Well, you will have a week to get all your photos in order to show to DH and then make the house guests look at the too! ;):rolleyes1

I am SO glad this conversation was started!! :worship: We have a travel roll of charmin that I will remember to put in and we have a few travel seat covers. The sanitizer wipes will also be on my list. We have never been to Europe, so this is the kind of info we NEED!! :flower3: I think I will keep an eye out for McD's, KFC or Starbucks also. We can always use a coffee.

What about the hotel room? Will there be paper there? :confused
YES, the hotel will have paper, macdonalds are ok for toilets usually, not the best but if you need to go you need to go.
I wonder if we can get Little Britain to do "Little Britain DCL" :lmao::lmao:

My wife Helen exposed me to lil britain , as even though she is Filipino most of her education and her summers were in England ...So needless to say she has a full british accent , which is great .....I am sure she will feel right at home with some of you ... When we were in Boracay in the Philippines her friend Samantha from England was there and man when they talked it was hard to keep up ...LOL ....

I cant stand that programme, Len thinks its hilarious.

As it is now, the spreadsheet text is set to be the same color as the background color. I have aslo downloaded my PM's and cleared out my box, so if there is concern, please feel free to PM me the info.

OK, here is some big news... I have to do a packing check, but I think I have an <<GASP>> empty carry on. Yes, despite a full bag of FE gifts and magnets, and one bag with clothes just for the 2 days in Barcelona, I realized that I didn't count on a carry on bag for Stephen as he will have the back pack. However, that would be his personal bag and we can still use a carry on for him.

Anyway - I will try and do a packing check this week and see if I can carry shirts with us. If it works out, and you all are OK with this, I will have the shirts in our cabin, and then will bring to our meet (do we have details on this as yet?)

IF we are over weight and have to use that last carry on for our clothing, then I think that we can mark it as a gift and send it well ahead of time to the hotel. The hotel has confirmed that they will accept it for us, and hold it until we arrive on the 16th. Does anyone know what the customs process is, and what fees might be? I can also have it sent from my office, and mark it as work documents. Noth sure of the ramifications of either of these options. Can anyone weigh in on this option?

Sue
Well, that would be great but hardly seems fair to you:confused3
So, I was right - we can probably bring some of the cruise shirts over to barcleona with us. I have part of a carry one that is (yep, really) not accounted for...

Does this work for people? I can bring them all the way to the ship and distribute at the meet, or if you are at the Praktik I can distribute there...

Thoughts??
I will come find you so you can offload ours if needed.
I see that nasty little ash cloud has closed down heathrow again. I'm a little panicked about this, As most of you know, we are coming from Australia and arrive on the Friday 17th around lunch time. But, If that cloud is back I'm not sure how we'll get there? As long as we can get to Europe, we should be able to jump on a flight to Barcelona, right? Or if Barcelona airport is closed, how hard is it to get a train? Worse case, Can we meet up in Gibralter? Will Disney allow us to board there?
I know alot of you are in the same boat (:rotfl:), what are your contingency plans?
If there was ever a time to cross-pack, this is it, if we have to change flights after our luggage has been checked from Australia, what's the chance of getting it all, Must remember a change of clothes in the cabin bag!!! :thumbsup2
DOnt even want to think about it, we have 3 days, even though the airports are closing, they are opening and closing all the time.

Hi Hayley,

We too are a little concerned. We have 8 days in England and fly to Barcelona the afternoon before the cruise leaves. We've decided worst case scenerio we may have to cut England a few days short and get the train to Barcelona. Its not only getting there but theres also the problem of finding accommodation for 4 people.

Lets hope we don't have to worry about it :headache::headache:

Paula

ps your girls are lovely:)

At least you have 8 leisurely days to get there if your first flight doesn't take off!!! We don't have much time up our sleeve at all. I was wondering about a train, need to do some research about how long it takes from each airport. I hope we don't have to do that with 2 kids and luggage! Oh well, worst case if we don't get there, we rebook the EBTA next year. It's out of our hands!:confused3

I am watching the ash cloud here: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/cgi-app/volcanic?LANG=en&ART=0&BASE=201005151800

We have a 2 day beffer built in but I would hate to lose out on seeing Barcelona. I wonder what the airlines are doing to keep people moving. I think they all learned a painful lesson when flights completely stopped for 3 days...

They can now fly through light ash, which they didn't at the beginning. Trouble is the volcano is showing no signs of stopping, and occasionally throws out different grades of ash, which is the problem if it comes our way. The main problem for us is the direction of the wind.:sad2: Oh, and the reports recently have said this volcano could keep erupting for 20 years!!:headache:

We have a whole load of Brits with many different accents, so Helen is going to fit right in there somewhere!!!:thumbsup2 Looking forward to meeting her.

It is hard not to worry isn't it? Chances are we will all get there just fine. I have heard of people joining cruises at different ports.

Nice to see you John:wave: I seem to remember you did used to post didn't you?

