Selecting Airline Seats

I know a lot you like the FF points (as do I), but the best thing you can do to get good seating etc is to accumulate status credits and move through the different membership tiers. Since I've been gold with Virgin, I am able to set a seat preference in my profile (window) and I'm usually in the first 8-10 rows domestically and not too bad for international. For my October flight I'm in a window seat over the wing, where I like it.
