This new product is out and is already recommended by Copperhill. The idea, as with most sensor cleaning products, sounds scary but some people I mostly trust (like Copperhill) say it works as well as claimed. This may be one I carry with me for daily use on trips.

sign me up... it's a great idea. unfortunately for Ross i suspect there will be copycat products soon. has copperhill actually tried it?

Copperhill now sells DustAid as part of their sensor cleaning tool set. Nicholas of Copperhill has this to say:
"Since discovering this product, my comprehensive dust drill is this: 1) SensorSweep my CCD once or twice a day; 2) Dust-Aid my CCD every 2 to 5 days; 3) wet clean my sensor every week or two. "

Of course, I do not endorse this product or any other, but I am going to buy a DustAid kit and see how it does. :)

You got to be kidding me???

Oh I forgot he SELLS cleaning products...

Does anyone really need to clean that often?

I do a dry(dusting) about once a month and wet as needed, and most of my shooting is on sports fields(specially baseball/softball). I cant imagine the sensor getting much dirtier shooting weddings and such.

What happened to good old fashioned soap and water??? :confused3

Who was it that was licking their lens a month or two ago... maybe if your tongue is long enough, you can just lick the sensor clean?

Why, that would be skr8pn, one of my fine associates here at work. :) I bet he would make a video of lens cleaning techniques if we asked nicely!

I don't know if I have become a dust magnet or what (mostly what, I suppose) but I cleaned the sensor before my last WDW trip and noticed a dust speck in a photo from the first afternoon! It's not bad (not enough to get me to clean it) but it is definitely there, in less than 24 hours.

I am usually careful to point the camera down when changing lenses and MK is not that dusty an environment but sometimes it doesn't take long to acquire some dust. When I am looking for a motion blur photo I often have to stop down to f/16 or more and that makes the spots more evident.

Ah well, enough about dust, I guess I'll just go take some photos and not worry about it. There's a full moon in two days, maybe I can photograph it over a lake this time (got rained out last month)

ah yes, the dis poster with the BBQ lens...hmm, wonder what brand of camera he has, I've never see the "taste factor" in any reviews come to think of it but that might put the pentax/nikon/canon/sony/etc wars to end once and for all ;)

Of course skr8pn has good taste, he chose Canon! ;) We're both going to WDW in September, I'll take some lens cleaning fluid in case we have to flavor our BBQ.

Power washer, not one of those el cheapo electric ones, gas powered...
