I know it's late in the game but we will be cruising as well! It will be myself and my husband's second cruise and our daughters (10, 10) first. DH and I were on the Magic in September of 2000 on a 7 night Caribbean cruise and I was newly pregnant with the girls. We hadn't purchased trip insurance (big mistake) and I was so sick the entire time (it's funny how morning sickness lasts 24/7)...it wasn't a trip I remember fondly. :) I know this time will be so much fun, I can't wait!

I'm a big Disney fan, practically grew up in Disneyland growing up in Southern California. We now live in New England so I haven't been back as much as I want to but since moving out here, have now been able to experience WDW a couple of times! And now the cruise! We are really looking forward to it. Maybe we'll see everyone on the ship!

Welcome aboard ttbell, so good to have you and your family sailing with us!! We are all going to have an AMAZING time!!! :woohoo:

This is the link to our Facebook group, please feel free to join us :thumbsup2

How strict are airlines with their max. allowance for checked baggage size and weight? If my bag is litterally just a few inches over the max. of 62 linear ", do you think I'd really have to pay the extra baggage fee? Really having an issue with my new suitcase, it's too small, got it to replace my correct size one that is broken. AT the store, it looked to me that it would be the same size, but at home it's much smaller. So I dragged up stairs and measured our BIG one that measures just a few inches over the maximum, Air Canada allows according to their website. :confused3

I'm sure that to a certain extent it depends on the person checking you in. That said, airlines are now using checked baggages (and even, depending on the airline, some carry-on baggage) as a revenue stream so I assume they are going to charge for any and everything they can.

I know what you mean about thinking a bag looks ok in the store and then getting it home and realizing it's small. The same thing happened to me with a rolling duffle recently. My suggestion would be to return the small bag (if possible) and get another of the "right size" (I have a feeling I know what size you're talking about... it's always seems to be the middle size of any three-piece nesting luggage set).

The other thing you can do is compare the cost of having an oversize bag to the cost of checking another bag. If it's less expensive to have an oversize bag I would probably go that way and hope that I don't have to pay it. If having an oversize bag is more expensive than checking another bag I would probably just pack another small bag and be done with it since it would not only possibly save you money in the end by potentially give you more room as well.

JustTJ I would like to request one of your DISigns, could you please let me know if this is possible. We will be sailing on the Dream Sept 11!

Thanks!

:woohoo:HELLO ALL!:woohoo: Long time no talk to... I'm the lucky guy getting married:bride: to Shannon1984 on the cruise and we could not be more excited!!:banana:Allot of new faces!, Sorry I have been gone so long..Looks like everyone is doing well, TJ & David I am really looking forward to meeting you guys in person along with everyone else. And I didn't know if anyone knew, BUT did you know this is only 13 days away? WOO HOO!!! And TJ, I dunno if it would help, but if you want to ship your bag to Cleveland I can drive it down for you (That might defeat the purpose but you never know). Oh, and were probably not going to make it to the meet at 3:00 because we will be signing our official papers at that time, but I hope I get to meet you all afterwards! I will see ya'll soon!!!!

Airlines rely on those baggage fees for revenue, so I would not expect anyone to let an extra inch or pound slide by. That takes more than pixie dust these days!! HA!

Try rolling your garments to fit them into a smaller bag -- I can fit SO much more that way! I've even started rolling things in my dresser drawers and have a lot more room.

Good luck ... baggage fees and security hassles are one huge reason why we refuse to fly unless absolutely necessary.

And a very HAPPY TUESDAY to one and all out there!:cool1::thumbsup2
Like GetGlowing we try to avoid flying as much as possible too. DW and I haven't flown for so long now we don't even know what the regulations are now. Or I could say we haven't flown for so long now that the last time we did there were still propellers on the plane!!!:lmao: Thank you ladies and gentlemen the balance of my performance will be in the main dining room later!!! Seriously though, not so sure I would enjoy having some guy run his hands up and down all over my body!!! I'm ticklish!!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Oh well, enough of that foolinsness. I do hope ya'll have a great day today. Just 12 more days everyone!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Oh, thanks David (NOT) for reminding me of THAT! I've been told the Canadian Airport security measures are just slightly different then the U.S. And IF I am chosen for an EXTRA check from the regular walk through the metal detector, I'll choose the Back Scatter X RAY over the pat down! I've thought about this way more than I should have months ago, and had actually pushed it to the far receces of my mind. THANK YOU for bringing it back to the forefront. I guess that will help in deciding WHAT I'm going to where on plane day. NO METAL! :)

I would like the one with the black Mickey head and mickey/minnie as sailors, I like to have both to do Mickey for boys, and Minnie for girls. Personalize it with:
Disney Dream, Sept 11-15 2011

Mickeys:

Ruben
Victor
Aidan
Dad

Minnies:

Aleeza
Valeria
Mom

if possible underneath The Hernandez Family Vacation

Oh..and I went to the dentist today and they gave me something to feel really good and I happened to call Ragdoll at the time....Dude... Just stay Cool. LOL

Isn't Ragdoll your future MIL??? Gotta like a guy who calls his future MIL

Sort of makes you want to write "hi there" on your stomach doesn't it? :rotfl:

Do you really think the people who have to watch those machines enjoy it? I mean, would you want to see the majority of the people at the airport without their clothes? No thanks!

It's the lesser of two evils David, the lesser of two evils as far as I"m concerned. (remember I've THOUGHT about this for months Wayyyyyy back) LOL:thumbsup2
Frankly, I'm more concerned right now with weather or not my luggage will make it through for free :), and where the heck my garment bag disappeared to. Ya know, come to think of it, since DD20 moved out the beginning of the month, a LOT of things have disappeared :rolleyes1
