The kids' Wii seems to have bit the dust and they've been asking to upgrade to a new Xbox for Christmas.

My question is what is the best thing to do with the Wii games we own? Is it a better deal to sell them on eBay or go to some place like Gamestop and trade them in for Xbox games? Any other suggestions?

You'll do better overall selling on eBay or similar, most likely. That said, I would not expect to get a ton of money from Wii games.

Try craigslist or Facebook yard sale listing firsts before ebay. Less fees and hassle

I would research what they're going for on ebay. My DH likes to play Role Playing games. He has played different systems for years and some of the older hard to get games he's actually made over $100 on (much more than he paid. If you have a local craigs list, I like to use them because they don't charge a fee and you can deal face to face with the transaction.

You also may want to bundle it as a package for all the items and post it on a local Facebook sell page. That is what I would do. Them if no one bought it I would offer the items separately.

Honestly I would be surprised if you could get more than $5-10 per game for wii, unless it is a Zelda game. They are mostly great towards kids rather than serious gamers and are not in demand.

The Mario ones sell well. I only know b/c I am always looking for them for my boys used. :)

Definitely search sold listings for each game on ebay first. I haven't sold wii games but just sold many DS games that I couldn't get anyone to buy on facebook yard sale for $2 each, but I got $4.25-$15 for each on ebay!
Trade value is almost always terrible, but you could take them in to ask; Amazon also does trade I believe - but I think it was like .80- $2.00 for the games I checked.
Do they have friends with wii and xbox that may like to trade (or lend) the friends' xbox games for your kids' wii games?
ETA - Don't throw your broken console out - sell it as is! You'd be surprised what people will buy. Just make sure you list the problems clearly, and again, research sold listings on ebay for non-working wii consoles to get a price point (though I would use craigslist to sell as it would cost a lot to ship.)
