Here is the problem.. DW and I want to get points at SSR but don't want to keep the 200 at Vero ... I already asked DVC and we cant just do a swap and pay the difference..

Does anyone have any suggestions or want to add on at Vero??

Thanks in advance

Dave

We purchase actual real estate so "swapping" isn't possible. (You can't swap your house for another.) All you can do is find a buyer for your current points and then purchase new ones. You may want to contact The Timeshare Store and other resellers to get an idea of what your costs will be.

I'd list quickly...that way you can purchase SSR sooner...:):)

Gee, I'd think this through.....

As Pam posted, you can't swap. So you can list through a broker or try and do it on your own cheaper.

A broker is going to hit you with a big commission fee. I've never sold, but I understand it is in the 12% range.

SSR is ultimately going to be a big place, bigger than OKW (according to DVC plans). Unless you are looking at holidays, prime time, or Grand Viillas, the larger resorts are the easiest to get into at 7 months.

Now I imagine that SSR is going to be packed after it opens, but I suspect the novelty will wear off after awhile (JMHO), and that 7 month bookings will not be terribly hard to come by, depending upon the season and the accommodations.

I wouldn't jump to unload your VB points at a depressed price (basis the current resale market), and pay a hefty broker's commission just to own at SSR at this point, unless you are absolutely in love with it.

Good luck with your decision!

Just realize that you can expect to sell VB for $65 pp or less plus a commission if you use a broker to sell. On 200 points, you're looking at around a $4000 differential. Why not just add on 100 points at SSR for not that much more and keep the 200 points?

I've been thinking about selling my OKW points...not to buy at the new resort, but to buy a Marriott. Wife is really tired of going to Disney every year (I still enjoy it) and I figure that Marriott would give us more options, but I didn't realize the points would be so depressed down to 65....most of the listings for OKW look around 71-72. Course we bought when they were still giving free passes so its not like we will lose money, just that I thought I would be able to get a good Marriott week from the proceeds without having to add any $$$

Maybe I will have to just hold on to it.....but its obvious that the price can only fall from now on.

Vero is lower than on-site (and has high dues). I think you also have to factor the closing costs in. Personally, I would rent my points for a year or two and use that money for vacation. Than see if you are ready for DVC again otherwise reconsider selling.
