Sep. 7, 2015 on the Dream

I upgraded because I realized that I will probably be stuck in the room an hour or two each afternoon for naps and I wanted access to the outside. We could afford it. No special deals. :sad2: But the prices were what I expected.

Not sure why everyone else is upgrading but we upgraded because I've been working ALOT of overtime and wanting to make our vacation a little more special!!! :) These 72 hour weeks will be all worth it in September!!!!

I worked A LOT of OT, too......mostly night shifts. That is how we were able to add 5 days at the resorts/parks:mickeybar. I wanted it to be super special because we never do big vacations. I am afraid this may spoil us, though.....I am already planning to book on the ship.

I'm wanting to book onboard too!!!! :)

Hey Gang,

I have a question about cabin switching which it seems is happening. Are these price drops that are allowing this or something else? Just curious for you seasoned Disney cruisers, do the prices tend to go down at all? I thought being in September (supposedly off season) it would be less expensive?
We just switched our cabin but are in the same category. Same price but a better (larger) balcony.

I read on a thread that the prices are cheapest when they are released, and then slowly rise. When it gets close to the sail date prices may drop again. I know we originally booked on ocean view (the one with 2 large portholes) back in July when the schedule was released. We had to cancel d/t my husbands work, but then rebooked in January after we confirmed we could go. The rooms all seemed to be about $150 more than in July.

I'm not switching cabins at all! We got exactly the room I wanted:) We are booked in a 7A Navigators Verandah room. On the Dream they are just like the other balconies, but often have partially obstructed views. Stateroom reports say the view from ours is very minimally obstructed. I guess we will see. I couldn't pass it up though for only $35 more than an ocean view!

I'm planning on booking a dummy cruise on board too! We are thinking Alaska summer of 2017 !!

I've heard of people on the DIS going to Home Depot paint department, and getting lime green paint swatches in the shape of Mickey heads. Then laminate them and hang them on your bag. It's a DIS signal :) I haven't read anything about that in a while, but we could all do something like that. Then we might notice each other when we pass by or stand in line by each other at the MK that night. I'm always shocked at how small the world really is!

All this talk of ressies and I feel left out lol. Are we the only ones not doing Disney pre/post cruise? Disney is pretty much all we've done in Florida, so this time it is between DC/Sea World and Universal. Still not decided enough to try to book anything. Though hubby does have hotels booked pre and post, just not on site anywhere. We are using Hilton points (he travels a lot for work).

Tomorrow is 180 days according to my ticker!

Took dd to the ortho this morning for her once every 6 months checkup on her retainer. Afterwards when we went to schedule her 6 month visit, they said, how about the second week of September? I was like, NOPE! She looked at me funny and I told her we would be on a CRUISE! Woo hoo!

When you get time I need another Disney Character for Kelsey please. Thank You

We will be closing the park down with you that night! PM EMH are our favorite!!! Jan 2014 the kids and I got on Splash at 12:55am. It was 29 degrees out that night, BRRRRR!! I have always wanted to do an early breakfast pre park opening, but I am just not a morning person, and neither are the kiddos. We are lucky to make it to the parks by noon :)

We are doing pre and post cruise, to make the most of our flight down. We are DVC so it's easy to just add a couple nights without killing the budget. Also the kids and I will have AP.

Even if you aren't going into the parks, but staying on property you could do a resort tour. The monorail resorts are fun to do. Have dinner at one of them, watch the water parade, and watch wishes from outside of the park. The TTC has some beautiful views. I've always wanted to be on the ferry during Wishes.

When you get time I need another character for Carly besides Pluto. Thank You

Am I reading this right? Is Pirates of the Caribbean really closed for 4 months and DURING our trip?

Phew... just finished reading thru all 26 pages! What a fun group! Haven't made reservations just yet - hoping to do so in a few weeks. Still trying to work out the details. Plans keep changing, but I think we've finally figured out what we're doing. We're cruisin' on the Dream - 9/7:yay:

We homeschool - but I'd like to think that I'm a super cool mom anyways. ;) No homework on this vacation!!!

My kiddos are Alex (14 when we cruise), Amanda 12, Jack 9, and Matthew 3. I'm afraid I'll be a bit of a party pooper when it comes to FE participation. It looks like a ton of fun, but I just don't see it being a good fit for us this time around. Hubby cruised many, many years ago. But for the rest of us, this is a first!

Hubby and I will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary during the cruise! We haven't been on a family vacation in a few years. Originally we thought of taking a 2 week trip to Orlando to visit WDW (been a few times before) and Universal (never been). But, the little guy isn't quite 40" and I would really like to wait to do WDW again until he is 40". I just think it is more fun when we can all ride the rides together!

So... plan B. A Disney cruise followed by a few extra days in Orlando. Not sure what we'll do after the cruise. Maybe a day or two at Universal to check it out? Maybe a day at one of Disney's waterparks? Maybe just hang out poolside? That's what I'm trying to figure out. I'm also trying to figure out if we do cruise first or finish with the cruise. Ah, decisions, decisions! I'm just excited to be planning a trip!

:welcome: Welcome to the group! So excited to have another homeschool family on board! :teacher:

I agree with Melissa (Jasesmom)....we saved the cruise for last so we would have some relaxation time after the park madness :earsboy::earsboy::earsboy::earsboy:

:welcome:I hope all of your plans come together! Our youngest girl will be 3 years old when we cruise, too. Happy planning!

I am going to officially op out of the FE. I don't want to add any stress, since this is our first cruise.

This actually shows a shorter refurb than I had heard. I read several places that it would be a 6 month shutdown and they hoped to get it opened by the holiday season in November. The ride needs a major refurb!!! The last 3 trips we have ridden probably 10 times total and not once have we made it through the ride without getting stuck at the fire scene. There is always a huge back up of boats there. Also ever since they brought the DL boats to DW the boats are taking on water. People are actually getting wet on the ride.

:welcome: We have a lot in common, lol! This is our 15th anniversary trip also, even though we won't celebrate it until January. Our kids are about the same age as your oldest 2 also :goodvibes I would say to cruise after, so that you can relax after park days.
