We were able to get Palo brunch when we booked on the 5th.
I meant I was asking if anyone got it last night. :)

Hope you all got everything you wanted booked tonight. My family and I are new to the DisBoards. We are doing the last Med and the TA, back2back. I have just finished reading about 100+ posts. You all sound like very experienced cruisers. This will be our family's 4th Disney Cruise. It will be me, my dh age 39 (he will be turning 40 while on the med cruise on 9-15), ds age 12, dd age 8, and g-ma (my mom). This will be g-ma's first ever cruise, so she is very excited! I signed up on the "roll call", but would also like to do the FE group, scavenger hunt, etc. It all sounds like so much fun. We are also interested in the West Madeira private excursion. I tried to PM Noel, but wasn't able to til I have 10 posts.
welcome!
sound about our age (although DH is a couple years older and I turn 41 right before the cruise- close enough haha) -- our middle child DS will be still 12 on this cruise.. and our DD while just turned 10 is small for her age and plays with all the 7/8yr old girls around here. HAHA They might hit it off if they have similar interests. Got a princess on your hands? I do. haha
Very excited for G-ma! :)

Hi everyone, some great info on this thread, I just thought I would introduce myself (be gentle lol)
There is me, Tim and my DW Kerrie, we are from Yorkshire in the U.K. and love everything Disney, we got married in Florida in 2003 on our first trip together to WDW and have been back every year since. This will be our 3rd DCL cruise and can't wait  We bought DVC at Bay Lake Tower last year while on the Magic and have booked this cruise with DVC points (only 330 for both of us :thumbsup2 )
We fly to Barcelona on the 17th with Easyjet from Doncaster and are staying at the Marriot Reannaisance for the night.
I was also up at 5am this morning and managed to get Palo dinner for the day and time that I wanted as well as the 2 shore excursions I wanted, but you can add me to the growing list who couldn't get brunch :sad1: so I will keep checking online or try onboard.
Looking forward to getting to know you all better (I think I know a couple of you already) not long now :banana::banana::banana::banana:

Tim
welcome!

In regards to sunlight, keep in mind this is about a month later than the 2007 cruise. Sunset on September 18 in Barcelona will be 7:56 pm, so it should be beautiful watching the shoreline as we sail away!
Awesome!
Should be nice to have a sailaway party that's not in the blistering sun of Florida or Ca. haha

I
OK, for concierge all we can book is one of each. We can request a second or whatever, but nothing other than the first is confirmed. I tried to book a second tea and was told no - the group that I set up was it for me. I do admit to having a second dinner on request.

Also, I was told that MOST anything I wanted could be booked once on board, but if there were things I really wanted to ask upfrant. I pondered for weeks and then sent a list. Many of the things on the list were things that could be reserved at the concierge date - but most of the requests were for things that can only be done on board. They will send a listing to the concierge manager on the ship and I have to confirm on day of sailing.

I am good with the process - cruise more, select earlier. Pay for a suite, book earlier. I get it and I respect it. Had we not upgraded we would have been online at midnight with the other Silvers.

Whast burns me is that a 14 day cruise is no better than a 3 day... Heck, a 3 day is equal to a 7 day... One would think that points based on nights onboard would count for something... But, alas, they dont... I am really thinking about doing a B2B next time around... Although it is total repeat of everything... :: sigh :: Stepping off the soapbox now...
we also upgraded.
And I put in only a request for our "other room" (non-concierge) to have the same excursions as us- since we want to do those as a family! But that's it.
It was only later that I considered doing brunch which is why I waited till last night (the night we could book on our other non-concierge room... of which one of us adults is in. I think it's me this time. haha) -- but we're okay if we can't get it. I can probably call or email and get it now-- but we'll just let it simmer and see if we still want to do it once we get onboard- and then if it's not available for us then... so be it. Wasn't meant to be. haha
We have never done brunch before. We had it booked one time- and totally forgot and missed it. haha so yeah....... not sure it's really a pressing matter for us. ;)

I agree with you about the silver/etc. thing though. We generally book the longer cruises and we book 2 rooms each time... I think I had it figured out that we'll have 50 nights, 2 rooms for all those nights- by the time we're FINALLY moving up from silver. ridiculous. I'm just glad we had concierge this time so we could get the excursions we wanted.
The problem is that our 5th cruise will be the cruise TO alaska- then the Alaska cruise we're doing right after that (doing B2B) we'd qualify to book earlier but not until AFTER that cruise to alaska... which means we won't be able to book ahead of time until before our 7th cruise.
By the time we can book early (no longer silver, not counting when we booked concierge for this cruise) we will have cruised 55 or 56 nights, 2 rooms each time... *smh*
Whatever.

