Sept. 11, 2011 It's never too early to Dream

Welcome, GetGlowing! :yay:

This will be my 2nd cruise and DH's 1st too. I took my older kids on the Magic in Sept 2002 and had a blast! We can't wait to cruise again!

Have you considered doing a vow renewal or something like that on the ship to celebrate your 20th?

Thanks for the welcomes Shannon & Clarabel!

I saw that vow renewals are offered, but then saw the price  so no, that won't be happening.

Welcome, GetGlowing! I'm glad that you'll be joining us!! What part of TN are you from? My DH has lots of family in Maryville.

We're in the far eastern corner of Tennessee. It's about 25 miles to either the N.C. or Va. border from here. We're right on I-26. It's a couple hours east of Maryville.

I see out group is growing. Welcome to all the new kids:cheer2:

Today is Katy's 19th Bday. She is my baby and now she has grown so fast. Where does the time go?
We are headed out to celebrate. Hope your all enjoying your summer.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your DD!!
My oldest turned 19 last week, we have YET to celebrate with her! She is ALWAYS out with friends as according to her, they are her family too, hmmmmmmm. Being my first, I wonder if most 19 year old girls are like this? I call my first two my Guinea Pig Kids :) I learn from them, and don't make the same mistakes parenting my younger two! My baby just turned 7!

You'll have to let me know what you did to celebrate. Next weekend my DD is staying home, so we'll do something then, but can't decide if we should just make a nice meal at home with a birthday cake, or take her out for a nice dinner. :)

Both of my girls like to hang with their friends but to be honest they are really close to us. We are thankful and lucky. They don't mind hanging out with us. Now when they were younger not so much.:rolleyes1 She lives with her boyfriend though.
Guess he's someone close to being a finance'? See after we all went to lunch as a big group. We then went and dropped her off. He boyfriend said he needed my DH to take him to get part for his car but really we went to see his friend who is a jeweler. He bought her a promise ring. I know, how long since anyone has heard of them right? But he said he was thinking of proposing on the cruise but wants her to know how much he loves her and that he wants to promise her that he is all her's. So sweet. They have been dating over three years so it's ok even though she is young I know he has no big plans to get married anytime too soon.:thumbsup2

He's taking her to dinner and giving it to her.

Just popping on to say a really quick Hello. Lots of guests expected any minute. We will have a total of 10 kids at my house shortly for lunch and then an amazing craft. That will help the rest of the day go by quickly (and today I actually want it to), but it will be a Zoo here for a while.

Pixiedustmom, my daughter considers me her best friend when she's upset or not feeling well, but other than that, it's hard to pin her down anymore to spend time with. I have to schedule an appointment with her LOL
Anyways, I hope everyone else's week has started off ok! :)

Welcome All,
Sorry not been around, guess I got overcome  booking the cruise
to much :dance3::dance3::dance3: then off to San Fran. for a long weekend with my Brother and some way to cool temps for me, fly out it was 113, got there was 64  Now back to the 110+ and in :cloud9:

Went to a AAA Disney travel event to see what they have to offer for 2011 cruises, as of now, they don't have any member benefits other then they will be appx $50.00 for insdie & $100.00 for outside and higher, so I stay with who I'm book with now, and will see later, but did pick up the 2011 cruise book which has the Dream layout in it, so was looking and the room I got is 1 of 2 I found at the rear of the ship that is an inside.

I know it early but, what hotel/resort have/would you stay in near the port, as I plan on flying out Friday night redeye and drive to port Sat. and check out Cocoa Beach, Ron Jon's and hope to stop by and see Shirley at The Perfect Gift, I see most the rooms around same the cost, add $20.00 for the 2 room hot tub suite, may do that before doing the inside room on the ship

I haven't thought too much about our travel plans for this cruise. I don't know if we are going to do a 24 hour drive again from home or fly instead (I'd prefer to fly really). But after we surprise my mom at Christmas, with the cruise, then we can all discuss and make that important decision!
This fall we are staying at Country Inn and Suites Pre Cruise. I've heard lots about it, and actually there are quite a few from our Meets board that are staying there too, that same night. I got a fabulous Priceline deal on that room ($49.00) so if we like that this fall, I'll try for that again for this Dream Cruise. I definately want to be in the port area at least by the night before, but deciding where to fly from too is a huge headache for us! We will never fly out of Canada, unless it's offered to us FREE, and since that will never happen, our most likely airport then is Syracuse. But I've now heard lots of talk about allegiant air too, and their amazing deals on flights. But flying with them likely means coming in more than a day early and then having to leave a day or two AFTER the cruise. So I'd have to factor in some extra Hotel costs to see if it's really worth flying with them then.

