Forgive my ignorance... but I've never had to do this before...
I've received my 1099-S from the attorneys representing the sale of my add-on in 2003.
In my poor recordkeeping of previous years (I've gotten much better - honest!) - I don't believe I have documents showing exactly how much I paid for the add-on, originally.
I've pulled up the mortgage from the Orange County website, but I believe that I may have put a cash deposit on the purchase.
Are there any additional sale documents online that I'm not seeing? (I've printed both the mortgage and the deed). I guess I could contact Member Accounting and plead for mercy - maybe "they" could tell me the original purchase price...
Are our annual maintenance fees deductible, as well? (for capital gains)
Thanks very much in advance...