Now there's an idea. As long as it doesn't break down on the way!!!:scared1:

:rotfl2::rotfl2: OK, coach it is...wonder how much it would cost to book one for all of us.......and all those pick up points!:thumbsup2

There was a coach option that I founf somewhere on the web, but it took about 27hrs :scared1::scared1:

Lynne, my op is on Saturday. In for 7.30 and ready for home between 12md and 2pm!!!!! Unbelievable isn't it??

Will be thinking about you on Saturday and hoping all goes well.:hug:

Oh, it is coming very quickly now. We are looking at alternative ways to get to Barcelona just in case the dreaded ash cloud is around at that time. some UK airports are closed today again!

Us too ..... definitely getting a bit edgy about the unpredictability of it all.

I think we will buy a cheap car and dump it in barcelona:lmao:

Secret Mickey

Welcome to the WBTA Secret Mickey:

This works along the same idea as a Secret Santa. Each participating stateroom will be matched with another stateroom, and the idea is to buy or make a gift or gifts, with a total cost per cabin of no more than $25. The gift (s) can be one big joint gift for all those in the stateroom, or small individual gifts for each person. The gifts can be left in the FE during the cruise, or you can have the room attendant put the gift in the room. You should have a tag/card that designates it as a gift from their Secret Mickey.

To enable me to match up the rooms, I will need the following information from each participating group:

1. name of participants
2. ages and genders of any children participating
3. DIS name
4. cabin number
5. each person's likes or preferences
6. each person's dislikes
7. any allergies
8. favourite Disney characters for each participant
9. hobbies or interests of each participant

This will help give the participants some idea of what they can incorporate into their gift.

Could you please PM TotallyAngelic with the information required.

There will have to be a closing date to give people time to think about and make / buy their gifts, and I think July 1st would be about right.

Ahoy mates! If youa re considering ordering a shirt for the cruise, now is the time! Please see below for more info...
---------------------------------------------------

T SHIRTS
The t-shirt deadline is looming and I need all ye orders as quickly as possible! We get a price break at 100 shirts and as of today we are at 64. To keep the prices in line, we really need to get all orders in as soon as possible. As a reminder, our cutoff date for ordering shirts is May 31. So, no time like the present, please get your orders in. NO EXTRA SHIRTS WILL BE ORDERED!!!

PRICING:
Shirts should come in at about $12-$13 per shirt. This is for sizes up to an adult XL. Shirts above XL will have a slightly higher price. We are getting a very high quality shirt that should not shrink, and should hold the screened image very well.

Is there anywhere I have missed that helps with sizing?

Captains Dining = Early seating
Crew Dining = Late seating

Thank you! I had never heard that - lol! We will be on Captains Dining for this cruise :) and hopefully will have our favorite server again! He just came on from vacation on the EBTA and it was wonderful having him (we also had him on our WBPC cruise in 2008)

I can't imagine how scary that is Krisann! I'm so glad that we only get a warning once every couple of years!

Oh I wish we only had them every couple of years. We get warnings I would say 5 or more times a year (if not more) it is just part of our life - when you hear the sireons - go to the basement! Our schools have even been known to dismiss early or cancel school because of the threat of severe weather and a tornado possibly coming (those are not the ones that hit though of course).

Just be careful - not sure what airliines you are flying on - but some in europe will only allow ONE carry on. My husband had a small back pack (very small) and a small carry on bag and they said no - only one of them - we had to check the bigger and send things through we never should have had in checked bags. it turned out ok but while we are flying Delta (and that I can have the personal item) from the US to Munich - we are staying in Austria a few days - we will be flying KLM from Munich to Barcelona and that is who we had problems with so told my kids their "small backpacks" must fit inside the carry on easily so that there is no question and no shuffling and paying extra fees at the airport for additional checked bags. With my son he had a sling backpack - small size - and they counted that as his one carry on and would not allow him a 2nd - only a "purse" is allowed as an extra item (and a small one at that) - of course now I want to purchase hubby and son a "man purse" so they can have some things in those. Sorry to ramble but this luggage thing with carry-ons was a nightmare! And you don't even want to know the issues I had getting through security in Paris!

It is ridik in europe, they can be so nancy about it, thats why we bought new carry on, to meet the exact sizes.

Ryan Air( dont we just love ryan air.....) dont even allow a purse, and also mind , not sure about all of them, but I know weve said it before, also duty free, anything you buy has to go into the ONE bag with ryan air, and they stick to the rules big time.

Just a thought  why not 'borrow' a roll from your state room and take it with you on excursions.

What about before we board the ship, lol. Besides I don't do the big bag on vacation;).

Pj

We are thinking about getting a day pass for Continental's Club at the Newark airport since we have a 7 hour layover and I don't want to try to leave the airport. Has anyone done this before and was it worth it? I like the free WiFi, snack and drinks part of it

My boss swears by the clubs at the airport.
