I talked to Dave on FB last night after I saw it too. Today is his wife's birthday to boot. From the 1st time I read the link in his signature I thought, wow, what a family. Praying that Dave and his family can heal from this loss and God will show them a positive why this happened.

Thank you everyone. We've just been in shock since hearing the news yesterday afternoon. After four 1/2 years, her biological parents have filed paperwork to take her back. Russian law provides rights to the bio parents regarding orphans they gave up, in the event the child is being adopted by someone else...they have to approve of the adoption. Mindy's parents decided to begin visiting her in the orphanage and have now filed papers to take that further. So, we are out.

If we were part of God's plan to reunite her with her family, I'm ok with that. When she turned 4 in January and was going to be institutionalized for life, she came into our lives and we knew we needed to save her from that fate. Even though this isn't ending the way we wanted, we did accomplish the most important goal. We just have to have faith that she is going to a good home and will be loved. Unfortunately, we'll never know for sure; but that's where the faith comes in!

Now, we need to figure out what God's plans for us are. I think another child is in our hearts, but we'll see. We love this one so much, and it's so hard to lose her after 7 months.

You never know how God is using you. Mindy's families circumstances must have changed where they now can give her the love and care she needs. It is nice to know they didn't forget all about her.

Your outlook on this entire situation should be an inspiration to us all. So glad you were there and willing to be a part of God's grand plan no matter the outcome. You may never know the full iimpact you and your family had on Mindy's life....and her family's life as well.

Dave, I know that this is a disappointing situation, and there really is nothing that can be said to take away the hurt and loss.

So, I will just suggest that you read and meditate on Proverbs 3:5-6. I have a little plaque that I keep on my desk with this verse. I read it often when life takes an unexpected twist.

And, life is full of unexpected twists.