I hope everyone eventually gets what they want!

I know I clicked to multi-quote someone who was talking about the purses.. but it didn't show up!
I'm not one that's big on buying purses, especially expensive ones. I basically use one purse, inexpensive one at that, until it just about falls apart (or a strap falls off due to weight haha) and then get another one and use it only.
but I'm really really feeling like I want one of those DCL dooney purses. So I might see y'all in line. haha

Fingers crossed for a quiet night everybody, catch up on Tuesday, only one night off(million things to do) then I am locuming tuesd, wed, thursd(disney dollars!) so busy day tom and probably wont be able to catch up, no more than 20 pages right:lmao:

Yeah... 20 pages... Per day maybe... I have noticed that htis griup is getting very chatty again! Guess we are all excited!!

The apes are everywhere and are free roaming. However, they generally stick to specific areas where food is laid out for them. They will occasionally follow a person if they think you have food.

Careful with camers and other items like handbags. Someone posted a while back on the main board that the apes tried to steal their camera...

I like Royal Caribbean's loyalty program.
  • One cruise credit for each completed sailing.
  • One extra credit when you sail in a suite, and
  • One extra credit when you sail on a 12-night or longer cruise.
Woody

I like this... Hey DCL - wake up!! I wonder if their club plans wil ever change to include this type of thing?

I am exhausted from researching. We have booked our private tour on the 16th in Barcelona. We will see La Sagrada Familia Church, Casa Mila (La Pedrera) and Gaudii’s other amazing works and possibly the Olympic ring.

Have booked Girona Costa Brava, Girona And Dali Museum Private Tour for Friday 9/17

Duration: 1 day (10 hours)

Type: chauffeured (separate driver)

Interests: Dali, medieval history, Jewish heritage, countryside

The first part of your full day excursion to northern Catalonia will take you to Girona. Girona is a beautiful medieval town north of Barcelona, with an impressive cultural heritage and a magnificent and well preserved medieval historical center. Girona is also known for the town´s long and rich Jewish history. In the middle ages, Girona's Jewish quarter flourished. Today's Museum of Jewish History perfectly recreates that period.

I will take you on a fascinating trip back in time, as you immerse in the mysterious tiny alleys of the old town, where the walls are said to whisper the secrets of hundreds of years of history.

In the afternoon, your private tour will continue with a guided visit to the Dali Museum in the town of Figueres, to admire the works of this universally admired genius.

On Saturday another half day tour of Montserrat Tour Duration: ½ day (5 hours)

Type: chauffeured (separate driver)

Interests: nature, history, art, and spirituality

Montserrat is a beautiful mountain with an impressive monastery located just one hour away from the city, so it makes for a great half day trip outside Barcelona. The bizarre rock formations in Montserrat create a unique universe in stone. The landscape and the view are absolutely breathtaking!

Perched on the mountain, the magnificent Benedictine monastery keeps the revered wooden statue of the Black Madonna inside its basilica. Montserrat is also famous because of the "Escolania", Europe's oldest singing choir. Enjoy the children's beautiful voices before returning to Barcelona!

and then to the ship around 1. Does this sound like a nice sample of the Barcelona and the surrounding area?

I had hoped to do the dinner and Flaminco show, but after flying in and taking a tour, I am afraid we will be to exhausted.

Our kids might get along just fine! My ds is 12, and my dd is 10 going on 8 or 18 depending on her mood and whether there are toys involved. She loves drawing and reading, and playing with toys and webkins Some times she finds it hard to find mates her own age because her interests are still young compared to her peer group. But as a parent I like it because it means she isn't growing up

I meant I was asking if anyone got it last night. :)

I will then run to the store after I book Palo Brunch!!!

