If you have 3 contracts and want to sell one, how can you determine the number of available points to include in the sale for that use year? Is it up to you, and you just list the number of available points? As an example, we have 179 points unused in our March use year....if we were to sell a 100 point contract, could we include up to 100 available points, or as few as none?

Thanks

You can only sell a complete contract. You don't chose how many points you can sell, it has to be the whole contract.

Each add on is a separate contract though. But agree, you cannot split a single contract.

If all your contracts are at the same resort the EASIEST way to know how many points you have left in any of your contracts is to call MS. You could ask for a points report and try to decipher it from the pages they send you but I've found the reports excessively complicated and difficult to read. The more contracts you have the more complicated it gets (exponentially). There is a SPECIFIC number of points left in each of your contracts.

We have many contracts all at OKW and MS decides which contracts points come from when reservations are made. Of course I decide what use year they come from but I have no way of knowing which of the contracts points come from for a particular reservation unless I ask. I never ask and don't see any reason why I would.

Call MS and ask them to list the available number of points in each of your contracrts. With this information you'll best be able to decide which of them to sell.

Good luck selling you contract.

I think poohstx may understand that you can't split a contract. But if you have add-ons within a contract, can you decide the fate of the points for a particular use year? E.G.:

We have 4 contracts at BWV with Oct. use year: 220, 100, 100, 150. If we have a total of 179 points still remaining for 2004 and want to sell one of the 100 point contracts, can we decide that the still remaining 2004 points stay with the contracts we keep or let 100 2004 points go with the sale, or anything in between?

I should have added...If you have a pending reservation MS can and will reallocate points from one contract to another. This procedure will allow you to TOP off a contract or STRIP a particular contract of points. There probably is no way of moving points from one contract to another without a pending reservation.

DBBN - an excellent explanation. I didn't know Member Services was taking the used points from specific contracts.

jekjones1558 - you understood what I was asking!! Thanks!

Looks like your signature says you have ressies upcoming, so you can probably use point reallocation to add or subtract points from the contract you want to sell. I just did a point reallocation from another ressie today in order to get at 2005 points for a last minute trip in my 2003 use year. MS was very patient and helpful. Good luck!