I don't know, FLY or DRIVE? Lots of time to decide.

For our upcoming cruise, we actually have the travel plans laid out, and amazingly we will have NO hotel costs on the way there or home again! I have an Aunt in NJ, and a new friend from This years cruise meets board has invited us to stay with her family for one night. I wouldn't ask for that for next year though, unless they enjoy our company :)
If you had to drive that far (24 hours) to get to your destination, would you choose to drive it, or fly it? and how many times in a row would you drive it if you chose to drive each time? :)

Well, how is everyone this fine Saturday morning. I have been working way too much and way too hard at work. It's now gotten in the way of my posting here on the DIS board.:headache::headache: I'm seriously thinking of semi-retiring in Jan 2011. I'll work part time at the printing company where I am workin now...........and the other days I have off, just sit back and relax.
NOT!!!! DW has already told me she will have a list longer then my arm of things she wants me to do around the ol' homestead.:scared1::scared1::scared1: It........never..........ends!!!

I have let ya'll know before where DW and I like to stay before we cruise:cool1:, and that is what we will do for this one to. We live just about 80 to 90 miles from WDW. So we take a day or two off before the cruise and drive over to Disney World and stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort. (Starting our Caribbean cruise early.) Then we check out the day of boarding and drive over to the port.............arriving there by 10:00am............so we can expierence the Disney terminal, look around, and see our ship we are about to sail on. Get plenty of pictures and so on. I can't wait to see what the new Disney Cruise Line Terminal looks like.

Well, guys, I have a ton of things to do today. I hope everyone is enjoying the week-end. I'll talk to ya'll again real soon!!!:yay::yay:

Just stopping by to say "hi" to everyone. :wave2:

TJ, fly or drive is a no brainer for me. FLY! I can't begin to imagine the torture of driving for 24 hrs.:scared1:

I can Hardly wait till this Christmas! Once my mother is given this gift of THIS cruise, then she too will be on this board! Oh, and perhaps her BF will be too. I'm not sure how computer chatty he is, but I'm sure he'll pop on just to say hi at least once! He KNOWS about this cruise and that he and my mom are going on it, but he is forbidden to discuss it AT ALL till She has the surprise at Christmas time!

I think he might also be planning on driving down, which actually surprises me, but hey, I think the driving there is a vacation within itself, it's SO relaxing! (to me anyway) It's the drive home that is UNBEARABLE!

Tuesday is DS12's 13th Birthday!!! We were planning on going to "CALYPSO WATER PARK" here just outside of Ottawa. It's brand new this summer and I've heard it's similar to a Disney Water Park. It's expensive though (though probably not as much as Disney Water Parks), but we have tickets from Air Miles reward miles.
However, the forecast is now indicating an 80% chance of Thunder and Lightening showers on Tuesday. Hmmmmm, not sure what to do. Last Wednesday there was the exact same forecast for the day, and it only rained lightly for about 5 minutes in the entire day! Monday's Forecast is Perfect, BUT thats a STAT Holiday here, which means, that park will be insanely busy.
We've got to make a decision though. I'm tired of making these kinds of decisions though, I'm flat out exhausted, maybe thats why. I think I will leave this decision up to DH, Who by the way, just finished washing the floors!! THats a miracle! :) (A miracle because it's something I ASKED him to do) :)

Well, I was up late last night for as of Midnight last night, I am officially at the 90 day mark for this falls Magic Cruise. So I began trying to book Palo and an excursion at CC. (that last one was a spur of the moment impulse last night). I didn't get any of the Palo's I wanted, but did get Palo, and was able to book my friends first choice of dinner under our name (DH and I aren't doing dinner, so that was up for grabs. My friend is a 1st time cruiser so she wouldn't be able to book till 75 days out). But now since I couldn't get Brunch on the day our DIS group is having Palo Brunch, I figured now, I just might like to do dinner, but am not picky about what night. So I think I will have said friend, book me her slot for whenever, when she's able to book. CONFUSING? It was all just so last night in the minutes after midnight!