I pm'd Kimberly too cause I forgot we talked about you advising her of our flight!!!:lmao::lmao:
We are such twins. And if the store opens while you are in line for Palo brunch, I'll get your purse too! :goodvibes

I read somewhere that Disney finances and sends their own pyrotechnics to Barcelona for the two EBTA arrivals in part as a publicity event to let Europe know they are there. So, I highly doubt we'll get a send-off of the same nature. :sad1:

The friend in me wants to say that I think Treasure Ketch will open for the first time on our cruise around 10:00 pm when we are out to sea instead of the next morning, but the competitor in me didn't just say that outloud! :rotfl:Now that is funny. Thanks for that. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I would rather get the same info for you guys (or anyone) 5 times than never receive it at all! Now on the 6th time, I might have to start charging Drinks of the Day for inbox overload! :rotfl2:
We tend to be stereo. :goodvibes:goodvibes

I was on the 2010 EBTA and heard that Disney hosted a big reception that evening at a local hotel ballroom overlooking the port.

They invited public officials and people from Disney's operations in Europe, such as Disneyland Paris and Adventures by Disney.

The fireworks were spectacular.

Woody
I want fireworks. September 18th is my birthday and I want fireworks. :lovestruc:lovestruc

see you too at the meet Sarah!:thumbsup2

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Last night, my DH and I went to see "Toy Story 3". I had to cry! It was a happy and sad cry...but it was a wonderful movie. When TS2 came out, I had just started working at my Disney Store 6 months before and look at me now - 11 years later and I'm still there! :thumbsup2

Hi everyone, some great info on this thread, I just thought I would introduce myself (be gentle lol)

:welcome:

Better late than never ....

ONLY 12 WEEKS TO GO UNTIL WE JOIN THE DISNEY MAGIC !!!!!
(well 11 weeks and 6 days really !!!)
:jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:

There are a few things I just would not book, knowing John, whether I asked him or not!!!

You should probably know what he likes and doesn't like by now, and if you don't know what he likes ..........Just tell him! :thumbsup2

There were tons of Palo and Spa services last night and this morning! I think you will be able to get ressies for both.

Great, thanks, fingers crossed. :thumbsup2

One more obsession.... where will they sell the purses and what time will that store open????:love::love:

Oh, those purses sound like they are going to walk off the shelves, I might just go and watch with my video camera and watch for some purse rage!!!:rotfl2:

Now that takes all the fun out of it. If you have a picture young good looking woman who looks like she spend a lot of time at the gym and berach with a very tall handsome man who is also built. It is not us:thumbsup2 Ours is the two old overweight, out of shape fun loving geezers.:rotfl2: I will try and fins one and get that to you.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The friend in me wants to say that I think Treasure Ketch will open for the first time on our cruise around 10:00 pm when we are out to sea instead of the next morning, but the competitor in me didn't just say that outloud! :rotfl:

You're a good friend! :flower3:

Hi Hayley...My dd Megan (8) would love to meet your dd's. You are all really going to enjoy this cruise as your first!!!
Fantastic! I am really enjoying the planning of the cruise, I just can't wait to get there! 87 days until we leave Australia! ;)

In regards to sunlight, keep in mind this is about a month later than the 2007 cruise. Sunset on September 18 in Barcelona will be 7:56 pm, so it should be beautiful watching the shoreline as we sail away!

Thanks! I love having all these smarty pants here with all their knowledge, I'd be lost without you all! :thumbsup2

I am heading straight there - I will hold a bag, or place in line for whoever can't get there! We DIS'ers have to stick together!

Sue, I can just see you there with dozens of bags up your arms saying "No, they are for my Dis friends, go away, you can't have them......" :lmao:

The whole cruise status thing should be similar to airlines frequent flyers programs, the longer the flight / cruise the more points and the higher the class / cabin the more points. Simple really, why can't they think of that? Duh?

