Sending purchases to resort???

During our July trip we used the purchase transfer option to send our purchases from the parks to our resort. We had one problem when something my DS wanted did not arrive for 2 days. I believe the problem was that we purchased the item in the afternoon so it took 2 days to get to the resort.

Does anyone know what time the purchases are picked up from DTD and the parks??

We are planning on doing some xmas shopping during our trip and want to send the packages back to the resort (DS will be with me).

We want to make sure we receive the packages before we have to leave for the plane.

I forgot what time the purchases are picked up, but Disney won't guarantee you'll get the package before 1 pm the next day (even if you make the cutoff time) so they recommend not sending it if you're leaving the next day.

Im not worried about the next day but rather 2 days?? Say if we purchased something Saturday afternoon would we be able to pick it by Monday 1pm??

We only have a short trip planned so we are trying to figure out the best way to purchase items at DTD with my DS (age 11) unaware.

If you're not sure you will get them on time, don't want to lug them home on the airplane and they are a surprise, have you considered mailing them home (maybe to a neighbor...or if you're having your mail held, to yourself)? This might be an option if they can't guarantee delivery. This is our plan to decrease our load and surprise our son.
