So I have read thru lots of reviews and sounds like it can be hit or miss at wdw eateries...

Surprisingly I have never read about anyone who had a horrible meal sending it back.... wouldn't you send back something at an outside restaurant if it was horrible? Or expect it taken off the bill??

I don't mean just an OK meal I mean a horrible one.. like the CRT review I just read with beef jerky instead of tenderloin and petrified potatoes...

Anyone ever sent back a horrible meal at the world???.

I have sent back an overcooked steak at Ca Grill. I've also complained about my cold entree at Kouzzina. In 21 vacations, that's been it.

I wouldn't complain or send back anything that I just didn't like. However, I do expect my order to be prepared properly.

Thanks Pakey!!
I have been surprised by some horrible reviews and it seems like folks just ate what they could and that was it...
I agree I would not send anything back if it was just a matter of taste... I am talking about some reviews that sounded totally inedible.

:wizard: We sent back fried chicken from Whispering Canyon that was raw inside. The waiter really acted like he could have cared less....no apology, just the same plate back to us with different chicken.

I guess we are a captive audience ....

I actually sent an overcooked stead back at Chefs de France... TWICE in the same meal. That was the first time I ever had to do that at WDW. :sad2:

Just yesterday I sent back a bad piece of fish at The Wave. It was reddish-purple in the middle (it should have been white) and my knife could barely cut it - I think I received the bloodline.

I wouldn't send something back unless I couldn't actually eat it, like a very undercooked piece of steak. But that fish yesterday was inedible and really marred my experience there.

I had to send back 2 strip steaks at Le Cellier last year. I generally use a lot of salt but these were just horrible. DD and I both bit into them and were looking at each other waiting for a reaction. It was like they had a salt crust. And I've never had issues with salty food at Le Cellier even though this seems like a frequent complaint among other diners. The server was wonderful and they prepared 2 new steaks for us. In dozens of meals at WDW, this was the one and only time I had to send food back (though I would have loved to send back some food at 'Ohana last year if our server had ever bother to reappear! I should have complained to the manager. All our food was brought out in a span of about 5 minutes, before we even got drinks. And the meat was all dry and charred. The bread pudding was the only saving grace of the meal.)

I think with prices inching up and a set mandatory tip I will be paying more attention and not accepting just o.k. food or service on our upcoming trip.

This past Dec I was lucky enough to get two Le Cellier ADRs (one for lunch early the trip and one for dinner a few days later). When I went there for lunch, that lunch filet and risotto was so salty that there was just no way I could eat it. It was like they had spilled a whole box of salt on it. I pushed it around for a few minutes, then just pushed the bowl to the other side of the table. It took forever for the waitress to notice. She didn't say a word about only one or two bites being missing. She just scooped it up and said she'd be right back with the dessert menu.:rotfl: I should have insisted on getting something else, but didn't. Instead on my way out, I stopped and had them cancel my dinner ADR for a few nights later. When they asked why, I told them my steak and risotto was so salty it was inedible and my waitress didn't even care enough to ask why I'd barely touched my meal.:sad2:

I didn't have to send anything back last time we were there, but *I* would.

The problem is if DH is there, he will not send food back. Part of it is he doesn't want to stand out (this is why I think I will not do a food review b/c he would die if I too pictures). I kind of understand how he feels, it really ruins the meal for me if I have to confront someone in the middle of my experience (I could see how that could be very hard in CRT). The next reason is that he believes that the cook/waiter will then spit in the food, step on it, etc. to get back for being picky.

I have sent things back at outside restaurants when I was a vegetarian b/c they had meat (usually bacon) on them (which wasn't on the menu). DH hated it.

I hope that people who give awful food reviews here at least complain to the restaurant itself after the meal (even if they don't want to be comped).

on my recent trip, i sent back 2 overcooked steaks at the ca grill--never before had i had a bad meal there. i was so hungry, and when the 3rd came and it was a piecy gummy cut... i gave up and ate my sides. we left there and i got a pizza at gasparilla's.

So far, I haven't sent anything back, but I certainly would if it weren't cooked right or didn't taste good.

A few years ago we sent back two filets at Le Cellier that were overcooked. Our server, Patrick, brought us two new filets cooked to order (medium rare) with no problems. We ate at Le Cellier this March and should have sent our entrees back when they were served to us before we were half finished with our appetizers. We didn't send them back because we were afraid that they would just put them under the hear lamp. The tables at Le Cellier are quite small so it made for an uncomfortable dining experience. We also felt rushed because the entrees were there getting cold. In retrospect maybe we should have sent them back.
We've never been served a meal in WDW that was horrible or inedible.

I sent back a meal at Hollywood Brown Derby because it tasted like dirt. Not "earthy"; like dirt. I let them know that I didn't like it, but that it seemed to be prepared perfectly in terms of doneness and presentation. It just didn't taste good at all to me. They were more than happy to replace it with another entrée. Or at least they seemed to be happy to do so. I give them high marks for replacing something that looked good to me on paper but didn't measure up when I got it.

Last year when I ate at Artist Point my risotto was crunchy. I shared this with the waitress who said, "Really, I doubt it no one else complained!" I smiled and said well I am complaining now, it crunches which means the rice is not cooked all the way through, please let them know it is undercooked in the kitchen and I will wait for a new plate. She seemed put out, but hey that's what was wrong, that is what I ordered, and what I wanted to eat. It was early so I knew there was time to fix it. When I got my new plate of risotto it was excellent. I don't know if she was having a bad day or what, but all I wanted was cooked risotto! I didn't get anything comped nor did I expect that, just wanted an edible meal!

The way I figure it, say something when it happens and let them fix it rather than complain about it later.

I've sent back a meal at the Sci Fi.

we did too....and I'll never go back there again. (it used to be one of my favs) But between the crappy food and the even crappier server we had, I'm staying away from there. We had a server that left all the dirty dishes from the previous diners (in the seats in front of us)...so we stared at that the entire time. Then, when he brought the bill, he said , "shall I charge the tip to your room ?". Ummmm, no....I'll take care of that one !!! :goodvibes It ruined my whole experience at SciFi and will never do it again.

Yuck.. that would not be pleasant....

The only meal I ever returned was at lunch at the Wave in January. I ordered the bison burger and took one bite. It tasted terrible. I was just going to not say anything and eat the accompanying potatoes. It was then that I found the human hair baked into the potatoes. I quietly told our waitress and she allowed me to order one of their salads. It was not good either. Never got an apology and as we were leaving, I overheard another table return their drinks because they had been served in dirty glasses. I will not be returning.