For some reason I can't figure out what I had planned on for St Marteen. The only DCL tour I was going to book was in Tortolla, but now I have other plans. In Gibraltar we'll just grab a cab with some friends, Madiera is the group tour, Tortolla we're going snorkeling and St Marteen, ???? I can't recall. Guess this is where lists and spreadsheets come in handy huh? I've had it all in my head, but I think there's a leak. What the heck was I doing on this last island? Was anyone putting together a tour here?

A leak, huh. I think I may have a steady stream of leakage! :rotfl2:

Fingers crossed for a quiet night everybody, catch up on Tuesday, only one night off(million things to do) then I am locuming tuesd, wed, thursd(disney dollars!) so busy day tom and probably wont be able to catch up, no more than 20 pages right:lmao:

yeah right, 20 pages a day.....:dance3:

I hate to be a wet blanket but yesterday was actually 13 weeks to go. :confused3

Still happy about that!:cool1:

Yikes .... sorry guys.... it's difficult typing with the left hand ... I must have hit the 2 instead of the 3. Now don't anyone turn up a week early now :rotfl:

I was able to book the excursions I wanted in Gibralta and Tortola. And Palo dinner on Tortola night.

oooohhhh we're in Palo on Tortola night too :yay:

This should make you feel better:

On the EBTA, we had five zone time changes, and lost an hour of sleep five night in a row.

On the WBTA, you will gain back those hours -- five extra hours of sleep!

People on the EB were jealous of the WB.

Woody

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

see you too at the meet Sarah!:thumbsup2

I'll be there ... wanted brunch more than dinner really .... hope we get lucky :wizard:

Well there has to be some system and it took some time for DCL to even make one!!:lmao: I agree about the length of cruise too as we did a 15 night cruise which counted as one cruise but you could do 5 x 3 night and to gold for the same number of nights!!! Took us 40 nights to get to gold because of the way we cruised. But that is how it is.

I like Royal Caribbean's loyalty program.

This sounds good for those of us who have taken longer cruises, but how would it actually work with these onboard bookings. In the end it would just be the same wouldn't it?

OK, I know this totally isn't the right place to post this, But I wanted to share with my Dis friends. I thought everyone knew about this, but I was talking to Su-Kraft today and she didn't know, and I thought she was the absolute guru!

So, I wrote a letter to Disney about a month ago telling them that my kids loved Disney and who their favourite characters are, and popped in some pictures the kids had done. Yesterday I received a big envelope from Disney with a photo of Minnie signed "to my friend Arabella, Love Minnie Mouse" and a photo of Alice and the White Rabbit with a similar signing for Lucinda. They are great quality black and white 8 x 10 inch, glossy photo's, hand signed. They also threw in some Fab Five signed 4 x 6 fan cards.
The kids were so excited to get mail from Disney, I framed the pictures and put them in their room today, they look great.
Just thought I'd put it out there in case anyones kids (or big kids) might like one. :thumbsup2

Just checked on Palo and there is a table for 2 available every night except day 6 which is the first of the 5 consecutive sea days.

Thanks
Just checked again though. Only availability is for 9pm on any of the nights most people want. That is, avoiding Formal nights, Pirates night, Port days etc.
We have had the 9pm slot before, and didnt over enjoy it so late. We don't mind the late time, but felt we were in the way of clearing up!

I have reserved for Tortola night at 830pm, so we will see how it goes when on board. Still hoping for Brunch!

I have booked Parasailing on CC for 1230, but am wondering whether to keep or not. Originally DH promised this as part of my christmas present last year :lovestruck. But he did say I could change to something else if I wish. My main concern is that we are at CC for such a short time, how can I sacrifice the time at |Serenity Bay! It would mean not getting down there until likely 2pm. And then its Lunch to rush....Will be pondering this one! As dedicated beach bums, we normally hit the loungers and stay there lol. Am thinking might be better to have a massage or something on a sea day, when weather may limit our sunbed time by the adult pool!

On another note, has anyone ever tried the teeth whitening? My dentist is rather negative about such treatments, muttering darkly about long term effects. Any one any thoughts or experience? How well does it work?
