Has anyone ever sold your kids clothes to them?

I bought a few shirts off of that website the other day, got some good deals... and they send me a complimentary bag that you fill up with kids clothes you want to consign sell and the postage is already paid for.
My worries - 1. If you send items they decide not to accept, they will not send them back... so that's a big loss! and 2. You have no idea what you might make off of them.. I've seen some examples on their site and some items the person only made like .60 cents off of something!! And you have to send nice, name brand items...!!! :confused3

Just wondering if anyone has tried selling with them and what kind of feedback you have if so.
I may just stick with buying from them... I am just not sure about their selling policies.

You have to make sure that it is clean, stain free and have no signs of wear.

I sent in a bag stuffed and only got $17.00, I just send the stuff that I don't feel like keeping or sell on ebay. Out of 3 stuffed bags I only got maybe $50 total. Is it worth it? I would say it depends on what your excepting to receive. 75% of my stuff was Gymboree also... I think they want it washed/dryed but no wash wear...

I would say try it once and see if you like it but if you want to make tons I don't see that happening. :)

I hadn't heard of this site before your post so I hopped over there and spent $40. I am getting things ready for a big consignment sale held in my area in March so I may send a few things to thred up and see how it goes. One tip I received from doing the consignment sales is to iron the clothes to give them a like new look. Not sure if it will help since you have to mail in the items but worth a try.

Don't do it!!! Google "Thred-Up Complaints" and you will see a HUGE list of people who are dissatisfied. I personally didn't look them up and sent in a big pile of nearly new, expensive clothes, and they accepted 4 pieces, giving me a total of $8. Where did the other stuff go . . . a few days later, I saw it listed on Thred-Up, despite the fact that they hadn't paid me for it!

Wow. Thanks. I have decided against it. I threw the bag away. I can usually make over $100 at our local consignment sale in March... I would kick myself if I sent all of that to them and only made $8!!!

I had never heard of Thred Up until the Dis. I decided to give it a try. I mailed a bag with 10 items and received $15, which I didn't think was too bad. It evened itself out. One Gap shirt I received $0.80 for, but then I received $5 for a pair of Gymboree shoes. Normally when I sell on Craigslist, I average $1-0.50 per item (I sell in large lots). I figured it was worth it for not having to deal with all the garbage I get on CL.

So I sent in a second bag with nicer items. The bag had a Strausburg dress and a beautiful holiday dress new with tags. I only received $2 for those dresses. I was expecting to make $40+ from that bag and made $23. I am kicking myself for sending in such nice items. I would have rather given them to friends and family.

That was my final bag to them.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them, but I won't sell to them again. I sent two (very full) bags in at the same time. They were stuffed with Janie & Jack, Gap, and some Gymboree. They also had 5 pairs of Stride Rite shoes that looked brand new-- I was paid $50 total. Not what I expected; I made sure to send things that were in excellent condition and still the payout for nice jeans- $0.80, Stride Rite shoes - $2.00. Not for me.

Wish I had read this before I sent them a bag filled with Hanna, Gap an Gymboree. The only upside is that I sent them items that were not in sets. I kept sets to sell on ebay. Probably going to kick myself. Good to know :(

Thanks for the warning. I will stick with ebay for my nicest items. I love the big spring and fall consignment sales but they take a lot of work to prepare.