It makes me wonder if things will be this crazy on line at the 90 day marks for OUR Cruise? What do you all hope to book on the Dream? Am I correct in understanding that Palo Won't be on the Dream? It'll just be Remy? I hear Remy is going to be MUCH more expensive than Palo is. Have any of you heard anything official about that?

Judy I just checked the Disney Cruise Line website and Palo is going to be on the Dream, along with Remy's. I haven't heard anything of price on either, but DW and I are hoping we can get reservations for both.

The Dream sure is coming together pretty fast now. I'm sure it won't be much longer before they start the sea trails. I saw some where on here that they were testing all 5 engines already getting them in synic. I am anxious to see photo's and video's of her from people who have booked the maiden voyage. DW and I seriously considered booking the maiden voyage, but it just didn't work out for us with work and all. (Say now that I probably will be semi-retired in January.....................maybe I could go by myself!!! Please, please, please don't tell DW I even thought of doing that!!!!! She would hurt me sooooooooooooooooo bad!!!!!):scared1::scared1::scared1::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

As far as your fly or drive question you asked earlier Judy, like Ragdoll I think we would probably fly. Neither DW or I are very good fliers. We do like the feel of the road under us. But to drive for 24 hours:confused3 I don't know.

Well, DW tells me it's time for me to par take my turn on the ol' torture machine!!! I'm starting to feel alittle:sick: :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Hope everyone has a GREAT Sunday!!!

Thats awesome about Palo's being on the Dream!! I can wait for my Palo dinner then, next year!
I earlier today showed my DH the Palo dinner menu and the Captain's Gala dinner menu. He chose the Captain's Gala menu! Great,,,,, of the 4 main courses, there is only ONE I can eat. But at least its one that I'm sure I will enjoy! DH loves Lobster, but we NEVER have it here, as I can't eat seafood.
He can sit on the other side of the table from me for that meal! :thumbsup2

It's AUGUST, Actually AUGUST!! All the back to school supplies are in the stores now and fill the first many pages of the local flyers now! I actually bought my two youngest boys their lunch boxes yesterday! I've never bought this early before! But of the kind I prefer to pack their lunches in (I insist that they have the upright lunch bags rather than the kind that lie on their ends for transport, thus tipping everything inside onto the sides, Yes I'm picky , I know). And of the kind I prefer, it would seem lots of other moms prefer it too, as that kind were few and far between to be found on Walmarts sheleves yesterday! Lots of empty boxes that they WERE in. So I grabbed a couple of the very last ones they had.
I have a 7 year old and in two days a 13 yr old. So to get something I figured each would go for, I got one PLAIN lunch box/bag, whatever you call them, and one with a race car on the front. Thinking the 7 year old would go for the car bag, I STUPIDLY gave him a CHOICE!!!!! UGGGHHHHHH. Based on that response, you can guess what one he chose! And then my almost 13 year old made a face, saying he WON'T take a kiddy lunch box to school! UGGGHHH!

Just stopping by to say "hi" to everyone. :wave2:

Oh your a wimp mom!!:sad2: We mapquested the drive and it's only 18 hours. That means we will make it in 15 or 16. It's not that bad, We will save at least $1500 in airfare..:cool2:

And see, it's those kinds of $$$$$ figures that make my DH say DRIVE!!!

If we do drive, that will be the 3 such trip on our van. DH isn't big on that, but still considering driving is better on the pocket book than flying.

So Shannon, are you considering driving? :)

I wished I lived close enough to drive. But when I looked to see how long it says 36 hours and will that just isn't going to happen.:sad2: I wouldn't mind doing it but the rest of the bunch have no desires to do it and with a 3 year old at that time may not be so great either.;)

So we shall fly, but I am waiting for the dates and good prices. I got lucky last Dec. on SW it was like $300 RT for 2. Wonder what I will find this time. I hope SW does a Birthday celebration sale like they did this time. If so I will get a better deal. :thumbsup2
