I know you get them for free with certain booking packages, so if it's included in the price I get it.

However, I don't understand why buying a band is better than the hard ticket card they give you for free..for MOST people. Any particular reason why people buy them?

I can see them being convenient only for the possibility of not losing the card, but to me that doesn't justify the price by itself. Perhaps there are other benefits?

Ever stand behind a group in the fastpass line that is searching through the cards and trying to figure out which card belongs to which member?
Doesn't happen with a magic band:)

I bought one because I had Memory Maker and wanted the videos you can get on 7DMT and TOT. There is no way to get those videos without a band since there is no place to tap your card. We have a daytime and a nighttime 7DMT and actually watch them every now and then!

You get them complimentary with ALL WDW Resort stays, when staying on property you use them for room access, resort charging, fast pass, photo pass and park access.

When staying offsite IMHO they really aren't necessary as they would just be used for park access, fp+ and photopass and you can just use your park admission for this instead. There may be a few ride photos or videos that you can't access with the park ticket but I am not sure on that.

When we stay at Swan or Dolphin I just use my AP but my dd likes to wear the MB - personal choice.

First of all, they are free as long as you are staying at a WDW resort, you do not have to have a certain package to get them. They are so much easier to deal with then the old cards, my DDs did not like holding onto their cards but as soon as they get up they put on their MBs:)

If someone is interested in a limited edition or custom MB, I totally get it. I, personally, see no benefit of buying one. We have a ton from previous trips and will get more for a trip in August. Like the PP, when staying at Swan or Dolphin, we bring old bands just to access our tickets, but if we didn't have them, I would just use the RFID cards.

Why would it matter in the FP line? Just use a card, any card.

I think a MB is completely unnecessary and would not buy one if I didn't already have 5 from previous stays.

They are way handy and free if staying onsite. Having gone to US, if staying off site, I would buy a clear lanyard for the cards instead. Cheaper and just as easy.

I'd assume that different members have different fastpasses loaded? To be honest, I never can understand why it's a major production; yet, every trip I'm stuck behind this scenario.

The only advantage beyond the card style ticket is the long range RFID reader that is used to automatically add ride photos and videos to your Photo Pass account. Certain rides now, (7DMT, Frozen Ever After) have no other way of receiving these photos. If you bought Memory Maker it's a must (but you only need one band per party if you are all riding together).

The other use for this are some of the new interactive elements on certain rides and queues where it'll say your name or something. Not a big deal, but they don't recognize the card tickets, only Magic Bands.

Also using it for purchases....I love not having to carry a wallet or card around that I have to worry about losing.

Only if your onsite in which case the MB is "free" anyway not sure if the OP is onsite ?

I loved my magic band, except I kept mistaking it for a watch and trying to check the time. Now if they'd just come out with magic band watches, I'd be all set! :jester:

Personally, I would never buy one. We always stay on property so the MB's are sent to us before our trips. Just returned from a 10 night trip - had the new MB's, and they are softer and soooo much more comfortable than the older style. We forgot we had them on, and so convenient for return FP's and using them for charging - nothing to 'dig' around for - always 'right' there!! 'That's' our benefits!! (also for photos) Have never outright purchased a Memory Maker, but they're priced into the AP's we have, so no choice.

It's just fun. :) We stay on-site, so get them free. I would want one for our memory maker purchase anyways.

I like to pay with it. When I get home for the first day or so I find myself want to pay for things with my watch. ;)

That reminds me of one of the first commercials featuring MB's they had a man trying to use it at the store and a woman walking into the sliding glass door after tapping her MB. My family loved that commercial :)

However - the OP is trying to justify the price so I am "assuming" they are not onsite, so no room charging if so....

I don't know if you can assume they are on site or off. They thought you only got them with certain packages. So they may just be confused all the way around

You and me both. I hadn't worn a watch in a long time, but the feeling of the MB was enough to trigger the feeling I was wearing one, then I'd ask DH what time it was. He bought me watch to shut me up. :cutie:
