Seniors Unite: Class of 2010 Thread

I know! My parents are so STRICT that it will be so nice to have some freedom!
I am sooo excited to be done with high school... to think this time next year I will be getting ready to go to college!

I thought about it and really looked into the program and it really seems like a great thing, but if I want possibly study medicine I decided not to pursue it.

Ah you guys are so lucky to be able to do the Career Start.
I would love to be able to, but my parents said I need to start college on time. They said taking a semester off my second or third year (especially with my AP credits helping out) to do the college program was fine! Yay!

^ That was another issue for me. My parents weren't completed on board with it.

Thats cool...I still don't know what I want to do and I need a year to get my head on straight. Like last year I was completely sure I was going to do Communications...but right now I have no clue. So I need a year off to know what I want to do and it has always been a dream of mine to work there.

My parents are like that...but idc. Im going to be an adult and Im going to make my own decisions and I need a year to off.

Then I think the Career Start is for you. I always wanted to do something with Medicine. Either become a Doctor or do research.

Yah, the Career Start sounds like the perfect opportunity to do so. I wish my parents would be chill like that. If I told them that, they would be "Okay bye then" and kick me out. But the College Program looks really good for what I want to major in (sports management) so I'm really looking forward to doing that. I too would love to work for Disney at some point.

No my parents arent cool with it...my dad is just in awe really because "Ive grown up so fast" and my mom is flipping out but its my decision and she was fighting with me saying how would I get down there? Ha-dur Im getting a job so I can go down. She never listens to me

Having a job is the key. I can understand where parents come from. It is the same thing when there kid goes off to college. It will happen with me next year especially if I attend a college out of state.

Yeah my mom wants me to go to a college that is 3 blocks from my house...I told her she must be crazy. If I go to college Im not going to commute unless I am not living with my parents and have my own place.

My parents have finally accepted that I'm going out of state and far for college. They have capped how far (aka not too happy about Colorado, but loving Minnesota) and I'm willing to compromise with them on it. Funny thing is...they aren't even paying for it. So I'm not sure why I'm listening to them, but you know...:confused3
They've finally gotten it that I hate it where I'm from and I want to get away and travel. So finally studying abroad and the College Program are becoming okay with them.
...I guess this is what I get for being the first born and wanting to see the world...

Yeah my parents dont understand how much I hate NJ right now...well I hate NYC more. If I could I would move to the Orlando area or San Diego. I can get used to the climate easily.

Yah. I live like 20-30 minutes outside of Chicago. I love the city, but I hate the suburbs. My parents tried forever to get me to look at a few colleges in Chicago saying all "You love Chicago, you said it all time. Why do you want to move so far from it? You can go to college there." But its too close to home for me. They finally accepted that. I actually just proposed the idea of NYU to them and got silence and a look between them. Hahah.
After Career Start are you gunna look into colleges in those areas?
