Does anyone know anything about sepsis?
My aunt is in the hospital right now having emergency surgery. My dad is there right now, and just called us after talking to an intern. Apparently she has sepsis, fluid on her heart, and an enlarged liver. She's in surgery to have a tube placed to take the fluid off of her heart. It doesn't sound good.
I've looked on Wikipedia, but I am just getting confused. We don't have much info, since by the time my dad got to the hospital, the doctor was already in the OR, and the intern didn't offer much info.
We are all a little worried that my aunt won't make it. Does sepsis usually turn into septic shock?
