Our trip is in 28 days. 27 actually since we are driving down to Syracuse the day before. As we get closer to our trip I keep having this sense of IMPENDING DOOM. :teeth: I keep thinking some is going to happen like one of us is going to break a leg the day before we are about to leave or we'll all get stricken with food poisoning or maybe a blizzard will shut down the airport for days or the airline will suddenly go bankrupt etc etc etc.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who has these thoughts as their trip gets closer. I'm not the only obsessive nut here am I?

I think most of us have those same feelings. We always drive down and I get this serious fear that something is going to happen on the drive. But, every road trip we have taken has ended just fine!!

Oh, and if someone breaks a leg, just get them a wheel chair and push away!! :thumbsup2

I do the EXACT same thing! I am so afraid that someone will get sick or something will happen where we wil have to cancel the much anticiapted trip! Just Relax... everything will work out.

Well, I especially freak out because I have a little something called "The Jenkins Family Curse". Since I was a kid, 90% of the time that we went on vacation somewhere something bad happened. It finally culminated in my father dying while I was on vacation at my in-laws. I have traveled since then and haven't had a problem so maybe it went with my dad.

Anyhow, all that to say, just take a deep breath, think positive and everythign will be fine. The broken leg is manageable, the blizzard would suck but you wouldn't be there the entire trip. Most things that could happen are thingsyou can handle. Just hang in there and think about all the freaking fun you're going to have!!

Thanks for making me feel better everyone. :) I know everything is going to be fine (God willing, *knock wood*) and we'll be able to handle whatever happens. I just want to get going. Once we are on our way I'm sure I will relax. (I hope)

Oh please, this is my life! I worry about it every trip. Who is going to get sick, parents going to the hospital, or pass away. I do have to say that we planned 3 times to visit Gettysburg with no trip actually taking place thanks to family illness or other problems. It has become a joke "let's plan to go to Gettysburg if we really want to stay home". :rotfl2:

I guess what's got me a little paranoid is that my husband was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure and is undergoing tests for diabetes. Plus the kids are fighting colds and other minor ailments. I know everything is going to be fine but I still worry.

Oh I do the same thing. Living in New England I fear a huge snowstorm the day we are supposed to leave or someone getting really sick. This week a bad head cold has made its way through our house and everyone except DH has gotton it. I kept thinking if this was our vacation week, boy this would stink. Fevers, stuffy heads, tired, not much fun if we were on vaca.

Think positive, all you can do!

Try not to worry too much! We're going 11/28, and everything was great until my mom broke her foot last week! :scared1: She's 65, so it's even worse than for someone my age. I couldn't believe it, but she's supposed to be out of her boot in about 4 weeks (God willing). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all will be ok with her (and me and dd) so that we have a wonderful trip! :thumbsup2

On our last trip in 2005, my daughter had a bad cold when we were there. It didn't slow her down too much but I know she would have had more fun if she were feeling better. As for snowstorms, I live in Canada so I know all about those. :teeth: It's a 3 hour drive to the airport so I hope the weather behaves.

mdhkitten, I'll send you good vibes :goodvibes that your mom is going to be okay.

I also worry before a trip. We drove from OK in 2004, and were just fine, but here we are again, and I am worrying like crazy. I do have the trip insurance in case of an emergency, but I still worry. We arrive in 44 days and I worry non stop of what could happen. I think it is normal. We put so much time and money into planning these trips....

My 3 yd old DS fell and knocked out his front tooth. He also got a cold (I think he picked up in the emergency room when we were dealing with the tooth thing). Needless to say I was flipping out before we left...:worried: crying about how he looked with the gaping hole in his formerly huge bright smile, worried about if/how he would smile in the pictures, stressed about what/how he would eat without a front tooth, etc. etc.

Know what? Everything was FINE when we were there. A little triaminic, a little extra ice cream for the sore mouth, (a little red wine for mom :ssst: ) it was all good!

Don't worry, have a great vacation.
