I rarely post on this forum but have been a visitor for years. Two months ago, my family won four 3-day parkhoppers to DL. We scheduled a vacation around these free tickets (leaving on Sept 25th!), have bought MHP tickets, and have pre-paid for our hotel. The radio station called yesterday and said they are downgrading our tickets to 2-day hoppers because "DL is not cooperating and we can't get 3-day". We have gone back and forth with the station and they absolutely will not budge.

Since our plans are already set in stone, we really want 3 day parkhoppers (and the magic morning that comes with!). To buy an extra day of passes for everyone is MUCH more expensive than just adding another day to a 2-day parkhopper.

Soooo here is my question. Is there some way we could sell our 2-day hoppers and use the money towards buying 3 day hoppers? Is there a way to upgrade our tickets with DL to add an extra day?

Since I don't have the tickets in hand, I don't know if they are regular tickets or say "promotional" on them (or if there even is that sort of thing). I'm just all mad and confused right now! Can anybody help?? TIA

I too won 4 - 3 Day PH tickets from my radio station in July. Once I completed the paperwork at the station, the rest is handled by Disney. They have a dedicated promotions department that handles all the prizes. Strange that the station would back out.

I recorded my win on the radio where they told me all that I had one, just in case something went wrong. Did you do that? If so, you have proof that they said 3 day PH and can complain to the managment of the station.:confused3

I did want to upgrade my tickets to 6 days and was told that they are non-upgradable tickets since they were won. So, I am going to buy 2 6 day PH and the 2 kids will use the 3 day PH, twice for our 7 day trip. (Great tip from a Dis'r)

I can not answer your question...but here is something to find out...Contest have Rules or Terms and Conditions you should ask for a copy of the rules for the contest you won...most rules will state something to the affect:
"reserves the sole right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value".
Just something to check out.

Good Luck!

We have indeed complained to management. They didn't care. They sent us a copy of their "terms and conditions" for all prizes & promotions (interesting that it is nowhere to be found on their website). It basically says "you are entitled to nothing, if you receive a prize it is out of the goodness of our hearts and we reserve the right to change the prize at any time."

We are pretty annoyed because the contest was won by whoever could get the most "likes" on facebook for their radio page. We got 514 over a 3 or 4 day period and let me tell you, it took some sweat and some tears! :) We definitely feel like we "earned" this.

Thanks for the info about the non-upgradeable tickets. I'm afraid that might be what ours are. Anyone know if there is any way to sell them? If they are "promotional" maybe this is unethical/impossible. So sad!

You might go through the BBB on this.

I agree that it may be impossible to upgrade them, you may have to wait and see with some hope, but low expectations.

Thank you so much for your responses! What about Ebay? Are you allowed to sell unused tickets there? I guess worst case scenario we will buy 1-day hoppers :/ Will definitely be making a complaint with the BBB over this.

Thanks for all the help!!

Sorry to read about your situation, but no, you cannot sell them, as it is against Disney policy. I'd wait until you get the tickets, see what is printed on them, and then if the say they cannot be upgraded, I'd call Disney and tug on their heartstrings a little.

People do it all the time on eBay, but it's not exactly legal (per the fine print on the tickets). I have sold a variety of (not Disneyland) tickets on eBay and never had any problems with eBay or the ticket venues complaining. However, I have never received more than 2/3's of the face value of the tickets, so you're probably just as well off just paying for single-day tickets (what with eBay and PayPal fees) and not attempting to do anything illegal.

I would just keep them and buy the extra day; that is, if you can't talk them into giving you what they promised.

Reselling tickets is not allowed by Disney. You can contact them about upgrading your tickets. Good luck. Hopefully, they will work with you & congratulations on winning some tix to the Land.

I'm going to close this thread now

Since the radio station will not work with you, I agree with this. At least call or email Disney the situation. Promotional tickets cannot be upgraded, but Disney may be able to do something else. When the tickets arrive, see if they really are promotional tickets. The radio station claiming Disney would not work with it makes me wonder if the promotion staff may have thought Disney was giving free tickets only to find out it was not. If the radio station did pay for them, they can be upgraded. Good luck.
