dr and get samples of both a gout medication and arthritis medication will i need to get something from her showing she prescribed them?

(Also, has anyone heard from kcashner? I have sent a few PMs to her and still no reply and no room # for her. Anyone know her room #? Or if she is even cruising with us still?)

I got confirmation from kcashner today that she is still on the cruise. I didn't get her room number though (not that I asked.)

Sorry about the injection thing but glad to hear that your daughter is doing well!

Thanks - do you have any idea how close that is to Le Meridien?

It's 600 meters straight line. Of course, you can't go in a straight line! :lmao:
To get you in the vicinity, it's about 125 meters southeast of the Barcelona Cathedral.
The best way to find it would be to go to the Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya (on Placa de Sant Jaume), walk northeast on Carrer de Jaume I, then turn right at the second street, which is Calle de la Dagueria. It should be about 35 meters on the right.

Florida weather?

OK...so I have actually been TRYING to avoid looking at the weather. We love traveling to Orlando in September because crowds are often lighter after Labor Day and it's cheaper to use points, etc....but the sucky thing is hurricanes.

My mom emailed me this morning and wanted to know if Earl & Fiona (the two storms in the Atlantic right now that will probably be impacting the East Coast over the weekend) are goign to affect our trip. I honestly didn't know because, like I said, I've been avoiding looking at it (because it's not like we will change our vacation plans :rotfl2:).

Anyhow...any of you Floridians have a sense? I looked on weather.com and it looks like the weather forecast for WDW area is actually decent for the whole weekend until Monday when tehre will be scatter T-storms....adn it looks like both the storms are going to stay out to sea----and Earl will already be up by New England by Sunday(ish). So is the Orlando area expecting either storm to really impact them? And what about us B2B folks who are flying out of Orlando and/or Atlanta on Monday afternoon----is either storm expected to mess up our travel? (Fiona looks like she is going to be in the northern Florida/Georgia area on Sunday/Monday but she's not that strong----50mph, right? Although I'm not a pilot or a meteorologist...so I ahve no idea what the impact of 50mph winds over the ocean would be on a TransAtlantic flight).

I guess we're lucky that our flight has us arriving more than a day early...so if we do have delays, all we lose is Barcelona time...and no ship time! :)

It appears that Earl and Fiona will be following essentially the same track as Danielle. My DD#3 went to the beach Saturday and reported strong rip currents; that was really the only effect on central Florida. We expect the same from Earl but Fiona looks like she'll be much weaker soon because she's getting caught up in the aftereffects of Earl. So, nothing to worry about!

Hello. We are the only Spanish family of the trip. Our knowledge of the English language is very limited, but if you need some information of Barcelona I will be charmed with of providing it. Do anyone of yours speak spanish?

Bienvenido a nuestro grupo! He estado en España muchas veces (Madrid, Toledo, Ávila, Segovia, Sevilla, Rota), pero mi español no es tan bueno como tu Inglés - y yo soy muy lento!

My mother was allergic to eggs. She used to get bad stomach pains. she couldn't have the flu jabs either because they are cultivated on eggs.
I am pretty sure I can't eat eggs due to my dodgy gallbladder. I am not too good with nuts, coffee, raw onions and dairy either. Silly galbladder! :headache:

I have my gown for formal night, my outfit for villian night, my pink for champagne day, my tiara, the materials for my f.e's and all of the kids f.e. are done. I have my drugs for the medicine chest, my packsafe, my cameras and tripod, several cards (enough for 30,000 pictures, I really think enough) I have blank dvds. I have 18 days worth of mentionables, 3 swimsuits, coverups, socks, Crocs, sandals, sun tan lotion and sun screen lotion, curling iron, dressy shoes, shorts, jeans, tshirts and makeup.

I am waiting on my spanx, my drivers license renewal, and the logo for my MMC shirt. I should have it all by Friday. :hippie::hippie::hippie:

Your excitement is infectious, I could feel myself getting excited just reading your post! :dance3:

Oh my, I have a headache. Not a real one, but a spare bed and clothes rail absolutely crammed full of my clothes. And, I haven't finished yet. Sun tops and shorts to go through yet. I could wear something different for every night of the trip, honestly, and I don't know what to chuck out. I want to take everything and have choice.

Then, on the floor, and in a carrier bag, are THINGS. You know, a huge collection of bits n bobs put aside to pack. Toiletries, books, travel tissues, sun cream, jewellery, bags, etc etc. Oh, and FE gifts!!! Tomorrow I start on the shoes. Goodness me. I need a lie down. John is not going to be pleased.

Try packing for a family of 4, for a month away, using minimal room so you can still shop in America, Argghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:
Having said that, I think I am organised....finally! ;)

Hola and :welcome:
I am sorry, we do not know any spanish other than what we learned from Dora the Explorer. My husband and I are travelling with our 2 daughters, 8 and 9. We look forward to meeting you. :goodvibes

Hello everyone -

The last six days have been a whirlwind and haze. One of my friends, Becky, for the past 27 years was told last week she had two days to live. They found she had pancreatic cancer after they believed she just had a kidney stone.

Kimberley, I don't know what to say, I am not very elegant with words, the first thing that comes to mind is - THAT JUST SUCKS!!!!!! I know there is nothing anyone can say to take away the pain, but we are all hear for you if you need to share or vent. I will keep her mother, family and friends in my prayers. Big Hugs

my bother hated eggs when he was little , my aunt was DETERMINED he would eat them, she sneaked them into custard for him................
an hour later he (god bless him) vomited them all over her serves her right..

Bahahahahahaha, love it! I have such a weird sense of humour! :lmao:

, had scan today, all ok, dr felt something on my r kidney, but scan says normal abnormalty, a relief, all my "woman bit" are normal
what a relief, I celebrated my going to debenhams and buying a full length ball gown for villains night, Happy Days.

Great news, Your dress is divine, can't wait to see it on!

MY MAGNETS ARE ON THE SHIP!!!!!
:woohoo::dance3::woohoo:

YEAH! Thanks to my MIL, Goofy Granny to post my results. I was so happy that I hugged the technician and radiologist!!! They told me to have a wonderful cruise and not be stressed. Glad to hear about your tests too Lynn. What a relief it is and thank you everyone for your prayers.
Fantastic, some of that pixie dust must work!

We went to see Dennis' opthomologist this morning and he said it was a "perfect transplanted lens!" Good news from Montana too! :)
 Wonderful news

NO state roomes available for our cruise rooms whatsoever....

Hmmmm.........

our last port on the Med cruise and then the 17th is a sea day and then we're back in Barcelona on the 18th to pick all of you up!

Look after her for us! ;)

How's the vision? Is it high def? That's what Zachary (DS12) said when he recently got new glasses. I'm still waiting for my high def vision. Went to optometrist again today and they need to order another contact lens for me. I'm hoping he can find a good lens for me before the cruise. They say the third time is the charm, and I'm hoping that's true in this case!

Good luck, hopefully 3rd time will be lucky!

This is the one i got from Debenhams

Another gorgeous dress!

you may remember i posted a few days ago that DCL had withdrawn my early booking onboard room credit as i had 'amended' my booking - ie offered me the upgrade that i had requested to begin with, which i accepted, and paid more money for (and earlier).

Well i emailed to express my disappointment (nicely), and i am pleased to say that i had an email back this morning advising me that they are crediting my credit card with $300 for the med cruise and the $200 credit will be available for the TA - good times!!
Lorraine

Awesome, lot's of extra drinks and spa time for you! :thumbsup2
