Good morning everyone

We are back from Mousemeets :thumbsup2 We really enjoyed our 2 days away, and the highlights of the weekend were meeting up with Lynne and Len and having a lovely lunch with them, and also getting tgether with our wonderful Disney friends from the DIS UK boards.

We had a lovely meal in the Hard Rock Cafe, and a few drinkies in the bar on the Saturday evening. On the Sunday we attending the Mousemeets events: a talk on buying a holiday home in Orlando which has totally put me off ever doing that, a talk on Port Orleans Resort, which was interesting especially as we are staying there in October, a Disney Quiz which we did particularly badly at ( because Lynne and Len missed the second part .... we were even worse without them :rotfl: ) There were also Disney collectables on sale and Taryn ( DD ) and her DBF ( Matt) bought me a wonderful Disney Traditions Steamboat Willie Mickey figure. We also got to see a cinema showing of Snow White on the big screen, which was wonderful ( and it was rather scary :scared1: seeing that witch on the big screen )

Needless to say our conversations were mostly about the cruise and how excited we all were ..... and now after meeting Lynne and Len we are even more excited :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

My only complaint was that the weekend flew by and it was all a bit hectic trying to fit everything in.

Glad you had such a good time.:cool1:

Sarah you'll have to tell me all about the talk, I brought a villa nearly 10 years ago and have never looked back, for me its been the best way to visit Florida. At times it can be very hard work and stressful, I've just had electric bills of $1200 :scared1: for two months due a fault with the air con unit, but these problems are far out weighed by the family times and the great comments when old and new friends get use from the place. I wouldn't be able to go over twice a year if I didn't own! It is also very relaxing to stay somewhere so familiar. Over the years I spoken to lots of people who have had sales people tell them tall stories about rental potential and it has cost them dearly, planning has helped me stay lucky.

Being hectic sounds like a good excuse to have another trip to Manchester!

I think the talk was mostly focusing on the negatives and all the hidden overheads .... about $15, 000 yearly fees for maintenance, bills, taxes etc.
It would be interesting to hear about your experiences. Do you run it as a business?

Yes and no, I run it as a business from tax purposes, however when I'm asked about dates its available if I get a feeling about people I won't rent it to them. I won't rent it at any cost this is where the hidden extras come in as if you sell it low and pack it high you have all the wear and tear and if people want bargin basement thats normally how they treat things and you could end up with damage which is more then you got in rent.

You could say I'm picky:rotfl: I don't see why I should pay for someone elses holiday, I'd ratehr have it empty and pay the bills myself. I don't advertise it through any holiday companies. I have my own web site and use a US based one and a UK based one plus word of mouth and that does the trick. I've never had any major problems with damage I keep it nice and fully stocked with everything you need for two weeks stay and so far :pixiedust: people have looked after it.

I think I've developed a radar when people email or call you get a sense that they're your type of people or not!

Have a look at my website its dot peppermillvilla dot co dot uk

Its good to know that people are no longer being told all the great things about owning, one guy I met had ben told the rental company would get him 48 weeks a year and so he brought a bigger house, he had to sell it within two years as he could afford to run it when the rentals never materialised.

When I brought I had a friend who had a rental and she went through all the bills with me so I had my eyes open, but you need insurance for this a licence for that! :confused3

I wouldn't sell it though, when I'm having abad day at work I remind myself why I'm there and its more than enough to keep me going :lmao:

For anyone doing magnets I got Milliepie to design this one for me

I'm not very good at this linking lark! :rotfl:

I can see the magnet design - I love it!

How do you make this into a magnet? Can you buy magnetic paper that goes through a printer?

Hi Terapin

Yes you can buy magnetic paper and it didn't go through my printer however it went through my uncles. I think thats because mine is just a bog standard printer with no frills.

Then just cut them out. I transfered mine into a presentation to save paper that way you can print a couple on one page unless you want really big ones.

You can buy the magnetic ink jet paper (this is what I did) or you can print and then use self adhesive magnets and laminate.

They've also got :dance3:The Cheesecake Factory:dance3:

DD Samantha works part time at the Cheesecake Factory. in Palo Alto as a DT, server and bartender. For those of you who don't know where to find one, here is there link. The link gives location and history, plus ways to order gift cards. I assume we will eat there for Mother's Day as Samantha often works on Sundays. http://www.thecheesecakefactory.com/#lobby

DH and I took the kids to the original one in Beverly Hills when we visited Los Angeles as it was my late sister Karen's favorite place. The restaurant was not far from where she lived on Los Feliz for quite a few years after college.

Very good point!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 We didn't make it to Mall of Millennia last time but its on the itinerary this time. I've never been to the Cheesecake Factory but I so want to:banana::banana:

The meals have always stuffed me so much that I have not had room for cheesecake. One day we will get there and just have dessert!

Glad you had such a good time.:cool1:

I like that. How would we get it bigger for a door magnet?

And how do I copy it with this Mac? I could copy with my pc, but haven't managed yet with this.:confused3:headache:

CHEESECAKE FACTORY!!!!! We went there for our anniversary in March. You get tons of food. If we'd know that we probably would have only gotten one entree. And the CHEESECAKE! I had the carmel crunch cheesecake. I think my favorite tshirt is now "EAT DESSERT FIRST!!!"

The meals have always stuffed me so much that I have not had room for cheesecake. One day we will get there and just have dessert!

That's a thought. :rolleyes1

:cutie:

Marilyn, I don't know anything about MAC;s so I've sent you a PM with a link to my photobucket account which you should be able to print or copy from.

If this doesn't work let me know.

Thanks for the copy of the photo. It isn't a link to your Photobucket account, but once I know how to copy I can get it in mine!!! It is bigger too.
