Hi All
Headed down to see Mickey this fall and last time we were there we were astonished :scared1: at the price of bottled water and beer. No big beer drinkers but we will be on vacation and would have to pay the $6 dollar a beer they charge there. We would only probably send a 12 pack.... and a case of water...

Is there a way to send it ahead? Can you send those sorts of things through the mail???

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I would not attempt it, even though I have no clue if its even possible. I would go to the store when I get there. Even if you were to get a cab, it would have to be cheaper than the cost of the shipping! That would enable you to get a few snacks etc from the store.

Have you looked into a grocery delivery service, like gardengrocers? Also, we picked up some water and soda at the Hess gas station by Magic Kingdom when we were there last time and it actually wasn't outrageous. It was a couple dollars more than a grocery store (I think maybe $5.99-$6.99 for a 24 case of water) but still way cheaper than $3.00/bottle in the parks/gift shop, and probably cheaper than trying to ship water.

I would find out the cost and even if it is possible to ship beer. I don't think you can mail anything alchohol through the regular mail. UPS, etc probabally has rules too. Plus the risk of damages....unless talking cans of beer.

I cannot imagine shipping costs, insurance costs and then the worry that it will even be there......that it would be just as cost effective to purchase the water/beer at a local grocery or even the gas station across from DownTown Disney.

Good luck.

The cost of shipping due to weight would be far more than $6 a beer at the resort!

Here is what I found about shipping beer through the US Postal Service:

"No unlicensed individual or business may ship beer or alcohol to any destination through the US Postal Service. In most states illegal sale or shipping of alcohol is a felony and can lead to jail time."

If you're renting a car, you could stop at a Target in Kissimmee, on the way to your hotel. We do, and save some pretty decent money. We get some beer, water, Pepsi (gotta have my Pepsi!) and snacks.

The Hess station across from Downtown Disney sells water and beer for a little more than you would pay at the grocery store. You can buy it there or use a grocery delivery service. Both would be cheaper than shipping the water. And as someone else already mentioned, it's illegal to ship alcohol even if it is just beer.

We rented a car for $40.00, and stopped at walmart. We dropped it off at the car care center, and their shuttle took us to the poly. It was very easy. We spent less doing it this way then it would have cost to have the water and alcohol delivered.

Both of the Hess gas stations - the one across the street from DTD and the one in front of the Boardwalk sell beer and water. Why not get it from there. You can take a DTD bus, get off at the second bus stop walk across the street and get what you need. We get a case of water and take it back to our hotel. Easy to do just take a duffle bag with you to carry it.

Plus remember if you are staying at a convention resort there may be an addtional package handing charge that Disney will charge you.

We have used Amy at wegoshop 3 times and had great service. She will deliver your groceries directly to the hotel. Very reasonable fees and you get the receit so you know how much was spent on the food/beverages. Just google wegoshow Orlando.

I know there are people who will make fun of me for this, but here goes... I always pack bottled water in our suitcases. There are 4 of us and we fly Southwest so we each take one suitcase (we could take 2 each, but there is no way I want to drag all that luggage around), and I put 6-8 bottles in each suitcase. I place the bottles near the interior of the suitcase and I've never had a problem with the bottles breaking and I look at it this way: the bottles take up room and weight that we will spend on purchases while in Disney. When we arrive at the hotel, I take out all the bottles and put a few in the fridge (or, when we stayed at a value in the soft-side cooler we brought along). It is always good to have that extra room when going home as the dirty clothes seem to somehow take up much more room than they did when they were clean!

Like you, we are not big drinkers, but after paying $6 each for several Bud Lights, we took a side trip to the Hess near Downtown Disney and took it back to our hotel in our bags. If we had planned ahead, I would have brought a backpack as someone has suggested because I felt a little foolish carrying it in the plastic Disney bags we had with us. Anyway, this works for us.

Hope this helps.

OBW the cheapest place to get a beer at Disney is at House of Blues $2.50 is what we paid last month and no that was not a happy hour price!

Another vote for Gardengrocer. We used them in May at OKW. They delivered our groceries and some beer as an add on. We even had a second delivery during the week for milk, fruit and such and were not charged a second delivery charge. Just notate in your online order anything that is not on their website and they will contact you. Enjoy :thumbsup2

If you are without a car, the Hess stations are fairly priced and easy to get to. When I am on a quickie trip garden grocer isn't worth the fee so I head to DTD on the bus, walk to Hess and Bring back a 12 pack of water and a 6 pack of beer. It all fits nicely in my beach bag so it is not an issue to carry back to the bus stop then to my room. If I am only going for a two or three day trip I also just put 2-4 water bottles in each suitcase in a ziplock bag...
