Sell jewels? Diamonds/sapphires/opals

I have a few small jewels I need to sell. I can't find any jewelry store or gold buying place that will buy jewels. Has anyone found a market for them?

I would suggest looking for a jeweler that deals in "estate" jewelry. But be prepared, because the mark-up on jewelry is somewhere in the neighborhood of 200%, you'll only get pennies on the dollar. My other suggestion is to try e-bay or craigslist. For this one I'd go e-bay over craigslist simply because of the risk of getting robbed. But even there be prepared to not get a lot of money. I bought a pair of aquamarine stud earrings for only $5 (set in sterling).

There is not the same type of market that there is for gold. Not saying you wont be able to seel them, but you might not be able to get a fair price. Are your jewels set or loose? I tried to sell a diamond engagement ring my my mom did not want anymore after she and my dad split up. The guy was only going to give me about $50 for it when my mom bought it for over $700 with a discount because she was an employee of the store. I decided to keep it for that price. My mom has sold some pieces and her guy removed the jewels and gave them back to her. Good luck to you.
